Chapter Text

Professor Ronen showed a proud smile. It took less than half an hour for the new fifth year to do her assignment. She must have the inspiration to learn more about the beautiful world of charms. It was a mere minute when she repaired the brokenhearted statue, she came to him afterward.

"Well done, hopefully not another heartbroken student lash out at the statue." His eyes went to her skipping foot.

"It seems like you are hurrying up for Professor Weasly's assignment in Hogsmeade." She nodded with a big smile.

He dismissed the lesson but before opening his eyes, the student disappear like the wind. Maybe she was just eyeing Hogsmeade instead of her schoolwork.

“There is nothing cozier than Hogsmeade.”

Her pace was consistently getting faster as her skips turned to leaps. The headmistress already sent an owl that he was waiting at the exit. Her heart started beating faster and faster. Was she running too fast?

Reaching the exit, she saw him leaning on a wall with his wand up. There were hundreds of ways to greet or rather act cool. Like presenting oneself in a grandiose entrance, or maybe a casual hi. It does take wonders how much she thought, for she was already in front of him. Frozen from the realization.

Sensing a presence, he stood upright and greeted Yor with a grin. Her stomach couldn't ease her butterflies to the point that her head filled with ditzy panic.

"Good to see you've done your assignments." Her head perked up.

"Repero is an interesting and useful spell so it is not a surprise they taught me it early."

"It's useful to get students out of trouble, you would not believe how many times I hear repero in Hogsmeade from Hogwarts students." He earned a chuckle from her.

"I hope you weren't waiting for too long."

"Not at all, I just arrived a few minutes ago.  I've heard you had business in Hogsmeade. I was surprised professor Weasley asked me." Twindeling her hands to her stiff posture. Maybe it was rude to have him as a guide. She was really pushing her luck on this.

"Was it too much? You don't have to go if you don't want to." His face softens from her guilt.

"I was surprised cause I wanted to invite you to the three broomsticks for a Butterbeer. It would be quite a joy to see you flabbergast through town." His hand felt the solid touch of the wooden door. It opened wide and both went out to be kissed by the sun's rays.

"I'm glad, though it might get boring cause I am doing my assignments."

"Don't fret about it. I know what I signed up for and I will give you a great tour of the town." She can't help but grin and giggle like an idiot. Every word he utters was sweet as honeydew.

Another good friend and ally. Her friendship with the different houses will reap benefits. Too bad she couldn't take Natsai and Sebastian along.

"Do you often go to Hogsmeade?"

"I did with the Sallows, Sebastian has a twin sister but is unfortunately sick. We used to go there and visit Zonko's joke shop. Ever since her illness, we never much go to Hogsmeade."

"That's sad to hear."

"Well, that's enough about me. How are you adjusting to Hogwarts? Hopefully no bullying."

"Just friendly banters from the other houses. Though I did witness some bullying from them, the professors berate them immediately, including headmaster Black... kinda." Raising his brow at her comment on the headmaster, he sighed with relief at the somewhat wonderful news.

"Good, some purebloods are annoyingly persistent on their heritage. They show their arrogance to muggle-borns to feel their superiority."

The conversation came to a pause when he sensed her stop. She was in awe of what she was seeing, he theorized. But all made clear when he heard some Hippogriff's caws and the surrounding students' comments.

"Ominis, Hippogriffs are flying out of the forbidden forest. Kinda weird, aren't they suppose to be quite dangerous? and not out of the forest?"

"Poachers, they have been terrorising the poor creatures in the forest. From the hippogriffs alone, it seems the situation is becoming worse."

"The ministry should do something about that or Hogwarts."

"True. There's nothing else we could do but hope. The forbidden forest is an area that Hogwarts banned students from going to. Too dangerous they say."

"Too intriguing and important, I say." He shook his head at her mischievous comment.

Walking down the path, Ominis detected a familiar aura and smell of butterbeer. At this time of day, it was no surprise he would be drunk. Knowing his companion, she would like to meet more of the faculty.

"Mr. Moon, have you met our new fifth year? Yor, this is Hogwarts caretaker Mr. Moon." The caretaker struggled to keep his balance and hiccups his way in every moment. It was not a good first expression for the fifth year.

"You two should go back hic, turn and run. Demi-hic-guise. Ugly and hairy."

"Are you okay, Mr. Moon?" Her voice was tinged with concern, not knowing what it was nor dangerous enough to leave an adult scared.

"Yes, I'll be heading to the ca-hic-stle. Good luck to both of you!" Stammering his uneven footsteps, he marched his way. The Slytherin could sense her adept worry

"Demiguises are peaceful, herbivorous magical beasts. It's not most of all scary, but it would seem it's Mr. Moon's biggest fear."

"Oh, that scared me for a second. I thought it would be something dangerous, like Rookwood or aggressive goblins."

"Hmm, it's good you are informed. There are rumors of some heavily armed goblin area and a dark wizard crime ring led by Rookwood. I'd hope you keep safe."

"I'll have that in mind."

Idle chatters with a faint sound of instruments from the distance whisper to their ears. They have arrived at Hogsmeade. Watering cans raining down plants, flying pages, students conversing, and the light jingles of bells on shop doors. As usual, it was a crowd in Hogsmeade but that did not falter her attempts to eye every corner of it.

Without hesitation, she grabbed Ominis' wrist and went to the very first shop, Tomes and scrolls. Opening the door, she eyed a well-dressed man. Thomas Brown greeted the students and recognise the purpose of the newcomer. Or so he thought. She made a full fast stop to him with eyes glowing with anticipation.

"Sir, what are these scrolls used for? can you just conjure all of these items with or without magic? When was this shop established? How-" A hand tapped her shoulder, it was Ominis tapping her to calm down. She scratched the back of her neck and looked at the surprised spellcraft owner.

"Ah, a curious student aren't you now? These spellcrafts are to help wizards and witches alike to conjure the preferred customed pieces of furniture or decoration. So it would need magic, the conjuring spell. Also, the shop was established in 1768."

"Thank you for the answers and I apologise for my rudeness."

"No problem, but let's get what Professor Weasly ordered from you." Mr. Brown went to the back to retrieve her delivery. She turned to her companion and whispered her thoughts.

"Thanks for preventing me to be seen as a madwoman in front of Mr. Brown."

"There is nothing wrong in asking questions, but you must let the other person answer, one at a time." A light nod and a hum of the agreement were given to him.

"I'll work on my manners." The owner went in front with the scrolls and hand them out to the fifth-year student.

"Thank you, I'll be coming back." They waved their goodbyes and stepped out.

Outside of the shop was a swarm of people going in and out of Hogsmeade, it became a bit more compact. She looked at her companion and exhaled. This might not be as enjoyable as she hoped it would be, especially for him.

"The place is crowded, you can go back if you feel uncomfortable in the crowd." He furrowed his brow at her suggestion.

"As I've said, I know what I signed for. I'll see this through. But if you want to help me ease the trip..." He grabbed her hanging sleeve. In turn, she froze on the spot. Inside her mind, something clicked, she could not verbalize it, just internally screaming. Ominis, on the other hand, was waiting for her response. Of course, he could traverse the crowd but he was a bit worried about letting the curious raven off on her own. Clearing her throat, she turned to the boy.

"It is logical. Plus I do need a buddy to stop my ramblings. I might be here for a week asking questions without you." A light chuckle came through his lips.

Going through shop by shop, gathering items for her future endeavors in Hogswart, she was well mellowed down. Though she would tire her conversationalist without knowing. Ominis would try and cut the conversation short by telling her.

The last stop was getting her wand. It was far from boring, all of the wands she tried either exploded, flew away, or a combination of the two. Ollivander scratched his chin and took out an old-looking wand case.

"You might be the one!" She opened the box and her giggles were heard. A dark oak, 12-inch, dragon core wand.

The wand carried her spells with ease while the wand maker grinned at the success. She kissed her wand and panned to Ollivander.

"It's perfect Mr. Ollivander!" He nodded while giving her the wands' box.

"The wand chooses its owner. Mr. Gaunt there had his wand practically settled to his hands."

"I do remember a group of wandmakers frantically stopping that wand from flying away. Who knew it wanted to go to me."

"It ended well at least."

Hearing the story, she looked at her wand. "I hope we stay together from now on!"

A jingle stepped by and a couple of first years stood in line. On cue, the two fifth-years said their goodbyes and headed off to the center of the town. He guided her to a little sweet tea shop at the corner.

"Maybe we could have a cup of tea. It was quite tiring to go around Hogsmeade." She followed his lead to the table.

A sudden roar burst in the town's circle, it was a troll. With its metal armor and wooden club, it rampages the city. Destroying everything on its path. Fire struck the troll, it was an officer luring the troll away. Others went and help the woman.

"A troll, in Hogsmeade. This is certainly not-" Before he finish another troll came bursting in.

It was targeting the new fifth year. The troll rushes in to slam the girl. On her sidesteps, dodged the attack. The beast rammed instead to another building. The beast noticed the blind student and came swinging at him.

"Ominis be careful!" In no time he parried it with ease and stunning it in place.

"We need to lure it away from the town!" She nodded and began attacking the trolls with a combination of basic attacks and pulling objects to its face. Everything seems to be good until the troll threw its club at her. She didn't have time to move and fell to the ground.

He sensed her drop and began firing on the troll. Without a weapon, it used its two arms to punch away the wizard. Though proven useless how the boy could parry it fast. Frustration kicked in and he pulled two of its arm into the air for a devastating blow. There was nothing he could do, he was too close to dodge that attack and a simple protego could not protect him.

As futile as his shield cast, he closed his eyes and put his arm up. A rough loud scream was heard and soon after thunder. The troll's attack didn't meet him instead its body fell to the ground. He pulled down his shield and scanned what happened. It was her, barely standing. Her worries showed as she was eyeing him, looking for injuries.

"Are you alright-" He ran towards her catching her unbalanced state.

"Here, some wiggleweed potion. Drink up." Slowly, she drank the potion and began to stand.

"Thanks, for the help and potion. For a blind guy, you are a force to be reckoned with."

"I should be the one thanking you, you stopped the beast from giving me a major injury."

Their moment was paused when the officer went back, she saw the troll's remains. Looking at the children and town she was relieved to see them safe.

"A second troll. It's getting unbelievably eerie today. You both did well handling the troll. Are you both alright?"

"We are n-"

"Yes, we are fine." There was a brief silence as he glared at the stubborn girl and her pulling his robe. The officer a bit confused, coughed to fill the awkward silence.

"Great, if you two wouldn't mind, helping me put the things back to where they were?" Yor nodded and grabbed Ominis' cloak to lead him to a destroyed house.

"You know, there is such a thing as trying too hard."

"Repero!" One by one bricks came to the place as the ceiling glued itself together and the door and window returned to its space.

"An excellent reputation is better than a good one. Besides, I drank the potion, and I felt quite fine myself." His silence sounded his judgment. He turned away from her, heading towards the other half of the destroyed area.

Massaging her left shoulder, she winced in pain. This was an opportunity, being a somewhat hero of the town is a good first impression. Being known injured might get them in a long berate by Hogwart's best headmistress. And if her mom were to hear about this, she might worry, a lot.

Focusing on the task at hand, she fixed up a broken statue. She spun around to see other damages. To her surprise, everything was fixed. She swears she saw a tornado aftermath in the town. Her eyes trailed back to her companion who is talking to a tailor.

Notes:

The next chapter might take longer because my test is next week. I'm too distracted and addicted to Hogwarts Legacy and their characters. I just want to make fanfic all day. Hope you guys enjoy!

Notes:

I'm funny and upredictable. Yes, Her name is Yor Naym. Original, huh?

I was torn making original characters or insert fic but why can't we have best in both worlds? Kinda.
