TommyInnit's guide to being a spy

Chapter 7

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

When Tommy found out he was on the news, he wasn't really that surprised. He's appeared once before on accident while he was at the park. When Tubbo and Ranboo saw it, they unsurprisingly freaked out. But that was ages ago. Before he became a villain. Before they rented out their first apartment.

Now though, this wasn't just some accident.

No.

Because apparently, someone recorded his fight with the Blood God yesterday night, and posted it online. Everyone saw the fight. It's all they've been talking out recently. "Acheron this", "Acheron that".

Some people were praising him for his bravery, while others were calling for his arrest and punishment.

And to make matters worse, Dream found out about it. It is safe to say he wasn't too happy about that...

Needless to say, it hadn't been a fun time to wake up to something like that. And he's off duty for a few days due to his injuries. Luckily for him, they weren't too bad. Just some bruised ribs and a few cuts here and there. Nothing a little ice and sleep couldn't fix.

He didn't mind being away from work, actually. Sure, he misses patrolling and stuff, but he feels like he needs this break. Besides, it's not like he had a choice. After Ranboo patched him up, he basically threatened Tommy that if he doesn't rest, well, let's just say it won't be pretty.

Luckily though, Ranboo managed to find Siren and give him the note, as well as inform him of the fact that Tommy accepted his deal. So overall, despite appearing on the news and literally almost dying, everything turned out okay.

Well, at least, it seems okay from what he's seen so far.

Tubbo suddenly gets up and throws a jacket at Tommy.

"We're going out."

"But why??" Tommy asks as he pulls his hoodie on.

"Just come," Tubbo says before walking away.

Tommy groans and follows after his friend. He'll probably regret this later but whatever. He doesn't even know where we're going. He might as well just try to enjoy it.

Shortly after they leave, they meet with Ranboo at the park.

They walk around for a bit, until they spot a bakery. Nothing too fancy, considering the district they're in. But it's still nice enough.

The smell of freshly baked muffins sits in the air as Tubbo opens the door. They enter.

The place looks mostly empty, save for a young woman behind the counter who gives them a friendly smile. She has short pink hair that's tied in a bun, and blue eyes. Though, the hair stands out more. It's a nice shade of pink, but it reminds him a bit too much to the Blood God for his comfort.

A few tables are occupied by a couple who seem to have an argument over their dessert. The shop is filled with various smells. Some coffee. Cookies. Pastries. Whatever you could find in your local bakery. It smells fucking amazing.

"Hello! How may I help you?" She asks.

As Tubbo begins listing their orders, Tommy can't help but think she sounds a bit familiar. Which doesn't really make sense, because he hasn't seen her before. At least, he doesn't think so. But maybe she's just one of those people who always sounds vaguely familiar.

"-ight, thanks Niki!" Tubbo says, before turning to Tommy and saying, "You and Ran go find a table. I need to grab something else"

Tommy nods before leaving Tubbo to his task. As he walks further into the shop, he notices a table near the wall with a window. That seems a little better than nothing.

He motions for Ranboo to follow him, and they both head towards the table. As they sit down, Tommy's mind starts to wander. He wonders how long it's been since he's been able to just sit down and relax like this. It feels like it's been ages.

Ranboo interrupts his thoughts, "Are you okay, Tommy?"

Tommy snaps back to reality and nods, "Yeah, I'm good. Just tired."

Ranboo nods. “Alright, well if you need anything you can always talk to me.”

Tommy smiles at his friend.

After a couple more minutes, Tubbo comes back with some muffins and three cups of hot chocolate.

“I didn’t know you had money on you.” Ranboo says while staring at the food.

“Oh, I didn’t. I took Tommy’s wallet.”

“Hey!”

Tubbo rolls his eyes. “With you working for Dream, we’re basically rich. Suck it up.”

Tommy pouts and Ranboo and Tubbo snicker.

He sighs.

While they eat, they chat about random shit. They even play a quick game of "Would You Rather", which ends up being hilarious.

It's moments like these that Tommy cherishes. Moments where he can just be himself and enjoy the company of his friends. Moments where he doesn't have to worry about being a villain or fighting against heroes.

As they finish up their food and prepare to leave, Tommy can't help but feel grateful for this day. Despite everything that's been going on, he's glad that he got to spend some time with his closest friends.

But, of course, everything has to go to shit the moment he has a good time.

They all leave the bakery, with Tubbo and Ranboo idly chatting about their plans for the next mission.Tommy trails behind them, lost in thought.

“EVERYONE GET DOWN!”

Tommy gets pulled out of his thoughts by screams of civilians.

There’s police everywhere, people screaming, and- oh no. Tommy nervously looks between the two figures standing in the middle of the chaos.

Dream, and the Angel of Death.

Holy fuck. This is a fight.

“Guys! You’ve got to come see this.” He whispers.

All of them are huddled together in the dark alleyway, watching as Dream and the Angel of Death fight in the street outside. The sound of clashing swords echoed off the nearby buildings, and the ground shook with each impact.

Despite the danger, the three of them couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. Of course, this isn’t the first time they’ve seen them fight, but it’s different from watching it at home on the couch. The live version is way cooler.

As the fight raged on, the Angel of Death slowly gained the upper hand. His attacks were precise and deadly, and Dream struggled a bit to keep up. The three of them cheered silently, hoping that the Angel would win.

Suddenly, the Angel of Death managed to disarm Dream, causing him to stumble back. With a quick movement, the Angel then knocked Dream to the ground and pointed his sword at his throat.

They were too far away to hear what they were saying, but Dream looked defeated.

The Angel of Death helped Dream to his feet and the two of them exchanged a few words before the Angel turned and walked away, disappearing into the darkness.

Tommy, Tubbo, and Ranboo waited a few moments before cautiously emerging from the alleyway. They saw Dream slumped against the wall, looking defeated and utterly furious. Which isn’t that surprising. These days it’s like the only emotion he shows.

Fortunately for them, Dream didn’t see them. Instead, he headed towards some police officers and then left.

By the time they made it home it was almost midnight. Despite doing mostly nothing the whole day, they were all pretty exhausted.

Tubbo and Ranboo quickly headed to their respective rooms to get some much-needed rest. Tommy lingered in the living room for a few minutes, trying to shake off the events of the day.

He walked over to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of water. As he drank, he glanced around the apartment. It wasn't much, but it was home. The walls were painted a pale yellow, and there were a few posters scattered around. A couch and there was a small kitchen in the corner. It was cozy, and he loved it.

He finished his water and headed to his room. As he got ready for bed, he couldn't help but think about what the future held. He knew that things were about to get a lot more complicated, and he wasn't sure he was ready for it. But he also knew that he couldn't back out now. He had made a deal with the Syndicate, and he’d already started giving them information.

He can’t stop now. This means that Tommy will have to keep sneaking into Dream’s office to try and find out more stuff. This time, he hopefully won’t get caught by such a simple mistake.

He climbed into bed and tried to get some sleep, but his mind was racing. He tossed and turned for what felt like hours, unable to quiet the thoughts in his head. Eventually, exhaustion took over, and he fell into a restless sleep.

Notes:

Wow, this took a while huh.

I think I might change the upload schedule from once a week or two, to whenever i'm available, as this fic isn't my first priority and believe it or not i am a bit busy. Especially with school.

But! The chapters will be longer, hopefully around 3k words each.

Hope y'all don't mind this change too much.

Hope you have a nice day/night!

:)
