"Fuck, fuck, fuck." Jamie mutters, groaning angrily as she walked through the hallway.
As she passed by various rooms, she hears a small sound from one of them, causing her to stop.
The door was slightly ajar so she peeked inside.
She sees Kate sitting on the floor of her office, trying to choke back her tears as she repeatedly clicked on a pen, trying to distract herself.
Jamie was confused about many things.
Why did Kate run off like that?
Why did Kate want a relationship with Jamie?
Was that the reason the interviewer kept asking her about Kate?
Jamie's brain was flooded with questions, but her body had different plans.
Jamie slowly opens the door, calmly walking into the office.
Kate hears the door creak open, and she immediately jumps up, looking at Jamie.
"Kate..?" Jamie asks, moving closer to the redhead.
"Get the fuck away, Jamie!" Kate blurts out, backing away from Jamie until she hits the wall behind her desk.
"Hey, Hey.." Jamie tries to calm her down. "I'm not going to hurt you.."
Kate goes silent for a moment before she begins to tear up.
"I'm so fucking sorry, Jamie.." Kate mutters, burying her face into her hands as she begins to sob, physically unable to choke back anymore tears.
"Why are you sorry?" Jamie slowly sits down in front of Kate, trying to keep a small distance between themselves.
"For everything." Kate explains, sniffling as more tears fall.
"What do you mean, 'everything'?" Jamie furrows her eyebrows.
"For this!" Kate blurts out.
Jamie frowns.
"I know you like Erin, Jamie.." Kate admits. "I knew you like her, yet I had to go ahead and say that I wanted a fucking relationship with you! I-I didn't think you'd hear it out of context like that!"
"Oh, Kate.." Jamie mumbles, placing her hand on Kate's knee to comfort her.
Kate sniffles, looking up at Jamie with teary eyes.
"Stop. I'm not worth this. Just go. Go tell Erin that you're in love with her, or something! Leave me the hell alone, Jamie! Please.." Kate begs, her voice broken and shaky.
"I'm not leaving you." Jamie says.
"Go, Jamie.. stop being so difficult ." Kate pleads, closing her eyes, clearly upset.
"No, I'm not leaving." Jamie repeats, gently taking Kate's chin and forcing her to look at her.
"Why the fuck are you being so difficult about this?!" Kate snaps. "You should go be with Erin! I probably made the both of you upset with what I fucking said! You shouldn't fucking be here wit—"
Jamie hugs Kate tightly.
"I.. uh.." Kate mumbles, struggling to breathe as Jamie holds her tight.
"Stop blaming yourself.." Jamie requests, her voice cracking up. "It wasn't your fault, okay? I don't blame you at all.. It's not your fault."
"But it is." Kate whines.
"Please stop." Jamie begs again, holding onto Kate even tighter.
"..why did you come in here?" Kate whispers, her grip slightly tightening on Jamie's shirt. "Why did you.. talk to me? Why didn't you just let me cry?"
"Because I don't like it when you cry." Jamie admits, stroking Kate's hair lightly.
"..you're so nice, Jamie…" Kate chokes out, hugging Jamie tighter. "You shouldn't be this nice to me.."
Jamie slightly backs away, making eye contact with Kate.
"It's.. weird for me too." Jamie admits, slightly chuckling. Kate doesn't say a word, but she keeps eye contact with Jamie.
"Kate, are you—.. woah. What are you doing?" Jamie asks, growing nervous as Kate leans closer to her.
"I don't know.."
Kate gently locks lips with Jamie, pulling her close as if they were meant to be together for eternity.
Jamie slowly closes her eyes, and she returns the action, deepening the kiss.
After a few moments, they pull away for air.
"Wow.." Jamie whispers, her hands trembling with excitement. Kate slightly frowns, gently caressing brownskin's cheek with her thumb.
"I don't get it.. Don't you like Erin?"
"I thought I did." Jamie concludes, looking at Kate. "I thought you didn't like me."
"I thought I didn't."
Jamie smiles, slowly climbing onto Kate's lap.
"You wanna know something funny?"
"What?"
"In my interview, I said that everyone would hate us because we'd be very funny and very hot together."
"Oh, really? Maybe we could test that theory, hm?" Kate raises an eyebrow.
"Are you saying that we should date?"
"Maybe. Would you say yes?"
"Maybe."
Kate and Jamie share one more kiss, and Jamie rests her head on the redhead's shoulder.
"What about Erin?"
"We.. probably weren't going to work out anyways. I'm probably too aggressive for her."
"Well, you're lucky that I like aggressive people."
"Hm. I am lucky, aren't I?"
Kate and Jamie lock eyes once again, and they just sit there, smiling like idiots.
