Or maybe I can?

Chapter Text

It was now Jeongin’s turn to drive, allowing Jisung and Hyunjin to jump to the backseats with Felix. The drive wasn’t as terrible as Jisung expected, maybe if you exclude his nervousness. He may or may have not flipped Minho off by accident as well. Also, it turns out he’s just as aggressive behind the wheel as Jeongin, so it was a fun ride.

“You should sleep for a little.” Hyunjin whispered, draping a blanket over the both of them. “You look exhausted.”

Jisung chuckled and Hyunjin joined soon when he realized there was no way in hell for Jisung to fall asleep. Because his body just wasn’t exhausted enough. But some cuddles to decompress would do them good, anyway.

Jisung closed his eyes and put on his headphones, resting his head on Hyunjin’s shoulder. He also pulled his legs to the seat, so he could attach himself more to the other boy. Which caused an almost immediate reaction from Jeongin.

“You better have your damn seatbelt on.” Jeongin glanced at them through the mirror, obviously pissed by other drivers. “I am not paying any fucking tickets because of you.”

“Calm down, lizard.” Jisung opened one eye to look at his friend. “I’m too scared for my life to ride without a seatbelt on with you.”

Jeongin only muttered something about being an excellent driver and let the topic go. This was the moment when Hyunjin could finally wrap one arm around Jisung and take out his sketchbook with the other one. He had some ideas he wanted to put on paper and they still have quite some time before they get to Colorado.

They ended up there after more than a day of driving. With Yeosang, Jeongin and Jisung swapping every 5 hours behind the wheel. Their group was forced to make a few rest stops to use the restroom or to eat something. Thankfully, there were many along the way. So they could move their limbs around for a moment before jumping into their cars right away.

“I can’t believe I just drove half a country.” Jisung stood out of the car and leaned back, letting out a loud sigh when his back cracked. “And that there are no flights from New York here.”

“Actually, you drove more than a half of the United States.” Felix corrected him, as he was waiting for the other cars to arrive. The one with his boyfriend, to be precise. “And there are flights to Denver. As you can see, we’re nowhere near Denver.”

“Whatever. You should be lucky you weren’t driving.” Jisung leaned against Hyunjin, who finally got out of the car as well and circled his arms around his boyfriend’s waist. That’s exactly what he needs after this horrendous driving adventure. Some cuddles from Hyunjin. “That possum almost killed us.”

Yeah, Jisung’s first official road trip on driver’s duty and a damn possum jumped in front of their car. Of course when Jisung was driving, because why the fuck not? Surprisingly, they were the first ones, probably thanks to the GPS on their phones and because of how Jisung and Jeongin were speeding through the empty roads.

They are going to spend the next week in a house, rented by Seonghwa. It’s apparently a part of a skiing resort as well. So they don’t have to worry about where they are going to be skiing. The house was actually nice and quite fucking big, in Jisung’s opinion. But it’s supposed to fit 16 people, so what was he expecting? The owner said she would meet them in 10 hours, so hopefully the responsible car will get here sooner than later. Because none of the 5 guys here has any idea what they would be supposed to do. Probably tell the lady that the head of the trip is still stuck in his boyfriend’s car. If Jisung and Jeongin’s driving could be described with an animal, it would be a hare. While Hongjoong would be a damn turtle.

“This man is driving like my 78-year-old grandma.” Yeosang was complaining and started coughing when he started talking right after taking a hit from his vape. “And almost every cop is asking her to drive faster because she’s causing more road hazard than a moose.”

“He won’t encounter a moose here.” Jeongin laughed at the idea of Yeosang’s grandmother behind a wheel. “More like that possum Jisung almost killed.”

“I bet Mingi, who was driving behind us, killed it, anyway.” Jisung scoffed, still shivering internally from their near death experience. “Besides, we can ask him.” He pointed at the Toyota that had just made its way to the parking space. “Still no sign of Hwa in sight. This is going to end badly.” Jisung said ominously

Just like this, it happened. An old lady came up to the 5 of them, with a smile and Jisung panicked, hiding behind Hyunjin. Literally, he was clinging to his back like his life depended on him, but he wasn’t the only one. Yeosang also took the same tactic and his behind Jeongin, which didn’t work out quite well. Because Jisung was much shorter than Hyunjin, while Yeosang and Jeongin were of similar height. Felix laughed at them and smiled awkwardly when the lady greeted them and took it upon himself to explain everything.

“Hello miss. We are actually still waiting for 2 more cars.” Felix shook her hand, trying not to make them look like incapable idiots. Why did he say 2, when Mingi was almost here? Because he lost control of the car and had to drive to the bottom of the hill, to drive back up again. All of them are terrible drivers. “And in one of them is Seonghwa, who discussed everything with you. Wouldn’t it be a problem to wait a couple more minutes?”

“Of course not, dear. Take your time. I’ll be waiting.” The lady reassured them with a gentle smile and walked a couple of meters away from them.

Yeosang looked over Jeongin’s shoulder to make sure the coast was clear before waving at Jisung. Both of them smiled embarrassedly before leaving the safety of their boyfriend’s personal spaces.

“So I’m not only your boyfriend, but I’m also your shield as well?” Hyunjin chuckled, wrapping an arm around his waist, and kissed the top of Jisung’s head. “That was just an old lady. You both know that, right?”

“Maybe she was carrying a shotgun?” Jisung muttered, jabbing his ribs. “Old ladies with shotguns are dangerous.”

Hyunjin laughed at how ridiculous Jisung was and maybe called him an idiot. In a loving way, obviously. They were standing there like lost ducks, waiting for Seonghwa. Who thankfully appeared after a few more minutes. Of course Hongjoong was the driver, which explains a lot. Right after him, Mingi’s car drove to their parking space, drifting before finally parking his car. It seems like Mingi had to let Hongjoong drive up first.

“Seonghwa, oh my god I didn’t know I would be so happy to see you.” Jisung jumped on him when he finally got out of his car. “Please, there is an old lady there with the keys for us and you are the one who was discussing everything with her.”

“I’d never take you for the type to be afraid of an old lady.” Seonghwa ruffled his hair and looked around to see the lady in question. “Alright, I see the scary lady that is shorter than you. Let me take care of this. Hey miss!” Seonghwa left Jisung and alerted the lady about his presence.

The rest of the group left the remaining cars, holding their bags, and Jisung did that as well, carrying Hyunjin’s bags as well. That’s the favor for being his human shield. Then he tossed the car keys to Jeongin, so he could close the car once he was done. When he got to his friends, the old lady was gone and Seonghwa was holding a set of keys to the wooden house that was right in front of them.

“Alright, it’s already 6 pm, so I don’t think going to the slope would be a good idea.” Seonghwa announced, wrestling with his bag using the free hand. “We can hit the small town next to it once we unpack. What do you think about it?”

“As long as Hoongjong is not driving, I’m fine with that.” Wooyoung chuckled, throwing his backpack on. “Let’s meet here in an hour?”

“Fine by me.” Seonghwa agreed and unlocked the door and turned around for one more second. “The room on top is for you.” He pointed at Hyunjin and Jisung. “The rest of you, fight for yourselves.”

The chaos ensued in front of their eyes as they were too confused to move for a minute. Why would they give them a separate room? Oh whatever, as long as they don’t have to listen to Jeongin and Yeosang fucking, they should be good to go. After Mingi got inside and it didn’t sound like a battleground anymore, they slowly climbed two sets of stairs. The house was even more spacious inside, some more of them got two people's rooms.

“I just hope I won’t break my leg while skiing.” Jisung jumped onto their queen-size bed, tossing the bag somewhere against the wall. “Or worse. That I would do a split. I’m not sure my balls would survive it. You know I never went skiing. With my parents and all of that. I always hypothetically thought of myself as a snowboarder.”

“I mean, you could try.” Hyunjin sat down next to him, pulling Jisung’s head onto his lap to play with his hair. “Or tomorrow you’ll try both and decide on what you like better. I tried snowboarding once and almost broke my arm and decided it’s not for me.” Hyunjin kissed the top of his head to ease his nerves.

“I’m assuming you’ll be there with me when I bump my ass every 5 meters.” Jisung giggled, hugging Hyunjin’s thigh and stretched his legs. “Because if not, I’m kicking you out and you’re going to sleep on the couch.”

“I’m going to be there with you every step of the way. But I believe you’ll catch up fairly quick.”

Hyunjin smiled at him brightly and with such confidence, that even Jisung started to believe everything was going to be okay.
