Meguru's Fool Proof Guide To Getting The Guy

Chapter 4: Step 3: Brefriending the- Wait HUH?!

Chapter Text

“Isagi Yoichi. Isagi Yoichi. Bachira Yoichi or maybe Isagi Meguru. Oh! What if we hyphen our names? Bachira-Isagi Meguru. Bachira-Isagi Yoichi. Isagi-Bachira Yoichi. Isagi-Bachira Meguru. Or what if-”

“Oh my god, Meguru shut up!” Chigiri shouted as he threw a bottle at the boy's head. It was just hours after the show and Bachira had been rambling for hours talking about the blueberry boy. The sun had long since set and while Gagamaru had gone straight home to work with Riachi on the music and sleep, Chigiri and Bachira found themselves roaming the city.

They were taking a pit stop at a convenience store. It wasn’t on the impromptu agenda but Bachira wanted candy and Chigiri needed the rest anyways. Right now they were in the drink aisle and Bachira was nursing a sore head, glaring at Chigiri.

“Princess what the hell?! That hurts you know?”

“Kinda the point dumbass. Can you hurry up, I’d like to be home before midnight thank you.”

“Yeah yeah… What do you think, cherry pineapple or coconut plum?”

“To drink with your sour-blasted gummy worms??” Chigiri couldn’t hide the disgusted expression he made and he didn’t think he wanted to. It only got worse as Bachira laughed and picked up both as he went to browse the chips section. Bachora was an enigma and Chigiri couldn’t believe he was still standing most days.

They made light conversation about nothing, careful not to be too loud. There were few people in here, just a few night stragglers here and there but considering the time, it was only respectful not to be too obnoxiously loud.

They ended up in the back of the store when they heard the chimes of the door opening. Bachira was too busy examining the riceballs to notice but Chigiri was slightly paranoid and wanted to know who entered.

Peering around one of the shelves, his eyes darted toward the door as he watched a pair of people step inside. They wore hats and he couldn't see their faces but they had very distinct builds. One was shorter with a lightly built frame. He wasn't overly skinny but he wasn't muscular. The other was the exact opposite, tall with a body that showed through the hoodie he wore.

They had duffel bags that seemed full of something. The shorter had his slug across his body while the taller had his just hanging off his shoulder. When they started to move, Chigiri drew back and offered his opinion on Bachira’s food choices whenever asked. He largely ignored the two and thankfully by the time he remembered them, they were already at the counter paying for everything.

Unfortunately, the reason why he remembered them is because they made themselves known.

“Princess? Is that you?” Chigiri froze as the voice ignited a memory in him. Bachira turned around first and Chigiri knew he had to as well even if he wanted to do anything but. As he turned he was met with the same build and frame he saw from afar as well as one that he had hugged and cuddled with for months.

“Hi…Kunigami…”

“Sooo…. Anything you want to tell me, Hyouma?” Bachira asked. Sitting on Chigiri’s bed, he threw a passing glance at the clock before looking back to Chigiri who was face-first into a pillow.

“What’s there to say? The ex I’ve been avoiding like the plague is best friends with your crush.” His voice was slightly muffled as he spoke and Bachira didn’t speak as he just patted the boy on the back. He had offered his snacks to the boy as well as some stuff they had in the apartment. It didn’t work but it was one am and Bachira was a dreadfully curious guy.

“Well… How about you tell me the situation so I can work around the guy?”

“Do you want me to talk about this because you’re nosey or because you want to help?” Even when he was embarrassed he was snarky. Fitting but annoying.

“Both. Plus I don’t think either of us are sleeping soon so might as well. I could even be your therapist for the night!”

“A therapist provides help.”

“I can be of help!” Bachira said, pouting at the redhead. A pillow hit his head and he was met with Chigiri’s usual aloof grin. “Hey, you’re smiling again! That’s what I like to see.”

“Oh shuddup… What time is it anyway…?”

“More than enough for you to give more Chigirin lore.“

“Fine fine. If you must know, I dated Kunigami Rensuke for about a year, almost two. I was a figure skater and I met him through that.”

“Huh… Didn’t expect figure skating.”

“Cut the bullshit.”

“Sorry sorry continue, your highness.”

With a sigh, Chigiri began to tell Bachira about his younger years when he spent days on the ice and how he always had the same person in his audience. It didn’t matter if it was a show, competition, or rehearsal, he was always there. Bright orange hair and gentle eyes that glittered every time they made eye contact. His older sister was Chigiri’s coach and because of that, they spent hours together slowly falling for each other as time passed. Chigiri described him as princely and so it wasn’t a surprise that Chigiri confessed first one random night in winter when he thought no one was listening.

They broke up due to conflicting interests. Chigiri suffered an intense injury on the rink and during the recovery period, Kunigami consistently asked one question. Would he return to figure skating when he was healed? Chigiri couldn’t believe that was the most important thing to him and to the point he asked about once a week, even after he was out of recovery. They broke up on bad terms and with this new knowledge, Bachira’s foolproof guide needed some revisions.

No guide is perfect though so some additions and revisions shouldn’t throw too much of a wrench into his plans, right? …Right?
