Chapter Text
The dorms were a mixed blessing and curse. A blessing because Katsuki now had an excuse to spend all her time with Izuku. A curse because there were always extras around and they were still trying to keep their relationship under wraps.
It was honestly surprising that no one found out about Katsuki being an omega after her kidnapping and Izuku’s subsequent feral rescue. The heroes were apparently very good at hiding details from the public eye and coming up with cover stories when needed.
“Katsuki!” Mina yelled as she threw her arms around Katsuki’s shoulders. They were on the way to class so Katsuki did not stop and just dragged Raccoon Eyes with her. “We’re having a girls night tonight in my room. You’ll be there, right?”
“Why would I want to hang out with you extras?” Honestly, Mina and Jiro were not too bad most of the time, but the others drove her crazy.
“It’s good to get away from all the boys once in a while. We’ll let you pick what our first activity will be.” She tried to tempt Katsuki, but it would take more than that. Katsuki raised an eyebrow and gave her an unimpressed look. “We’ll also have spicy snacks.”
That was a little more tempting. “Like what?”
“You name it, we’ll get it. Me and Jiro are making a run to the store after class.”
Katsuki gave a vicious smile. She proceeded to list off half a dozen snacks that she knew no one else would eat. “If you manage to get all that, I’ll come. But only for the snacks.”
Mina cheered like she had won the lottery. It was ridiculous, but Katsuki did not mind. It was nice to have people want her around. It had been a while since she got that from anyone other than Izuku.
About an hour after classes ended, Katsuki received a text from Mina. It was a picture of all the snacks she asked for sitting on a black with pink polka dots bed spread. It also said they were meeting in an hour. Katsuki rolled her eyes. But, an hour later she was standing in front of the designated door.
As soon as it opened Katsuki regretted coming. The high pitched squeals hurt her ears, and that was coming from someone who was frequently surrounded by the noise of explosions with no problem. Mina grabbed her and dragged her inside, pushing her to sit down between Ears and Ponytail. “Glad you made it,” Jiro commented with a smirk.
“Whatever.” Katsuki slumped into the beanbag she had been shoved into. “Where are the snacks?”
Jiro passed over a bag of spicy chips and Katsuki occupied herself with that in order to ignore the excited chatter around her. After a few minutes, Mina stood up and clapped to get everyone’s attention. “Alright, girls. It’s time to get things started. I had a few ideas for activities. We could do spa day, paint nails, fashion show, so to speak, or talk about what boys we like.” Katsuki groaned. This is why she did not like hanging out with other girls. All of that sounded awful, especially talking about boys. She already had a guy and could not tell anyone. Mina continued, “I promised Bakugo that she get’s to decide, so what will it be?”
All eyes turned to Katsuki. She ran through the options in her head and quickly chose the least awful. “Paint nails, I guess.”
The girls cheered and started pulling out different colors of nail paint. Katsuki was surprise to find a lot more variety than she expected. Of course the common colors like pink, purple, and red were there as well as some obnoxiously bright colors, but there were also some more subdued options. Katsuki decided on an army green that would compliment her hero costume with a single orange nail for highlight. Of course it would be covered by her gloves when she did wear the costume, but it was still fun.
The conversation flowed as they waited for their nails to dry. Everything from training and school to preferred clothing brands was discussed. Everyone was surprised by how passionate Katsuki was about the last topic. “I really did not expect you to care about fashion,” Round Cheeks said. “All you ever wear is t-shirts and baggy pants.”
Katsuki clicked her tung. “First of all, just because I don’t want to dress super feminine does not mean I am ignorant of fashion. Second, my parents are both designers. It would be impossible not to pick this stuff up.”
That got everyone excited. They asked so many questions about Katsuki’s parents that she considered blasting her way out of the room. Luckily, Jiro seemed to notice her growing irritation. “I think we should change the topic before Bakugo blows up the room.”
Thank you.
“Great idea,” Mina piped in with a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Let’s talk about love instead.”
No!
Jiro was the first victim of Mina’s new topic. She flung her arms around the dark haired girl’s shoulders and leaned in. “So, I hear you have a thing for a certain electric blond.”
“What?” Jiro turned bright red. “No, I don’t. He’s just a friend.”
“If that’s true why are you turning so red? It’s just us girls here. No reason to be so shy.” Mina pressed further. “I know the real reason you tease him is because you think he’s so cute when he pouts at you.”
At first Katsuki scoffed at the thought even as Jiro furiously denied it. It seemed silly that Ears would be into Dunce Face. But then she thought about how Izuku would react to her teasing. Either he would pout or blush and either way it was adorable. Maybe Ears teasing Dunce Face was the same thing.
“You serious about him?” Katsuki asked. Her question seemed to silence all the other voices teasing Jiro.
Ears dropped her eyes to the floor. “I’m not sure. I mean he is funny and fun and I like teasing him, but I don’t really know beyond that.”
Mina squealed at that. “Love! It’s so sweet in its early stages.” She then turned to Katsuki. “Speaking of love, what about you?”
Katsuki kept her face neutral as she lifted an eye brow. “What about me?”
“Come on,” Raccoon eyes leaned over to her. “I know for a fact that Kirishima has his eyes on you. Do you like him back? A big strong alpha like that is any girls dream!”
Katsuki blinked in surprise. “What are you talking about? Stupid Hair likes me? You’re definitely seeing things.” On a good day Katsuki might admit that Kirishima was her friend, but they would never be anything more than that.
Mina clutched her heart dramatically. “Poor Kirishima! You deny him so easily.”
Katsuki rolled her eyes. “Come on. It’s not like that. I just think you extras are seeing things that aren’t there.”
“Fiiiine.” The pink girl flopped down dramatically. “You’re no fun.” She pulled herself up and started looking for the next victim. “Uraraka!”
At her name, Round Cheeks instantly started sweating and fidgeting nervously. “Yes?”
“I’m definitely not seeing things with you. I know how you look at a certain alpha. You like him.~”
A blush spread over her round cheeks. “I mean, I guess I might have someone I like.” She tapped her index fingers together and stared at the ground. Her voice was soft. “It’s just that, Izuku is really amazing, you know?”
Katsuki sat up at that. Her inner omega growled at the threat to her claim. “Stop right there,” It took a lot of effort not to growl at the other girl. “You like Izuku?”
Round Cheeks nodded. “You’ve known him for years, right? What would you recommend?”
“Give up.” Katsuki answered in a cold voice. “He’s already taken.”
Everyone stared at Katsuki with open mouths. Ponytail cleared her throat. “If Midoriya had a significant other, I’m sure that would have come up at some point.”
“Oh really?” Katsuki scoffed. “And why is that? Because you guys are such good friends with him? I’ve known Izuku since elementary school and I’m telling you he has a girlfriend.”
Uraraka scoffed. “Sure he does. Or maybe, you’re just jealous that your friend is starting to pay attention to someone other than you.”
A growl rumbled in the back of Katsuki’s throat. “Say that again. I dare you!”
“You’re jealous and insecure.”
Katsuki launched across the room, hands sparking. She almost reached the round cheeked girl before arms grabbed around her middle and stopped her. “Calm down, Bakugo!” Mina cried. Jiro helped her in pulling Katsuki back. Uraraka had jumped up and backed up to the wall.
Ponytail moved to stand in the middle. “We all need to calm down. There’s no reason to fight and none of us want to get in trouble with Aizawa.”
Even Katsuki could agree to that last part. She took a deep breath and forced her muscles to relax. Once it was clear she was no longer planning to attack, the others let her go.
“Maybe we should talk about something else,” The invisible girl suggested.
“Or better yet, I’ll leave.” Katsuki grabbed the remaining spicy snacks and stomped out of the room.
————
It was painful to admit that there was any truth to what Round Cheeks had said. Katsuki was not jealous that Izuku was spending time with other people. However, she may have been a little jealous that he was spending time with a girl who admitted liking him and jealous that said girl could openly flirt with him without fear.
She was starting to wonder how Izuku had not noticed. Uraraka was always at Izuku’s side throughout the day and when they all hung out in the common room she always sat next to him. The nerd did not seem to pay her any special attention and that was the only fact keeping Katsuki’s instincts in check. He talked to Round Cheeks the same as he did to Glasses and his other friends. It was still frustrating.
Katsuki wondered if Izuku felt her annoyance through the bond.
An arm flung around Katsuki’s shoulder as she glared at the other girl from across the common room. “What’s got you all worked up, Bakugo?” Kirishima’s overly cheerful voice asked.
Katsuki shrugged his arm off. “Nothing.”
“Sure.” He did not sound convinced, but still dropped the topic. “The squad was thinking of having a SmashHeroes contest. Want to join in?”
“I’ll kill all of you.” Katsuki smirked. “Both in and out of the game.”
“You’re on!” The arm was back around her shoulder as they headed over to where Dunce Face and Ears were setting up the console. At least it was a good distraction.
As expected, Katsuki dominated the game. She had just finished pounding Dunce Face and Raccoon Eyes into the ground when Kirishima threw his arms around her in a celebratory hug. Katsuki stiffened when she felt irritation pour from Izuku’s side of the bond. A quick glance in the alpha’s direction revealed he was glaring at the red head hugging her.
Katsuki pushed her clingy friend off of her and headed to the kitchen. From there she texted her nerd.
Katsuki: Jealous?
Deku: No! Why wold I be jealous?
She smirked at the quick response. He was not fooling anyone.
Katsuki: If you say so
After grabbing some water, Katsuki headed back to the common room. Izuku’s eyes were fixed on her. She smirked at him. “Hey Nerd, want to come show these idiots how it’s done?”
He immediately smiled and jumped up and away from a disgruntled Round Cheeks. “You’re on!”
The game was much more entertaining after that. Izuku was able to give Katsuki a run for her money and they were both very competitive. Katsuki laughed maniacally as she defeated Izuku and took the lead. “Take that! Three out of five makes me the victor. Once again, I am the best.”
Izuku groaned and flopped back dramatically. “I almost had it, too.”
“Izuku?” Round Cheeks leaned over the back of the couch right next to Izuku’s head. “I was wondering if you could help me with something on the History of Heroics assignment? Please?” She fluttered her eyelashes and Katsuki rolled her eyes.
Like always, Izuku could not turn down a request for help. He let out a huff of air and gave a small strained smile. “Sure thing, Uraraka.”
Katsuki did not even look at the nerd as he walked away. There’s nothing to worry about. He’s my mate. Izuku would never betray that. She just wished they could tell everyone else that.
————
Despite what some might think, Izuku was not oblivious. He knew that Uraraka was flirting with him. Even if he had not noticed at first, the way that Katsuki’s jealousy filtered through the bond was enough to tip him off. He just was not sure what to do about it.
He also was not blind to the way Kirishima was way too comfortable around Kacchan. And worse Kirishima had started giving the omega soft looks when Katsuki was not paying attention. It was all too easy to see the attraction that the red head felt. If not for the bond, Izuku might be worried. Fortunately he knew that Katsuki felt nothing but mild annoyance toward the alpha’s advances.
A knock on his dorm door pulled Izuku out of his spiraling thoughts. He opened the door to find a very irritated Kacchan. “Move, Nerd.” Izuku stepped aside and let the grumpy girl in.
As soon as his door was closed, Katsuki grabbed Izuku and slammed him against the closed door. She growled before slamming their lips together. “I hate this.” She grumbled between kisses. “I hate having to pretend I don’t care when she flirts with you.” Another kiss. “Pretend you’re not my alpha.”
“Same,” Izuku mumbled. “I just want to chase all those other alphas away from you.”
He lifted his mate up and carried her over to the bed. They lay down and snuggled together. Sent patches were removed so they could cover each other in their sent.
“Round Cheeks said she likes you,” Katsuki’s voice was quiet, but full of venom. “I told her you have a girlfriend and she refused to believe me.”
Izuku hummed. “If she ever confesses, I’ll turn her down. You know that.”
“I know.” She nuzzled into Izuku’s chest. “I just hate watching her.”
“Me too.” Izuku gave a small smile. “I keep wishing it was you leaning on me asking for help.”
“Like I would need help,” Kacchan scoffed.
“I know. But it’s not like she actually needs the help either.”
They both lay in silence for a while after that. Enjoying each other’s company.
“My heat is coming in a few weeks,” Katsuki commented. It was the only one of her three yearly heats that landed while school was in session, the others would be burning breaks.
“I know,” Izuku murmured. “I think my rut will be sinked up with this one.”
Kacchan rolled her eyes. “Of course it has to sink up with the one that we have to be at school for.”
“I won’t be able to spend it with you,” Izuku continued. “Even if we didn’t have to worry about control, the other’s will know when I’m in rut and if you were here...”
“I know,” Kacchan assured. “I can keep my heat hidden with supersets and scent patches, but alpha ruts are a lot more intense. How was your last one?”
Izuku hummed in thought. “My last rut was before we bonded, but after I claimed you. I spent the whole time pacing around growling and wishing you were there. I don’t think I would have even done anything more that hold you, but it drove me nuts that I did not know where you were or who you were with.” He wondered how much worse that would be now that they were bonded. “We spent your last few heats together. You said having me there really helps. Will you be okay without me?”
Kacchan shrugged. “I’ll manage. It’ll probably drive my instincts up the wall, but we need to be able to do this. As heroes there is always a chance our work won’t allow us to get off to help each other. What if one of us is on a more long term mission? We should just think of this as another form of training.”
“Kacchan is so smart.” Izuku smiled at his mate. She seemed to think of everything.
“‘Course I am. Now go to sleep, stupid pillow.”
Izuku laughed once more before pulling his omega close and letting himself drift off.
————
“What the heck is this?” Katsuki glared down at the bouquet of flowers in front of her. She was already in a terrible mood. Her heat had started that morning and when she called Izuku, the nerd was already in rut and could not leave his room to bring her scented items. Now she had to deal with this.
“Flowers?” Kirishima said as if he was not sure despite the fact that he was the one offering them.
“I can see that, idiot. I meant why are you giving them to me?”
The red head scratched at the back of his hair. “I thought it was obvious. It’s because I like you.”
Katsuki sneered at the alpha. “Seriously?”
“Of course!” He did not seem discouraged by her reaction. “You’re so cool and strong and smart. It’s super manly! Or womanly? Either way you’re really amazing!”
Katsuki just shook her head. “Look, Kirishima, you’re a good friend or whatever, but I’m not interested.”
His smile fell just a little. “Right. I guess you probably want to focus on hero training for now.” He lowered the flowers and his gaze. Sharp teeth chewed at his lip for a moment before looking back into Katsuki’s eyes. “I’m willing to wait. You’re worth waiting for.”
“What?” Katsuki’s mouth hung open. “I meant I’m not interested at all. I don’t want a romantic relationship with you, Stupid Hair. That’s not going to change. You can accept that and stay my friend or you can shove off.” She did not give the alpha a chance to reply before walking away and towards class.
Her body was feeling achy and she wanted her alpha so much. All of that had to be shoved to the back as Katsuki made her way to class. This was just another form of training. That is what she needed to focus on.
The day dragged by far too slowly. By the time the last class ended, Katsuki was exhausted. She slowly packed her bag and trudged back toward the dorms. All she wanted was to collapse into her nest and maybe call Izuku.
Maybe her exhaustion was why she did not notice the red haired idiot until he was pulling her off the path and pushing Katsuki up against a tree. “I know what you said earlier, but I think you should give me a chance!”
Katsuki could only blink at the boy in shock. She had already turned him down. How much more clear could she be?
“I was talking to Uraraka and she said I should just show you, so that’s what I’m going to do.” Suddenly his lips were pressing against Katsuki’s. Everything in her revolted at the touch of someone other than her bonded mate. Panic flooded Katsuki’s system. Memories of unwanted hands groping her and pinning her down flooded her mind. Explosions burst from Katsuki’s hands as she shoved the alpha away. As soon as she was free, Katsuki ran. She did not know where she was going and she did not care. As long as it was away from here.
————
Rage boiled just under the surface as Izuku paced around his room. He could feel panic through the bond. Kacchan was not answering her phone and Izuku was not supposed to leave his room during his rut. He thought about calling one of Kacchan’s friends to see if she was alright. Kirishima was the most likely to know where she was, but there was no way Izuku was calling the alpha who so clearly liked his mate. Ashido and Kaminari were too likely to ask questions about why he was calling and then gossip to the whole class. Sero might be a good option.
Izuku paused in his pacing. The problem with calling Sero was that Izuku did not have his number. A growl slipped from the alpha’s lips. Perhaps he could call one of his own friends. Uraraka was out of the question. She would definitely get jealous and cause problems. Iida and Tsuyu would ask too many questions. Todoroki would probably have no idea where Kacchan was and he had no idea how to be subtle while finding out. In the end none of the options allowed Izuku to find out without risking rumors and possibly having their secret get out.
He tried calling her one more time. With each ring he clenched and unclenched his free fist. As soon as the voicemail started, Izuku slammed the end call button and rushed to the door. Forget the rules. His omega needed him.
Izuku yanked his door open and froze. There in front of his door stood Uraraka. She was holding a tray of food and blushing. “Izuku! I was just thinking that you might want something to eat.”
He did not have time for this. A snarl stretched across his lips and a growl rumbled from his chest. “Move.” He did not mean for it to come out as a command, but he also did not really care at the moment.
The beta paled as she stumbled out of his way. Izuku did not even look back at her as he ran to the stairs. A few other classmates tried to call out to Izuku along the way. He did not pay attention as he ran out of the building.
As soon as he was outside, Izuku let his instincts guide him. He ran toward the forest at the edge of campus. He caught a glimpse of Kirishima along the way. The other alpha looked worried and that only spurred Izuku on. His quirk crackled to life adding to his speed.
Trees blurred past him as he ran. After what felt like forever, Izuku finally caught the faint sent of distressed omega. He followed the sour sent until he spotted his mate’s blond hair. She was curled in a ball at the foot of one of the trees.
Izuku dropped down in front of Kacchan and wined softly. He pumped out as much soothing sent as he could. Slowly she lifter her head to meet Izuku’s eyes. “Alpha?” She whimpered so lowly.
Quickly, Izuku pulled his mate into his lap. They sat like that for a while just rocking back and forth. Slowly the scent of distress disappeared as did the feeling of panic. “What happened?” Izuku asked quietly.
“That stupid haired idiot happened,” Kacchan muttered. Her voice was rough and strangely small. “I thought he was different. That I could trust him. I was wrong.” She sniffed before nuzzling into Izuku’s chest. “I feel so stupid.”
“You’re not stupid, Kacchan.” Izuku had to push down the urge to hunt down the red head and tear him apart. He needed to know what happened first. “What did Kirishima do?”
“He confessed this morning and I turned him down of course.” Izuku nodded. That was not unexpected at this point. “Then after class, he pulled me off the path and k-kissed me.” She gasped and sobbed. “I couldn’t stop him. It felt so gross, just like-“ She cut off her own sentence with another quiet sob. “I ran before he could do anything else.”
They sat quietly for a few minutes as Izuku forced himself to think through what to do rather than react on instinct. He needed to protect Kacchan. Keeping their relationship a secret was obviously not doing that. Also, people would definitely have questions after seeing him run out of the dorm like that during his rut.
“I think we should tell people that we’re dating. Also, I’m going to punch Kirishima in his stupid face.” Maybe that last part was not logic based, but it was necessary right now.
Kacchan nodded against his chest. “Okay.”
The alpha stood with Kacchan cradled in his arms. They walked back slowly toward the dorms. Kirishima saw them walking, but a glare from Izuku was enough to get him to stay silent and simply trail behind them to the dorms.
They walked in to find most of their class gathered in the common room. Uraraka was the first one to speak. “Izuku, where did you run off to? We were so worried.”
“I don’t want to hear that from you,” the alpha growled in response. “And next time Kacchan tells you something about me, you should listen to her. I don’t need you to provide for me during my rut and I will not put up with any more flirting. Am I clear?”
The room was quiet as everyone stared at the angry alpha. They had not seen Izuku like this before. He spun to face the red head who had just entered and was hiding along the edges of the room. “And you!” Izuku set Katsuki on her feet gently and placed himself between her and Kirishima. Izuku’s fist shot forward faster than the other alpha could react. Green lightening sparked around him as a quirk enhanced punch hit Kirishima squarely in the nose. “How dare you force a kiss on someone who has already turned you down!”
“I’m Sorry! I-“ The red head tired to speak up as he cradled his definitely broken nose. Izuku cut him off.
“No excuse will be enough. You know some of what Kacchan has been through. Do you have any idea how hard it was for her to even trust an alpha enough to be around them? You were there at the sports festival. You should have known better.” A snarl twisted Izuku’s lips. “If I catch you near my girlfriend again, I will kill you.”
“Girlfriend?!” Uraraka yelled from her spot cowering behind Iida.
Izuku turned back to her and the group. He wrapped his arms around Kacchan and pulled her to his chest. Kacchan was the one to answer the other girl’s implied question. “Yes, I’m his girlfriend.” Her voice still had a slight tremor, but it was much better than when Izuku found her. “We’ve been together since middle school. Got a problem with that?”
No one seemed to know what to say in response. Everyone avoided eye contact as Izuku scanned the room with a glare. A few shook their heads to indicate that they had no problem. “Good.” Izuku scooped Kacchan back into his arms and headed to his dorm room. He did not care what people would think. He needed his mate by his side.
————
As soon as the couple were out of the room, Kirishima collapsed to the ground. “I feel like such an idiot.”
“It’s not your fault,” Uraraka assured. “You had no way of knowing Bakugo was in a relationship with someone. Honestly, I don’t get why they hid it for so long.” She let out an annoyed huffed.
Kirishima felt waves of self loathing roll over for what he had done. Feelings that were probably reflected in his scent. “That is no excuse. When I first started hanging out with Bakugo, she was always hesitant around me. It took a long time for her to get comfortable. I thought that meant she was starting to like me, but looking back at what she had been through, it might have just been getting over trauma. Trauma that I just made way worse.”
“You didn’t know,” Mina said dropping down next to him on the floor. “And we can’t change the past. We just have to choose where to go from here.”
“What I don’t get is why you kissed her,” Kaminari piped up. “At lunch you were all sad that she turned you down. You said nothing about planning to try again.”
Kirishima scratched at the back of his head with the hand that was not cradling his broken nose as he tries to pull himself out of his own head enough to answer. “Oh. It was actually Uraraka’s suggestion that I keep trying.”
All eyes turned to the mentioned brunette girl. She glanced around and scoffed. “Well, it seemed like good advice after the other day. I thought she was just a jealous jerk who didn’t like Izuku spending time with me. A new relationship would be good for her. How was I supposed to know that she was actually dating Izuku this whole time?”
“That’s no excuse!” Kirishima felt anger growing at the brunette beta. “I never should have kissed her like that and you shouldn’t have encouraged me. It sounds like you’re the one who was jealous this whole time.”
“I just wanted him to like me back! Is that so wrong?”
Yaoyorozu stepped between the arguing pair. “Calm down. We all should have trusted Bakugo when she said Midoriya was in a relationship or we should have talked to the alpha himself. Ignoring that warning led to all of this.”
“For now,” Iida cut in, “I think we should all give the two of them some space until we are able to get the full story and see where they want to go from here.”
Slowly everyone started trickling out to their own rooms. Mina stayed with Kirishima as he watched them go until it was just the two of them. “Are you going to be okay?” She asked.
Slowly he nodded. “I think so. Eventually. What I did was wrong and I should have known better. If Bakugo wants me to stay away after this I understand.” Tears pricked at the corner of his eyes, but he tried to ignore them.
“You weren’t trying to hurt her,” Mina assured. “Don’t let yourself get too torn up about this whole thing.”
Kirishima nodded even though he knew that he would be furious at himself for a long time.
————
Izuku’s rut only lasted three days. Kacchan stayed with him for the last two. When they finally returned to classes the morning after, everyone avoided eye contact with the pair. Izuku did not care. After what they had done to him and his mate, it would take a lot to earn back either of their trust.
Unfortunately, some classmates seemed to have no intention of trying to earn that trust back. As they went to lunch, Uraraka moved to walk beside Kacchan. “Hey, Bakugo, could we talk for a minute?”
Kacchan narrowed her eyes at the other girl. “Why exactly would I want to talk to you?”
“Please?” Uraraka gave a pleading look. “I just think we had some misunderstandings and I want to clear the air.”
Kacchan and Izuku exchanged uncertain glances. The blond sighed before grudgingly agreeing. “Fine.”
After everything that happened, there was no way that Izuku was about to trust Uraraka alone with his mate. So, as soon as the two started walking away, Izuku followed a short distance behind them. He stopped just around the corner from where the girls stopped. From there he could hear whatever was said and react accordingly.
“Do you feel proud of yourself?” Uraraka asked in a frustrated tone.
“I think you’ll have you be more specific.” There was a smirk obvious is Kacchan’s voice. “I have a lot of things to feel proud of.”
The beta hissed her response. “You made me look like a fool and a jerk. You have been stringing Izuku along this whole time, keeping him away from any better options while laughing behind the backs of anyone who liked him too.”
There was a pause, no doubt Kacchan was contemplating those accusations. “Let me explain some things to you, Round Face. Izuku and I are legitimately in love with each other. I knew from day one that you would never stand a chance with him. If I wanted to just laugh at your efforts, I would not have bothered telling you that he was taken. The only one who made you look like a fool and a jerk was yourself.”
The sound of a slap split the air. Izuku went to jump around the corner, but as soon as he looked he saw Kacchan had a hand stealthily raised in his direction. Of course she knew he was there and it seemed she wanted him to wait. Cautiously, he pulled back till he was just peeking around the edge of the wall.
“You think you’re so great, don’t you?! Well, here’s the truth. You don’t deserve Izuku! You don’t even deserve to be in this school! You’re nothing but a slut with too much ego for her own good. You will never make a good mate. Izuku should be with me!” Uraraka was screaming at this point.
“Really?” Kacchan’s voice was uncharacteristically calm. Through the bond Izuku could feel annoyance, but also smug satisfaction. “What do you think about all that, Izu?” She called out.
Izuku stepped out from his hiding spot. His face was set in a cold glare. At the sight of him, Uraraka’s face lost all color. “Uraraka,” Izuku put as much ice into his voice as he could. “Kacchan is by far the strongest, most beautiful, loving partner I could ever ask for. She pushes me to make myself better while also striving to be the best she can be. There is no one more suited to being my mate.”
Izuku stepped closer. Uraraka’s face was a mix of anger and fear as he continued. “However, even if I was not with Kacchan, I would never be with you. All of this has really shown your true colors. You always were pushy when it came to what you wanted, but trying to manipulate and threaten other people is extreme even for you. If anyone here would be a terrible mate and does not deserve me, it’s you. From now on, stay away from me and Kacchan.” He finished with a fierce growl. Without his scent it was not enough to push her into submitting, but it was enough to make her back off.
“Izuku, you have it all wrong,” she tried to protest.
“Don’t call me by my given name. We aren’t friends. It’s Midoriya to you.”
With that Izuku grabbed Kacchan’s hand and headed to the cafeteria. The omega chuckled. “That was priceless. The look on her face when you came around the corner.”
Izuku sighed. “You know, a part of me actually had hoped she would drop it and try to be friends again.”
“That’s because you are an optimist at heart. You always think the best of people even when they don’t deserve it.” Kacchan interlaced their fingers with a smile. “It does feel nice not to have to hide things now.”
Once at lunch, the couple chose not to sit with their classmates. They could see the others looking their way, but chose to ignore it. That is until Kirishima came over to them. “Hey.”
Kacchan just glared at the red headed alpha. Izuku followed her example, but chose to respond with words as well. “Do you need something?”
The alpha scratched the back of his head nervously. “I, um, owe you guys an apology.” He bowed low. “I can probably never make up for the way that I disrespected you and ignored your wishes. I only hope that you can one day forgive me.”
Izuku looked over at Kacchan. It was really up to her if she wanted to forgive him or not. “Did Round Cheeks really tell you to do it?” Izuku’s eyes widened at that. He had no idea that Uraraka was involved.
“Well, she did encourage me to keep trying. But that’s no excuse for what I did. I should not have kissed you. It was not manly at all.”
Kacchan sighed. “Your right, but I also know she was doing everything she could to sabotage me. I can’t trust you right now. Don’t know if I ever will. But, you did not know how much of a trigger that was for me and I know you were just being an idiot.” She leveled Kirishima with a glare. “Just don’t ever do something like that again. Not to anyone ever.”
“I promise!” He bowed again before heading back to the table with the rest of the class.

Life moved on. For a while Izuku and Katsuki felt isolated from the rest of the class. They would only talk to their classmates when required for school. The way they all acted like they were walking on egg shells drove Katsuki up a wall. They looked at Izuku as if they expected him to explode at any moment. It was especially bad with Izuku’s former ‘friends’.
Mina and Jiro were the first to break from this pattern.
Katsuki was working in the kitchen when they approached her. “What ya making?” Mina asked as she leaned against the counter.
The casual question caught Katsuki off guard. She blinked in surprise before sending the other girl a suspicious glance. “Curry. Why?”
“Are you making it hot enough to set mouths on fire?” Jiro asked.
“Only my part.” Katsuki smirked. “Izu’s not a wimp, but he can’t handle quite that much heat yet.”
The other girls giggled. It almost felt like before everything happened. “Any chance there’s enough to share?” Mina leaned over to take a look at the cooking food.
Katsuki gave a small teasing growl. “You trying to interfere with me providing for my alpha?”
Mina gasped dramatically. “We would never.”
With a click of her tongue Katsuki grabbed four bowls and started serving the food up. “Just this once. Got it, losers?”
The other girls smiled as they accepted the food and joined Katsuki when she sat down next to Izuku. Her alpha smiled at the two beta girls. “Hey, guys. I didn’t know you would be joining us.”
Jiro shrugged. “Would you rather we not? We can leave if you want to be alone.” There was no bitterness in the statement, just an honest offer.
Izuku glanced at Katsuki making sure she was okay with it. Then he smiled and turned back to the two girls. “It’s fine. You’re welcome to join us.”
After that it seemed the ice was broken for Katsuki’s old gang. With the exception of Kirishima the others all started hanging out with her again, this time with Izuku as well. When they had video game tournaments, the red haired alpha would keep far enough away to not be a threat, while still being a constant presence. It only took a few weeks of this for Katsuki to loose her patience.
“Stop sulking and get over here, Stupid Hair!”
At her words, the sulking teen perked up. “Are you sure it’s okay?” The words were cautious, but the hope was obvious in his voice.
“As long as it’s with the whole group, you’re fine. Just don’t push Izuku or me.” She assured.
The gang was back together again. The others in class could continue being snobs, glaring at her or looking at Izuku with fear. Katsuki did not care. She was surrounded by those who accepted her the way she was. It was like old times, before the whole falling out. Only this time it was better because Katsuki had her alpha with her.
