Chapter Text
You bit your hand in frustration. Not too tight which didn’t really help your emotionally stunted self. God, you were throwing a tantrum. That feeling of hopelessness and nihilism set into you. A sort of hazy feeling that lead you to feel…
Not… happy.
Of course that sounded idiotic. This was normal and you knew you brought it upon yourself but every part of you just felt empty…
Your melancholy was interrupted by looming steps.
Bob.
“Hey sug, I decided to check in… are you ok?” Bob looked at you with that caring face of his. You chuckled at his expression and hesitantly… shook your head.
Bob walked towards you and set down the plastic bag he had brought with him on the floor. He moved the hair stuck to your face with his hands gently. “You need anything?”
You just continued to breathe next to him. Not knowing where you wanted to go next. You wanted to keep your voice shut and just have time to think. But you couldn’t really convert that without speaking so…
In exhaustion you just laid against him. Feeling a lump form in your throat at the contact. You really hadn’t been hugged in a while. You tried your hardest to keep it in when Bob started to rub your back slowly. Up and down, up and down.
Up and down.
You felt your frown deepen and tears starting to well in the corners of your eyes. You held on to Bob’s sweater tightly.
Your breath hitched once he put his arms around you and you started crying when he started to rock you slowly back and forth whilst letting your hair. Not saying anything just repeating the motions. His lips rested at the top of your head.
You were so tired.
You hiccuped as Bob made you lay down in your bed. Kissing your cheek before leaving you there a sniffling mess. He came back with a cup of water and set it on your nightstand before crawling into bed with you and pulling you into his embrace again.
You both laid there for a long time. Bob rubbing your shoulder and kissing your forehead as you cried out your lost hopes.
Soon your eyes felt heavy and the light outside faded. You were struggling to keep them open.
“Just sleep darlin’ I gotcha,” Bob kissed your head again and hummed. You focused on his voice and the small vibrations near his throat as you fell asleep to the rhythm of his rising and falling chest.
He whispered something again. You didn’t catch it.
