Chapter 5: Stat Block: Phantom of the Prologue

Summary:

A homebrew stat block for the Dwarf's Mine Blot Monster!

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Description

An embodiment of sorrow and ink, born of the twisted emotions and magical power of a Dwarf who once mourned the loss of someone most dear to him. Legend says that he and his six brothers, all fallen to the same fate, now guard the crystal mines that once rang with the sounds of their singing and laughter. The red of his tattered clothes and the light in his lantern reflect the deep anger his new form harbors.

Because I am a super-nerd, I made a little homebrew statblock for the Dwarf's Mine Overblot monster from the Prologue. The goal here was to create a monster that someone could feasibly use in their own home game, so while not everything here is fully relevant to DOBV (I will never actually write the full combat of reducing all 93 of those hit points in the story, nobody would like that), you can see what sorts of things may have colored certain scenes! I will also add that this is not even a little bit playtested, so maybe take caution before actually using it in a game lol. Maybe I'll experiment a little and get back to it.

Notes:

Uploading two chapters in one day because I finished this and the sketches today, I have no patience, and I didn't think they fit together in one chapter. See you guys in Chapter 9 of DOBV in two days!

Notes:

Because I needed to create a means of hosting images for AO3, Dream of the Blue Veil now has a tumblr! You can find that pretty much anything art-related in this work has been uploaded there if you want to enjoy your images in a more blog based environment. Or you can just come say hi!
Esher will be happy to see you @blueveildreaming
