Chapter Text
‘Something about home, being surrounded by those you care about, your kin, your family. Even if it just a base in the middle of nowhere much galaxy.’
“I see you brought us new quests!”
Gregor chuckled as he had arrived to greet the Batchers coming back home with several other clones to aid unloading their precious cargo.
“Yeah, it was an unexpected turn of events, alas not an unwelcome one.”
Tech told the chuckling clone.
“Now this, is what I call a success!”
Howzer was not far behind Gregor as far as the welcome wagon went.
“Send out five clones to have them return triple in volume.”
Gregor and Howzer were both clearly in a good mood as despite their state, the clones had arrived safely to their new home. And it was always such a joyous moment when it happened.
“Very funny, Howzer.”
Crosshair commented, the two of them having come to terms on what had happened on Ryloth, having buried the hatched and all that.
“I thought it was!”
Rex was there too, because of course he was. Always making sure to be there when new clones arrived to the base.
“Yeah Cross, grow a sense of humour, won’t you.”
Cody, of course, present and counted for, told the sniper, getting only a roll of his eyes in response from Crosshair.
The clones were coming out of the Marauder, one by one, looking around them not really believing where they were and that this was actually a safe haven for them all.
In all fairness, nobody could blame them.
They were still young, having most likely never seen anything else except Kamino and the inside of whatever facility the Empire had put them in after removing them from their home world, Kamino.
They were all quite thin, with some of them having visible scars and wounds, most likely from whatever experimentation the imperial hacks had ran on them.
Some of the clones did not even dare to look any of the others in the eyes, having most likely been conditioned after so much torture to simply be still and cooperate.
There was the data file with some intel as to what experimentations the young clones had gone through. But for now, the medics were there too, taking care of them, the whole group being carried or walked into the med bay.
The medical clones along with Rex and Cody were on the move, talking in hushed tones to the new arrivals, trying to assure them with words and soft actions they were all safe now, that they could let their guard down. But the road to their recovery was a long one for sure, this they all knew.
Omega who had arrived to the scene as well, had been shocked to see the young clones in such a state. She was near tears, but was holding them in bravely, not wanting to make the new arrivals uncomfortable by bursting into loud sobs.
“Will they be alright?”
Omega’s tone was a soft whisper when she asked the question.
“Yeah, Kid. It might take a long while, but they will be fine.”
It was Crosshair much to the surprise of the others around the two having spoken to her.
Then again, Crosshair had personal experience of the same. Well, close to the same. So, Crosshair if anyone knew, what the others had gone through. At least, on some level.
Crosshair placed his arm around Omega.
“It will take some time and a lot of help, but they will be okay. Some day.”
The statement also for his own benefit, the others having been there for him, still were, as Crosshair too, was far from having recovered. Mentally at least.
Omega had her arms around the tall man, holding Crosshair in a tight grip, through it conveying her support to Crosshair as much as the words of the sniper’s having assured her. They were all a family and only together, would they all pull through this.
All the bad the Empire had done to them. To all the clones.
But the fight was far from over, as there were so many of their kind still out there, suffering the same fate. So, each day, the rebels, the clone deserters, were doing their damnedest to bring back everyone they could, back to the fold.
