Chapter Text
Aoyagi Toya’s personal knight paced through the halls of the Eastern Castle. Today was the day to come out as transgender, confess his love, and admit to identity fraud, all to the younger prince of the Pegasus Kingdom.
The ginger stood in the long pale yellow hallway that held the royal’s bedrooms, one for each of the siblings, the rooms for other family members were down the hall. First from the left was a saffron-like colored door with intricate golden carvings of birds, swirls, and horses with wings. Next was a less red, but still a little orangish door with similar carvings. Instead of being in the wood of the door they protruded and were a rose gold color. Finally, was the door the boy was right in front of. It was a vivid blue color. Unlike the other doors, the swirling designs painted on and were a shining grey.
Akito finally gathered the courage to knock on Toya’s door.
“Come in,'' said the prince. His voice is soft and soothing. The knight didn’t know which was worse, not getting the opportunity to confess, or barely having any opportunity to back out.The ginger nervously pulled the silver door knob adorned with painted roses.
The open door revealed a tall boy with two hair colors, one side of his hair was a dark greyish-blue and the other was a sky-like blue. He sat on his four poster bed in a white suit. You’re so pretty ,those words might not ever escape the knight’s mouth.
The shorter boy took a seat beside the taller. “Toya….I-I-,I,I,” was all that could escape Akito’s lips,he was struggling to catch his breath. Tears welled up in the ginger’s eyes.
Stupid,cowardly child
can’t even get a proper word out his mouth
It hurt…it hurt all the knight wanted for the negative thoughts to stop.
“I didn’t raise you to be such a useless child.”
Why weren’t you there for me and nee-san..?
“I love you no matter what our parents might think,Akito!”
“Leave me alone, I don’t want you here.”
Nee-san, Ena, I’m sorry…
The ginger was heavily sobbing. All that time the two-toned boy wrapped his arms around the shorter in a hug. “Akito, it’s okay, I’m here for you,” Those words were soothing and calmed the knight down. “C-can I cry on you?” A nervous trembling ginger cried. “Akito, of course you can!”
It had been 5 minutes? 15? 30? Neither of the boys knew anymore. Not a single word had been spoken all that time. Forgetting how it could change their relationship forever, the ginger broke the silence “Toya, I’m transgender.” The shorter planned to elaborate further to solve any of the confusion, but the taller responded almost immediately, “I am too.”
“There’s more I have to say… I lied about who I am.”
“Akito Shinonome…,” The words slowly left the prince’s mouth. “Toya, I love you, romantically,”
“Akito Shinonome, you dum-dum,” the taller said, lovingly. Akito felt like his heart stopped, it felt like he was being mocked.
Tears were forming in the ginger’s eyes,as his head fell and he stared at the ground. Before the knight’s negative thoughts could continue, Toya finished saying his sentence “I love you too.” That was not an answer Akito expected. The taller boy lifted up the shorter boy’s head so they were making eye contact. Only a few words left the prince’s lips “Can I kiss you?” The ginger nodded in response.
Morrow’s sun crept in, as what was today was now yesterday. At his usual time Tenma Tsukasa, future king of the Pegasus Kingdom arose from his slumber. After getting ready the blonde opened his door to leave the highest floor of the castle and eat breakfast.
When Tsukasa was about a quarter down the staircase he noticed his sister, Saki, leave her room. All this time there was no sign of the youngest of the siblings, Toya. He would have left his room by now.
“Hey, Saki?”
“Onii-chan, what is it?”
“Could you go check on Toya, he’s never late.” With those words leaving Tsukasa’s mouth, Saki immediately unturned to go get Toya.
The Tenma princess knocked on the vivid blue door in a cheerful manner.
“Toya?”
“Are you awake?”
“Toya, you there?”
“Are you feeling well?” No sound from inside the room.
“Tooooya~ I’m coming in now okay?”
Saki opened the door to Toya’s room to an unusual sight. On Toya’s four poster bed lay Toya and his knight, cuddling. Unlike most people, this wasn’t that unusual to Saki. She suspected something was up with them, after all she reads romance novels.
The main thing she felt was happiness for her little brother. The knight and the prince looked happy and at peace, she hated to break this, but breakfast would get cold.
“Wakey-wakey Toya, and you too Shinonome-kun!” The two boys didn’t move. The princess came closer to investigate, they seemed asleep. Saki quietly approached them and gently shook them whilst saying “Good morning, Toya,Shinonome-kun, you too!” The way she said this wasn’t motherly, it was more how Tsukasa would wake her and Toya up.
The ginger shot awake, the message was like the ones his sister would give him after a night of crying, comforting. “Who are you and why are-Sorry my lady!” The knight was surprisingly calm considering the circumstances. “It’s okay! You can just call me Saki!” Akito had just realized what Saki had walked in on.The girl said a few words “Tell Toya to wake up,okay?” and with that she cheerfully left the room.
The ginger turned to his lover, other than the sudden intrusion he couldn’t have felt happier. To love the life he might have once hated felt amazing. To feel the comfort of love. To have everyone around him. To know it’s okay to cry. Only one other thought flowed into the knight’s mind. Thank you, everyone, especially Toya, for helping me learn this.
