Chapter Text

Tyler carefully picks up multiple empty beer bottles and empty takeout containers while putting all of the dirty clothes into one pile so he could later wash. He sighs coming across a picture of Himself, Wednesday and Kirah back when Kirah was around 13 and already had enough attitude to put both her parents to shame.

He smiled remembering how she used to be glued to him, always following him around the Addams family mansion as he thought of new designs for the bakery he had wanted to open.

-Flashback-

“Rah, Rah, what do you think of this?” Tyler asked handing her a concept picture that he had sketched over the past week.

“ Will there be carrot cake?” Kirah asks looking at the bakery blankly.

Tyler laughed, he of course knew Kirah had no biological connections to him or Wednesday, but it was times like these where he would swear she had inherited her blank emotions and high sarcasm from her mother.

“Should there be?” He asked.

“If you want me as a customer, yes.” She quipped.

“Guess I better add it then.”

-End Flashback-

The memory fades and then another one immediately comes to mind, one that he often tries to blackout, but it still haunts him regardless.

-Flashback 5 years ago-

“Where is my daughter!?” Wednesday’s voice is foreign to him at the moment, never has he heard her display that much emotion except maybe when Tyler had first mentioned adoption and she looked at him as if he had reverted back into his hyde appearance.

“Ms. Addams your daughter was involved in an accident.”

“Was she the perpetrator or the victim!?” Wednesday stresses trying to keep her composure.

“Uh-Victim-”

“I knew I should’ve sent her to knife throwing school.” Wednesday hissed.

The doctor looks at Tyler who only shakes his head, “What happened?” Tyler asks holding his breath.

“Your daughter wasn’t in any fights, except for maybe with herself.”

“Excuse me?” Wednesday asks.

“It would appear your daughter overdosed on Fenta.” He said frowning.

“As in Fentanyl?” Tyler gapes.

“Yes, she’s getting her stomach pumped at the moment, her heart stopped for a few seconds but we were able to get her back-”

Tyler shakes his head in disbelief, “I don’t understand, Kirah doesn’t do Fentanyl.” Tyler says as he looks over to his newly ex wife whose eyes have shifted down to the floor.

“Wednesday, what the hell happened?” Tyler bites down his anger, but he knew she was hiding something.

“Well there was an incident with Uncle Fester and the Pain Tolerance Training that resulted in her injuring her leg, she was in a cast for a few months while being prescribed Fentanyl, I told her to suffer through the pain but her pain tolerance training is still a work in progress.” Wednesday sighs.

“Pain Tolerance Training?” The doctor interjected.

“Don’t worry its safe doctor, just the occasional pricking with needles, and tazor test.” Wednesday assured.

“It obviously isn’t safe if she broke her leg, Should I be calling someone?” The doctor gapes at the two strangest parents he had ever layed his eyes on.

“Don’t bother, she signed a willing consent form and a waiver, plus she didn’t break her leg with the tests, she broke it kicking her uncle which she carelessly forgot has a steel leg.” Wednesday justified. “I told that child, always keep up on your enemies.” Wednesday touts.

“Uh huh..well when you see her we can all talk about the next steps I think your daughter should take.”

“Steps? It was a careless accident, she probably just forgot how many she took.” Wednesday said.

“There’s at least 8 pills in there that we can see with the Endoscopy.” The doctor sternly said. “I don’t think that was an accident.”

“Wait, are you saying our daughters suicidal?” Tyler snapped not at all liking what this doctor was implying.

“Well has she been through anything traumatic this past year?” The doctor asks looking between the two.

Tyler looks over at Wednesday who hadn’t looked at him once the entire time they’ve been at the hospital and sighs.

“We recently divorced, Kirah wasn’t exactly thrilled with it, but I didn’t think-”

“Please Tyler, no ones losing sleep over your absence, and their surely not killing themselves over you, how egotistical can you be?” Wednesday snaps bitterly. “Our daughters not suicidal, end of discussion.”

Tyler wants to interject but he knew once she got like that there was no swaying her or changing her perspective instead he looks to the doctor.

The doctor sighs, “Mental health isn’t always something that can be outwardly seen Ms. Addams, is there a family history of mental disorders in the family tree?” He asks.

“We wouldn’t know, she’s not our blood daughter, we adopted her at an orphanage for outcasts.” Wednesday interjects.

“She’s an outcast? I didn’t see any…uh..special conditions listed in her medical file?” The doctor says looking back through the charts.

“Because she has none, as far as we can tell she’s a normie who probably had outcast parents who just assumed she’d grow up like them.”

“And that would be?” The doctor eyes Wednesday curiously.

“Not a normie.” She says blankly, but her eyes held a look of pure rage.

“Can we see her?” Tyler decides to intervene before Wednesday ended up stabbing the prodding doctor.

“Um that’s another thing, Mr. Galpin i’m afraid she’s requested not to see you at the moment.” He says.

“What, but I'm her father!” Tyler glares at the doctor not believing that his only child would deny seeing him, maybe he would let Wednesday stab him after all.

“I’m sorry Mr. Galpin, but she has requested to see you Ms. Addams.” He says motioning for her to follow him.

“Wednesday, just what have you been telling her?” Tyler hisses at Wednesday feeling his anger flow through him as he tries to block out the hydes raging disapproval in the background of his conscience.

“You really think I'd turn her against you? I think you did that on your own, I'll talk to her, just stay out here.” Wednesday says still not looking at him.

Wednesday begins to follow the doctor leaving Tyler standing there with a million thoughts and feelings racing through his head the biggest one being regret.

- End of Flashback-

He sets the picture back down running a hand through his hair, as he tried his best to steady his now uneven breathing as he fought through a wave of bitter emotions.

He resumes sweeping underneath an old book shelf that he was sure Wednesday had gifted her once she moved out of the family mansion. Only for his broom to sweep out from under the shelf a bottle he recognized all too well.

He could only stare at the bottle his blood running cold at the prescription label.

Someone please give Tyler a hug.
