Chapter Text

The next three days pass in a rush as Heeseung spends most of his time in Jaeyun’s room, exchanging about everything and anything. He tells him about his job, the way Riki grew up with him, how he was such a perfect angel when he was brought to his workplace because of some issue with the caretaker.

And then, Jaeyun tells him about how he loved his mother, how they would always spend the first day of Spring together, walking in the city, observing trees regaining their leaves and flowers getting out of the snow. Jaeyun always likes talking about his mother and all the small things they would do together when he was younger.

She knew Jaeyun would eventually become sick too, and tried her best to make him live the best life before being forced to stay in a hospital until he passes away. At some point, in the middle of telling Heeseung one of the best holidays he spent with her, he starts crying. That’s when Heeseung wraps his arms around Jaeyun’s body, and rubs his back with all the love he can provide.

Eventually, Heeseung finds themselves closer than they have ever been, now that the… day approaches. It's strange, Jaeyun is able to speak, to eat, to walk into the corridors and to laugh with his friends every time he passes by them. In a way, it seems like everything is alright, and nothing bad is about to happen.

That’s how they find themselves in Riki’s room one afternoon, the three of them watching a TV show no one is really interested in. They just do it to spend time together, as the family they’ve become. Even if Riki doesn’t call Jaeyun his dad. Even if Heeseung and Jaeyun aren’t married. Even if they know each other for two weeks, it doesn’t matter.

Because right now, they finally found a place in their family, just to exist together.

“Riki, what would you like to become when you grow up ?” Jaeyun asks, his head resting on Heeseung’s shoulder. His voice creates vibrations, and Heeseung shivers lightly at the sensation. It feels so domestic and nice right now.

“An angel !” He replies instantly, and snuggles closer to Jaeyun, hiding in his chest, while the latter can’t help but laugh a bit.

“For sure that’s a lovely dream. What else could you be ? An astronaut ? A firefighter ? A teacher ? You can be whatever you want, if you work hard enough for it.” Jaeyun rubs Riki’s cheek with his fingers, making the boy smile widely.

Without them noticing, Heeseung has been taking pictures on pictures the last three days, telling himself it would be the last memories he would have of Jaeyun, Riki and himself. Their adventure as a family had been short, but memorable. He does the same thing right now, smiling alone.

“I want to be in love, just like dad and you.”

Both men feel their cheeks heat up at Riki’s words. Out of every answer he could have given them, he chose this one, and on purpose. The way his smile widens when he sees them both gives it away. What a small devil.

“Riki !” Jaeyun exclaims, embarrassed and flushed red. “That’s not something you say in front of other people, dear god, this child is insufferable !”

“I thought you loved me Jake !”

“I still do, but you’re a goblin, really.” Jaeyun pinches Riki’s cheek lightly, making him yelp in surprise. “Just an advice from me to you, don’t say that right in front of someone’s face. Instead, say it behind their back, so it’s even nastier.”

“Don’t teach him such things !” Heeseung slightly yells, sighing while grinning. Even if he’s mad Jaeyun is telling his son weird stuff, he can’t help but be overjoyed at the simple feeling of them three finally being able to be together.

He pushes the other thoughts aside and focuses on the two angels he sees in front of him. Riki is still snuggled in a tight hug, head against Jaeyun’s chest, smiling like the devil himself.

“What ? He’s going to learn all of that anyway. Better start soon so he knows what life has to offer.” Jaeyun shrugs, but Heeseung can see the way he’s happy with the reaction.

“You’re such a bad influence for our son.” Heeseung lets out, and he can’t say he’s not delighted at the way Jaeyun’s face heats up instantly, realizing what the other man just admitted. Their son ? It’s too good to be real.

Before he can think about it some more, he hears a door opening, and Chaewon appears, smiling at the view. She’s sure she will tell the whole staff about that, they’ve all been eager to know some more. They would all do anything to make sure their Jaeyun is doing well and is still happy.

“What’s happening here ? I could hear you all from the corridor. Some people are trying to sleep next to this room, you know.”

“Ow come on Chae’ ! We’re just having fun, why don’t you join us ? We’ve been criticizing people on that shitty tv show for the past hour, it’s amazing how stupid they are.”

“No, sorry. But…” She thinks for a few seconds, and then realizes she just had the best idea ever. “I can offer something for you three, I’m sure you will accept immediately.”

Heeseung raises a brow, intrigued. “What is it ?”

“Want me to take a pic of you three ?”

And then, instantly, Jaeyun nods vigorously, telling the two others it might be the best idea ever. In the meantime, he thanks Chaewon and gets ready to pose. He comes closer to Heeseung, and instantly, he feels the man’s hand on his waist. Heeseung’s other arm rests on Riki’s shoulder. They stay still for a few seconds, once Chaewon finds the perfect position to take the picture. She uses Heeseung’s phone, and smiles to herself when in the corner of the screen, she sees the one he took of Jaeyun and Riki.

“One, two, three, say Cheese !”

“Cheese !” They say in sync, and suddenly, the sound of the picture being taken resonates through the room. Chaewon gives the phone back, and smiles at them before doing a small checking of Riki’s broken ribs. It’s getting better than before, and Heeseung is relieved to hear that. At least, his son is doing well.

While the Nurse is busy with his son, Heeseung feels someone coming close to him, and hiding in his chest. He’s so happy, and his heart is beating a thousand miles by second. He hums pleasantly when Jaeyun wraps his arms around him. He’s not necessarily tiny, but against him, he feels so… huggable

“Jaeyun ?”

“Hmm ?”

Heeseung smiles fondly and brushes hair strands out of Jaeyun’s face. “I love you so much.”

“Me too Heeseung, me too.”

Heeseung keeps staring at the paper in his hands, wondering if he should really be there out of all places. It’s chilly outside, and his light coat doesn’t prevent the cold from coming to him in fresh breezes. The wind slaps his face, and he can’t wait to see why he had to come here out of all places.

The sticky note dancing between his fingers has only one hint : ‘Meet Me at Aisle Three Point Five’. And nothing else. This writing is definitely Jaeyun’s, but Heeseung has no idea what he’s supposed to understand in between those words. What the fuck is aisle three point five.

He had first asked Soobin about it, who didn’t answer anything, then Taehyun, who was busy. He questioned Sunghoon too, and then Seungkwan who happened to pass by, Chaewon who did the daily ‘Riki check’, hell, even Joshua and Jeonghan told him they didn’t know.

It’s only when Sunoo came with Beomgyu to talk with Riki that Heeseung achieved to know.

‘Oh, he’s going all out.’ Beomgyu had said, and then Sunoo had hit him while rolling his eyes. He had proceeded to pull Heeseung aside, and told him :

‘Please be careful, he’s going to offer his heart to you, don’t break it anymore. He’s waiting for you outside, the aisles are numbered, try your best.’

But Heeseung is standing in Aisle Three and he can’t even understand what the ‘point five’ has to do with all of that. Spring is coming, he sees it in the way flowers are starting to blossom and trees are green again. It’s pleasing to see, it would be a lie to say he doesn’t like it. He’s not oblivious to the way Jaeyun makes him feel either with that dramatic mise en scène

Aisle Three is the one at the back of the hospital, in the huge park surrounding the building. From this side, Heeseung can’t even hear the sound of cars on the road. He suddenly feels like he’s in the middle of a field, with only the wind siffling in his ears.

And then, he sees it, a bit farther, in probably what’s supposed to be the middle of Aisle Three : a belvedere. Heeseung expects to see Jaeyun standing, waiting for him, but he doesn’t. For now, he’s all alone, so he steps closer, and waits.

He waits five minutes, ten minutes, twenty minutes, and eventually, he accepts the fact Jaeyun won’t come see him, and that he’s probably busy doing something else. Heeseung hopes he’s only busy, and not… no, he’d rather not think about it right now. He’s already anxious enough.

That’s when he hears something from afar coming closer with each passing second. It sounds like footsteps, but rushed footsteps, and suddenly Heeseung feels like praying it’s not what he thinks it is. Because it’s not supposed to be tha-

It’s Jaeyun . Running towards him, breathless, almost stumbling and clothes creased. And Heeseung knows it’s not a good sign. In any single other situation, he would feel his body heat up as a reaction of his lover coming towards him, smiling like never. But there’s a reason why Jaeyun is in this hospital in the first place, and it’s because he’s sick as hell, and his heart is definitely weak.

So why is he making it run laps right now ?

“Jae-” Heeseung starts, but he can’t finish his sentence as he’s cut short by a yell from the other side of the yard. It’s Jeonghan, and he’s pissed, Heeseung sees it (he hears it more to be fair).

“Heeseung !” Jaeyun cries back, pain painted on his face, and once he is finally at Heeseung’s level, he doesn’t even allow himself a break, as Jeonghan starts running to get him back inside probably.

“Jaeyun-” Heeseung tries to say again, but he’s cut short.

“Kiss me. Now.”

Heeseung freezes. “What ?”

“Kiss. Me.”

And who is Heeseung to say no ? He does it, with all his love, and all the feelings he’s been hiding for the past two weeks. Jaeyun’s lips aren’t even cold, even though the air around them is freezing. They’re plump and full, sweet as candy, and overall they just perfectly fit Heeseung’s.

It feels like the world stops, it’s just the two of them in the park, while flowers overwhelm them with their sweet fragrance. Jeonghan has disappeared into the background, he’s not even there anymore, he’s just a ghost of the past.

During this short instant, it’s almost as if everything has been a fever dream from the beginning. As if this whole encounter had never occurred. Just as if Jaeyun has always been an angel waiting for Heeseung to come into his life. Or maybe it was the other way around. Maybe it was Heeseung’s life which revolved around his meeting with Jaeyun.

But it’s getting too long, and it’s already time to say goodbye. Jaeyun detaches himself first, smiling from ear to ear. However, Heeseung can still feel the inner pain the man is feeling. It’s dreadful to see him this way, tortured between happiness and grief.

“Jaeyun-”

“Thank you for coming here today…” Jaeyun cuts him in his words for the last time, inhaling the sweet smell of Heeseung’s perfume. “I wanted to see spring with someone I love, like I would do before. And I couldn’t think of anyone else other than you. So really, thank you.”

“I love you so much Jaeyun. I hope I can say it all my life.”

“I would have loved for you to be able to.”

–

“Jaeyun.. Jaeyun is… He’s gone .” Sunoo cries onto Sunghoon’s shoulder, unable to look at the view in front of them. If Heeseung didn’t know, he would simply think Jaeyun is having a peaceful sleep, not interrupted by anything.

However, as he knows it’s definitely not that, he can’t help but sob quietly, biting his lip to avoid making too much noise. He understands how hard it must be for the rest of the staff members, who knew him for such a long time.

He feels miserable when he only stayed with Jaeyun for two weeks. But since it’s so easy to fall for him, what was he supposed to do ? He can’t help it, it’s stronger than his will.

“I’m- I’m going out, I can’t take it.” Sunoo says once again, and Sunghoon shoots a glance at Heeseung, who silently nods. Finally, when they’re both out of the bedroom, it’s just Heeseung, and Jaeyun. The two of them, in an atrocious silence. Sorrow washes over him, and finally, he lets it all out. He rejects his sadness, his grief, his pain. Everything he’s been holding since Soobin entered Riki’s room, eyes empty of any kind of emotion.

‘I’m sorry.’ Soobin had only managed to say, before breaking into uncontrollable sobs, making Heeseung understand everything in a millisecond. It hadn’t taken him longer to reach that one bedroom he spent so much time in.

Jaeyun shouldn’t be like that. He should be outside, walking between the trees, playing with the hospital’s children pursuing his studies or working somewhere. He should be with Riki and Heeseung, arguing over where they should go during the next holiday. So why isn’t he moving ? Why are his eyes closed and his breathing inexistent ?

Why is he gone

“I love you.” Heeseung finally manages to say, in between his sobs, wondering if it’s really useful. It’s not, he knows Jaeyun doesn’t hear him anymore, but he still does it, gaslighting himself into thinking it’s going to be alright.

He knows it won’t

“It’s weird to say that, but life seems meaningless right now, without you by my side. I’m whipped, ain’t I ? We’ve only known each other for a bit more than two weeks, yet I can’t imagine my life without you, how strange. Tell me Jaeyun, what am I supposed to do now ? Should I follow you ?”

He waits for an answer, which never comes. Heeseung sighs and closes his eyes while trying to steady his breathing.

“I can’t leave, Jaeyun, I can’t. My- Our son is still there, and I can’t leave him all alone. And I know it’s not what you would want me to do. I know you want me to go forward. But I’ll never forget you. Say I’m crazy, say I’m a mad man, I don’t care. I do believe you are my soulmate, and I’m mad at fate for making you leave while I’m still here. If it hadn’t been for Riki, I think I would have followed you… But I love him too much.”

Heeseung slowly takes Jaeyun’s hand on his own. It’s cold, oh so cold. It’s colder than it has ever been before. But the contact is reassuring in a way. Heeseung knows in a few minutes the doctors are going to come into the room to bring Jaeyun with them, so just for an instant, he allows himself to be alone with him.

“I love you, now, and forever. Please… look after me Jaeyun. You’re the only angel I ever need in my life.”

The kiss he presses on his knuckles is full of his affection, yet, it reaches no end. It’s too late, Jaeyun can’t answer anymore. And Heeseung acknowledges it when he gets out of the room, admiring him for the last time.

And he crumbles, getting on his knees, praying, crying, asking for help.

No one answers. ‘It’s too late, Heeseung’ Heaven tells him. People pass by, but no one pays any attention, they’re all too busy, they all have their own kind of problems.

Life is like that.

Life is unfair . Heeseung learns this lesson the hard way. He would have rather learnt that before, like Jaeyun would say to Riki before. Something Jaeyun will never say to Riki anymore.

Because Jaeyun is no more.

–

Riki isn’t the same child he used to be. He’s seventeen now, and high school is draining him. Luckily, he can balance school work and pursuing his biggest dream : becoming the best dancer the world has ever seen. He’s confident, and does everything in his power to achieve it. However, today is just another simple school day. Actually no, it’s the start of a new school year, the last one before he graduates from high school, and then, he’ll be free to do whatever he wants.

He’s seated in a random classroom when the bell rings, announcing the end of their period, and most importantly announcing the start of lunch time. Unlike every single year, he doesn’t rush to meet his friends, he takes all the time he can, realizing he’ll most likely be alone for the first few days, or even for the whole school year.

He just moved out of his old high school, since his father decided it would only be better for him to finish his current studies in a better school. And being the obedient child Riki is, he had agreed. It’s not like it bothers him, he likes it here, the timetable is better, people are well mannered and the teachers seem to be indulging.

It doesn’t matter if he’ll end up all alone, he only needs to graduate, and then, he’ll be free. He types out a quick message for his father, and puts his phone back into his pocket, before tying up the few stuff he had put on the table. At this point, it’s just him and the head teacher.

“Riki, right ?” She asks him with a sweet tone, and he can’t do anything but nod as he comes closer once his bag is secured. She’s short, but she has long hair and seems to be the type of teacher you can always talk to whenever you feel bad.

“Yes, is there something you want me to do Miss ?”

“Not at all, I just wanted to talk to you, can you sit down for a second ? It’s not going to be long, and I don’t want to make you skip lunch.” She smiles, and Riki raises his head to look at the black board, where her name is written.

He hasn’t really been paying attention, so he’s surprised when he realizes her name is Kim Taeyeon. It’s insane how many people in this region are Korean. Or maybe it’s because he’s a magnet and keeps pulling them close.

He remembers vividly his stay at that one hospital when he was younger, almost everyone was Korean there too. Riki sighs at the memory and decides to ignore the iridescent flow of image coming inside his mind. Instead, he concentrates again on his teacher.

“No problem, Miss.” He pushes the chair aside and sits down. “Do you need more information ? Since I came here just this year.”

“No, your file is up to date, it’s perfect, I wanted to let you know… It’s always hard to change schools by the end of your scholarship, and you may find it difficult to feel integrated. If you ever feel down, or notice something weird among the students, please come find me, I’ll always be there to help you.”

Oh wow, that’s not something Riki was prepared to hear. He thought Miss Kim would only ask him for more official papers or permission from his family for some kind of extra scholar activities. Never would he have thought it would be about his own mental health and his integration in school.

He smiles at himself.

“It’s alright, Miss, I’m not really here to make friends, I just want to graduate and then live my own life. It’s really kind of you to help me though, I’m thankful for that.”

“Riki, I know what it is to be new somewhere, and how difficult you might find it. School isn’t supposed to feel like a chore, and I would really love to see you enjoy your time here other than just studying. You might end up feeling lonely at some point. Everyone deserves some kind of emotional support, I mean it.”

“I have my family, my father, and I know he’ll always be there for me. I’m not afraid. But if you say so, maybe I should try making one or two friends. Do you know who I should talk to first ?”

“Hmm, there is no class president as of now, but I have been the head teacher of these kids for a long time now, maybe try talking with Yoshi and Asahi, they’re our two exchange students, but they’ve been here for a year already, I’m sure they will accept you easily.” Miss Kim grins at him lightly and stands up.

“Thank you, Miss, I will try my best.” He bows politely and does the same thing, reaching for his bag, accompanying his teacher until the door, where they part ways.

And suddenly, Riki understands what she has been telling him. When silence overwhelms him, and his presence is the only one in the corridor, he feels incredibly lonely. He takes a deep breath and passes a hand through his hair. He’s a grown up now, he can handle it. He’s not the lost five year old in the hospital hallways asking for his second dad, while everyone looks at him with pity.

However, the sensation still feels oddly familiar as he takes a few steps forwards, and starts walking down the corridor, trying to find his way to the cafeteria. He doesn’t pass by anyone, he’s all alone in this maze he barely knows. Every single junction looks like the previous one, and instantly, he understands the fact he’s lost.

One look at his watch makes him realize he still has a lot of time before him until the next period. Nevertheless, if he keeps walking without finding the right path, he’s really going to die here all alone, and without eating. And he doesn’t know which is worse.

Eventually, he comes back to the room he has been in in the first place, and releases a deep sigh. He’s seconds away from getting his phone out and calling his father when he feels something bumping into him. A small yelp escapes him while he leans on the closest wall to avoid falling flat onto the floor. It would have been horribly humiliating to just do something like on his first day in a foreign school (for him at least).

“Oh my god I’m so sorry !” The other person says in a hurry, and with the voice tone, Riki knows she’s a girl. “Are you ok ? I didn’t mean to bump into you.”

He raises his head, and finally, he understands the situation. That girl, who was in this classroom previously with him a few minutes ago, probably forgot something and came back to find it. And then, since he had stayed in front of the door to contemplate his meaningless life, he didn’t realize she had opened it and was now heading towards the exit.

That’s when they collided.

“No, it’s ok, I’m fine.” He puts a hand on his collarbone, that’s where her head hit him. It’s going to leave a bruise. “Are you hurt though ?”

She looks at him for a few seconds, without really understanding what he tells her, then nods. Her forehead is a bit red, but it doesn’t seem like she’s in pain. She will probably be fine in ten minutes. Riki has spent enough time in biology classes to know these kinds of reactions.

“Excuse me but… are you the next student here ? I think we will be in the same class this year.” She smiles shyly, avoiding eye contact.

“Seems like it.” He nods back. “I’m Lee Riki, this is the only year I’ll spend here. And you ? What’s your name ?”

“Eunchae, Hong Eunchae. If you’re alone, follow me. Have you eaten yet ?”

“No..” Riki answers, ashamed and embarrassed. “I couldn’t find my way to the cafeteria, I’ve been walking around for ten minutes now.”

“I’ll lead the way, don’t worry.” Eunchae smiles again, this time, widely, gaining confidence in herself. “I forgot my hairpins in the classroom, that’s why I came back, I haven’t eaten yet, but my friends are already in the cafeteria. Would you like to eat with us ?”

Riki doesn’t need to think twice about it. He remembers Miss Kim’s words. He will say yes. His father told him to socialize as much as he could, and that his last year would be the most meaningful for him.

But can he really do so when he knows the person his father loved the most has disappeared ? Can Riki even allow himself to get attached to people if it’s to be left alone by the end ?

“You don’t have to say yes out of pity you know..” Eunchae adds, noticing the way Riki is conflicted. She can’t force him to come with her, after all, maybe he likes to stay alone better.

“No, I’ll come with you, it’s my first day, it’ll be better if I’m not left all alone… If you get it. Could you show me around after ? I’d be grateful for that.”

“Sure !” Eunchae exclaims. “Come on, Haruna and Kyujin are waiting for me. I’m sure they’ll be happy to meet someone new. They’re not in our class, so you won’t see them a lot. But you can stay with us, we don’t mind.”

In fact, Riki loves talking with them. The conversation is easy to hold, and he doesn’t feel pressured into speaking about uncomfortable details of his life. The four of them agree to eat together again the next day, and Riki goes back to class with Eunchae. He learns a lot about her.

She aims for a law degree, and wishes to keep singing in her free time. When Riki tells her he’s dancing, she offers to practice together sometimes, it would only be better to improve in both domains. He immediately accepts, and then, they resume their usual talk about their timetable, complaining about the way they finish so late on thursday.

Surprisingly enough, they never run out of things to tell the other, the contact is just so easy, they click so well. And then, by the end of their last period, they wait for the bus together. Kyujin and Haruna are already going back home, and since they live closer, they walk.

“Riki, I have a question, do you mind ?”

He tilts his head on the side and hums in answer. “No, I don’t think so. What is it about ?” He asks, watching the clear blue sky. It reminds him of when he was younger.

“That picture in your phone case, it’s your family ?” Eunchae finally questions him. She has been eyeing the image since she first saw it at lunch, and as Riki would often put his phone screen against the desk, she had all her time to remember every single detail about it.

She didn’t mean to be nosy, if Riki ever tells her he doesn’t want to talk about it, then she’ll apologize and never bring the subject on the table ever again. She’s just curious. Who could blame her ?

“Oh.” He answers, surprised. “Yeah. Yeah, it is.” He turns his phone the other way around, and smiles when he sees the three of them, in Riki’s hospital room when he was only five years old. It’s the only picture he has of him , and he’s never throwing it away.

It’s all that’s left.

“You were young, but you still look quite the same. It’s like you only matured, not really grew up. Even though you’re… well, tall .” Eunchae remarks, and suddenly Riki notices the way there’s more than ten centimeters difference between the two of them. He chuckles, and looks at himself in the picture. It was already twelve years ago.

“This is my father.” He points at Heeseung, who’s grinning shyly, his hand around Riki’s shoulder. “This is me, and next to me… it’s hmm… my angel, if I could say.” He smiles, and looks at Jaeyun.

Even just before passing away, he was still so pretty and full of love. Heeseung’s hand rests on Jaeyun’s waist, and the three of them look straight into the camera. Jaeyun’s smile is so bright it’s hard to look away. It feels like a fever dream, just to stare at this picture. If Riki didn’t have any evidence of his stay at the hospital, he would have believed his father tricked him into believing it actually happened.

“Your… angel ? You mean your second dad ?”

“Something like that, yeah. I love him with all my heart, and my father loves him so much too. But sometimes you can’t really force fate… It’s the last thing I have that reminds me of him. But he’s still in our heart.”

“Oh..” Eunchae looks away, and suddenly she’s ashamed of herself for having asked such a question. She should have seen it coming, and asking about people's personal lives isn’t something you usually do when you just met them. She sighs. “I’m so sorry Riki, I didn’t mean to be so indiscreet…”

“It’s alright.” Riki offers her a sheepy smile. “He’s my dad, he’s my best friend, he’s my angel. And I know he’s always by my side. He wouldn’t be happy to know I’m still thinking about his death when it happened twelve years ago already.”

“What’s his name ?”

“Everyone calls him Jaeyun, but I’d rather call him Jake. That’s how he told me to call him. And sometimes, I still say his name when I’m lost. I met him when I was at this hospital, and… I remember him being always there for me, and my father. But he wasn’t lucky, to be honest, he had the worst luck I have ever seen, but it never made him appear unhappy. He was always smiling and waving at everyone in the corridors. Somehow, he saved our lives too. But we couldn’t save his…”

“Riki.” Eunchae finally says, eyebrows furrowed. “Did this happen in the hospital next to the mall, outside the city ?”

“Yes, how did you know ?” He replies, surprised, and tries to understand how Eunchae, whom he knows for only half a day, could already guess this from what she heard.

“To think we could have met there before…” She sighs, half smiling. “I’m Hong Eunchae, I’m Hong Joshua’s daughter, the surgeon of this hospital. I recognized the walls, they’re not the same in the other hospitals of the city.”

“Oh-” Riki opens his eyes widely, and realizes the fact that, yes, maybe, it makes complete sense for her to know, since well, she’s the surgeon’s daughter. “So… you know about him ?”

“Jeonghan always tells me about him, when he has nothing better to do, at least. He knew him very well. Even my father can’t help but let his thoughts converge on Jaeyun. Everyone who has or had connections with the hospital knows about him.”

“Jeonghan… As in Yoon Jeonghan ?”

“I mean more like Hong Jeonghan now that he’s married to my father but yes. We’re talking about the blond man who always has something to say right ? One of the Doctors of the hospital.” Riki nods, and Eunchae continues. “Yes, well, he got married to my father ten years ago, and they’re still together.”

“Are you still in contact with the hospital staff members ?” He finally asks, and suddenly he understands why Eunchae and him click so easily. They’ve been around the same people for a long time, without even realizing it.

It’s already a miracle they haven’t even met each other considering Heeseung still hangs out with some of the hospital staff members when he feels like it.

“Of course, almost everyday.” She chuckles. “I feel like we have a lot to say to each other.. After all.”

To which Riki only answers a “For sure.” before looking at the sky once again. ‘See that, Jake ? You’re still so present everyone talks about you…like you said, you will never leave.’
