Chapter 22
". . . And will you, Yuki, take Lune, to cherish and to love for the rest of your days?" said the blue-furred cat priest, smiling at the whited-furred cat.
The bride, that was once part creation, wore a simple beige colored dress, as she stood in front of the cat priest, next to the beaming mismatched-eyed groom, wearing a black tux.
"Of course I do!" she beamed, looking up at Lune.
The cat priest gave a happy sigh of relief and shut the thick book he was holding abruptly.
"Then it is my greatest honor, to announce you... husband and wife, you may kiss the bride."
Yuki immediately swung her arms around Lune's neck and brought him in for a kiss, causing Lune to slightly stumble to keep Yuki and himself up.
The room was immediately filled with claps and cheers from the many cats who were in attendance in the throne room, including a sobbing Cat King.
Laughing against her furred lips and Lune wrapped his arms around Yuki and began to spin her around, as the crowd continued to cheer.
Haru watched the royal couple, beaming at their happiness as she clapped.
"After all the past gossip and rumors flooding the Kingdom not too long ago, you wouldn't think they'd cheer for them like this."
Haru turned to her left at Momo, who wore a slightly playful pout, staring out at everyone cheering. She then turned to raise an unseen eyebrow at Haru.
"Much less, Lune's dad. . ." she said staring at the bawling Cat King.
Haru shrugged.
"Now that you're pointing it out, yes, it's only been two days since Yuki and Lune reaffirmed their wedding. I'm surprised too that no one is talking about earlier troubles and being negative, but at least that's a good thing." Haru shrugged.
"Speaking of which," Momo said eyeing Haru up in down, "How do you like the new body?"
Haru unconsciously looked down at herself, at her brown furred skin, which was mostly covered by her yellow bridesmaid dress, which Momo wore to match as well. This body which she was slowly getting accustomed to since waking up two days ago.
Haru remembered slowly opening her eyes to see many hopeful stares upon her before their eyes began to light up and some began to flood with tears. Haru then remembered feeling squished as everyone embraced her while many things were being said at once. Mostly there were cries calling her name from Yuki, Lune, and Momo or scoldings from Muta and Toto telling her ‘she better not die again’. She being entirely confused about the situation, asked immediately what was going on. She then remembered all the arms suddenly unwrapping themselves from her, in order for only one pair to pull her close, which she quickly realized were Baron's. She remembered looking up at the emerald eyes that shone with relief, happiness, and slight remorse, as he whispered hoarsely to her;
"Welcome back Haru. . ."
After a long recount of what happened after she threw herself in front of Baron during Kuro's attack, she couldn't help blurting out question after question, statement after statement.
"So, this means I'm not dead, right? . . .Why does Yuki look like her old self and not Louise? . . . What? Look at myself? What do you mea-!! I'm a cat again! Wait. . . I still have my hands and a bit of my body structure. . . I'm not a full cat, so what is this?!"
Two days later she still couldn't believe she was now a creation.
Haru blushed suddenly remembering something and peeked behind Yuki and Lune to see Baron, Muta, and Toto standing on the other side of them. Then her eyes met with Baron's. Haru gave a nervous smile and waved shyly at him, while Baron smiled charmingly and waved back to her.
Haru looked away, her blush deepening at what had occurred last night while everyone was busy getting for the wedding when Baron had taken Haru away to the tower.
"Is this where you wanted to take me?" Haru blushed, her hand in his as he walked her towards the infamous tower area, which was empty due to everyone preparing for the wedding.
"Yes," he said still holding her hand tenderly in his. "It's. . . about time I talked with you properly about everything."
When they finally reached the tower, Baron slowly let go of Haru's hand and looked at her.
"First and foremost Haru, I need to properly apologize to you."
Haru's brown ears flicked at hearing this and she slightly tilted her head at him in curiosity.
"I apologize for the state you're in Haru. You're a creation now and also part cat as well, but this time there is no altering what has been done. You're immortal and can't fit in with your family, friends, and your society because of it. . . Yuki burdened you with this responsibility, while she chose to keep her mortality. I don't even know how you feel about all of this, Ms. Haru. "
Baron's eyes turned earnest.
"How do you feel about this Haru?"
Haru stared at Baron for a few moments and sighed and turned to look out at the view before them of the maze and castle.
"Honestly Baron, I don't really know how I should feel. Yeah, my humanity was ripped away from me without my consent or knowledge. Yeah, I won't get to live in my new home, get a job, get married and have kids, and possibly never speak to my friend Hiromi again. . . I don't even know how to take in the fact I might not see my mom again, without her possibly freaking out at the sight of me. . . I don't know if I'll be able to handle that. . . be able to handle the fact that I'm no longer human and can't be with the family and friends that I loved."
Baron shamefully stared at the ground, as he clutched his cane tightly.
"But. . ." Haru said turning to face Baron again.
"By making me like this, you and everyone else saved my life. I would be dead if Yuki didn't do anything and I'm really grateful for that. By making me one of you, you possibly saved me from a life that I never really wanted anyway."
Baron's unseen eyebrow raised.
"I doubt that is true, Ms. Haru."
"Maybe, maybe not, but you most likely did. If I was my old self again right now, once Lune and Yuki would be wed, I would have to say goodbye to all of you and go to a colorless life that would not be able to compare with this. Baron, once I would return, I would have had to go back to my empty new home, get a boring series of jobs that I would have to do for close to sixty more years, live a daily routine, and then die. It's the fate I always feared would happen to me from the moment I decided to move out of my old home and approach adulthood. Actually, before everything changed with Yuki and you way back, I knew I would have to let go of this all, in order to live my life with humans again. I would need to forget the moments I shared with all of you. From saving Lune from that truck to meeting you, Muta, and Toto, to now. I would need to forget everything, or else I would dwell on this fantasy-like world and not see what is in front of me while I lived my life, I knew it would only cause me pain in the end. . . I'm sorry . . . I basically confessed I would be better off forgetting all of you. . ."
". . . Truth be told Haru, I frankly don't blame you, in this situation. . ."
"But even still. . . I didn't want to forget you all." Haru said looking away from Baron. "I didn't want to lose you all."
Baron's frown was replaced with a sad smile.
"The same goes for all of us Ms. Haru. We don't want to lose you either."
'I don't want to lose you.' Baron thought to himself.
Haru peered toward Baron, giving him a shaky smile.
"You all are the most wonderful friends anyone could ever have, and being here with you all has made me feel more at home than I ever felt even at my old home. Trust me, Baron. I am actually pretty sad that I won't have my old life back, however, I am also grateful for you, Yuki, and everyone for saving me and giving me a chance to stay with you all. . . I'm sorry if I'm giving off a clinging vibe. . ." Haru sweatdropped saying the last part.
Baron chuckled shaking his head.
"It's completely fine Haru, as you know. . ." Baron said walking closer to Haru and raising his hand to put a finger through a lock of her hair as he gazed down at her. ". . . I admire a woman who speaks from the heart."
Haru flushed immediately and abruptly jumped away from him to laugh nervously. Still flushed, she quickly tried to brush off her embarrassment.
"B-But you know! I-I still have no idea w-where I'm going to live! Yuki said earlier I was invited to stay in the castle with her and Lune! B-But I still don't know, b-because living in the castle is for important and useful p-people, right? I would just be intruding-!
Baron grinned at her.
"Well if that's the case Ms. Haru why not come live at the Refuge with Toto, Muta, and me?"
"Eh?" Haru froze.
"You are a creation now, and the Refuge is a place for creations. Besides that fact, before Yuki brought you back, everyone agreed that I would be responsible for you." Baron then froze and chuckled softly. "And of course, Muta and Toto will be too."
Haru blinked at him in wonder.
"Although we had initially agreed that we would be responsible for you, we have no intention of forcing you either. You may live here in the castle with Yuki if you wish to. Due to the fact Yuki even invited you after our agreement, it's obvious she also wants to keep you around."
Haru gulped.
"Also?"
Baron gave Haru an endearing smile and kneeled down before her, taking his top hat off in the process.
"It would honor me greatly Ms. Haru if you joined The Cat Bureau and became an official member and lived with Muta, Toto, and me."
Haru's legs wobbled.
"Wow. . . I feel like this is a proposal. . ." she breathed aloud, causing Baron to laugh.
"Hmm. . . perhaps. . ."
Haru immediately stared at Baron.
Baron then got up.
"Haru. . ." Baron said taking a few steps closer to her. "I realize. . . I haven't given you a proper answer to your confession."
Haru took in his words and instantly recalled the event of her and Baron walking together in the maze, which seemed so long ago, but was merely days ago, and sighed sadly.
"Oh. . . about that, you don't need to-"
"Please Haru, let me explain." he pleaded.
Haru reluctantly remained quiet, waiting dreadfully for what Baron had to say about that event.
". . . After you confessed that you loved me, I was delighted."
Haru's eyes widen, not expecting that reaction, and stared at him in wonder.
"But as you know I didn't tell you that or anything else about how I really felt, I just used the Louise issue and our forms as we were to brush off a proper answer. . . I'm sorry."
Haru directed her gaze to the ground, her eyes wide in awe, as she shook her head.
Baron watched Haru and continued.
"So now I have a confession to make myself Haru. . ." Baron said his face softening into a smile, when Haru looked up at him, not breaking eye contact.
"The truth is Haru I was happy when you told me you loved me, delighted actually. In fact, even before you returned to our lives, you always seemed to appear in my thoughts and every time that happened, I always wished for your company."
Haru's stiff form loosened slightly at that.
'So. . . I wasn't the only one who felt this way. . .' she thought in astonishment.
Baron continued.
"There had been times. . . where I even considered trying to visit you because of that." he lightly chuckled.
". . . But of course, I never did." he sighed.
Haru smiled sadly.
"But often when I felt this way, I was always overcome by guilt. I always thought about Louise, and how what we had ended without our consent. The lovely creation I was once promised to and how I felt for you always intersected. I avoided thinking too hard about it, afraid of what I would conclude. But I already knew why I felt guilty and why I always thought of you constantly after our first adventure and our meeting again only sealed it." Baron hesitantly walked towards a gaping Haru and picked her hand to kiss it.
"I'm in love with you Haru. I have been, for the longest time. . ."
Haru felt weak in the knees, barely knew how she was still standing, and became dizzy.
Baron lowered Haru's hand.
"I'm sorry it took so long for you to get a reply. . . I'm sorry I used Louise and the fact that you were mortal and I'm immortal as an excuse not to tell you the truth, there is no excuse."
"I-It's fine Baron, r-really. . ."
He sighed and let go of her hand.
"Louise and I . . . we are not to be. We once were, but things have changed. We both drifted apart in more ways than one, she forgot everything and fell in love again, while I remembered everything and moved on. It's clear, things will never be the same between Louise- no, Yuki and me. But, that isn't necessarily a bad thing, 'Yuki' is getting married to someone she would be happier with, I can fully move on from the past without regrets, and start over. . . and if possible. . ." Baron leaned in to grab Haru's other hand.
"Could I possibly start over with you. . . Haru?"
Haru breaking out of her swooning immediately nods her head enthusiastically.
"Y-Yes! Of course!" she said then immediately pounced on the startled Baron, causing him and herself to both fall to the ground with a hard thud, holding each other.
"Ooouch. . ." Haru moaned between giggles.
"Indeed," Baron smirked and began laughing, causing the girl in his arms to erupt with laughter as well.
Once their laughter died down, they both sighed deeply.
"It seems The Cat Bureau will be a lot more interesting for now on . . ." Baron smiled. "With you as a member."
"I hope this means I have access to all the Angel Food cake now?" Haru smirked.
Baron returned the smirk.
"Of course. . . just don't tell Muta that."
Haru grinned at Momo. "I'm loving the new me."
Momo rolled her eyes at Haru.
"Yes, yes, good to know things are working out for you."
Haru frowned.
"Don't be like that Momo, I'm sure things will work out just fine for you as well."
"IIIII wouldn't count on that. Frankly. . . I'm surprised I'm even still here." Momo chuckled nervously.
"Don't say that!" Haru scolded.
"Come on! I'm technically a felon! I worked with Kuro secretly to sabotage Lune and Yuki's wedding, which was to affect the entire kingdom and the throne, that’s not good. I’ll be lucky if I get away with spending a lifetime in prison. . ." Momo cringed.
"What would be your worst-case scenario?" Haru asked curiously.
"In my case, I wouldn't be put to death, even if Lune and Yuki weren't my friends. The worst that could happen is being banished from the Cat Kingdom."
"Oh, that's not so bad. At least you wouldn't be put to death."
Momo shook her head.
"It may not seem bad to you, but that would be a nightmare for me. I've never left the Cat Kingdom before. Where would I go? All I know is here. Going anywhere outside this place terrifies me, and it would scare me more if I could never come back. All I have is here, Yuki and Lune are here. . . they're. . . all I have. . . " Momo said her eyes tightly closed with her paws rolled into fists.
"Momo you-" Haru said reaching out for her, only for a voice to echo the room interrupting her words.
"The ceremony has concluded! Time for the banquet!" Natoru announced, The Cat King smirking next to him.
"That’s right, babes! Let's head to the ballroom and feast until we all explode!" The Cat King said loudly speed walking out of the room, causing all the attendants to smile widely and run after him eagerly. Natori followed less enthusiastically with a sweatdrop and trailed behind. Muta was one of the many who eagerly wanted to join the crowd but was held back by Toto, who smirked at him, causing Muta to hiss in outrage.
Lune shook his head fondly, still holding his newly wedded wife in his arms.
"My father sure does know how to empty a room. . . in both good and bad ways. . ."
Yuki giggled, shaking her head as she rolled her eyes playfully.
Lune and Yuki then both looked away from each other and at their friends who were the only ones left in the room.
Baron gave the couple a warm smile.
"Yuki. Lune. We would like to offer you two congratulations."
Toto nodded.
"Yeah, congrats you two, it was an honor to be a part of the wedding."
Haru and Momo smiled and both leaped towards the couple to pull them in a bone-crushing hug.
"Congratulations Lune and Yuki," Haru said hugging them both.
"You both better be freakin happy after all we've been through." Momo teased hugging her friends.
Lune and Yuki returned the group hugs as best as they could.
"Don't worry. We intend to be happy for the rest of our days." Lune smiled.
"Yeah, yeah. Congrats to you guys, let's go eat!" Muta said bluntly.
Baron shot Muta a glare and then turned to bow at Yuki and Lune.
"It's been a pleasure. But I'm afraid we're going to have to go." Baron said with a sad smile.
"But I didn't get to make a glutton of myself yet!" Muta bellowed.
The group that was still hugging released their hug.
"What? Leaving already?" Yuki asked eyes a bit wide.
"Oh no! Please stay a bit longer for the feast!" Lune insisted.
"If the entire Cat Kingdom hasn't finished it by now. . . " Momo murmured under her breath, looking in the direction everyone left, hearing a commotion from the ballroom.
Baron sighed.
"I would love to stay, but we've been gone from the Bureau long enough. We may not get a lot of clients, but we should nevertheless be there just in case someone does come." Baron said firmly.
Toto sighed.
"Baron's right. We should go."
Muta grumbled and crossed his arms pouting.
Haru's eyes sadden.
"So, I guess this is goodbye then?" Haru said looking at Lune, Yuki, and Momo.
Lune shook his head.
"No, not goodbye. You are welcome to come back and visit us anytime."
Yuki nodded.
"Yes, please do!" Yuki said looking at Haru with pleading eyes and then at The Cat Bureau.
Haru looked at Baron for an answer, who smirked.
"We wouldn't dream of this being a forever farewell," Baron said, causing Haru to beam at him and everyone.
Momo sighed.
"Might be a forever farewell for me though."
"What?" Yuki asked taken back.
"You guys I'm a traitor. I conspired against the crown and thus the Kingdom and that can't be ignored. Just because I'm friends with Yuki and Lune doesn't mean I should get any special treatment. In fact, it's probably worse that I did so being your friend, it's betrayal. . . So, what is my sentence then?"
Lune and Yuki looked at Momo puzzled.
"But Momo we couldn't punish you," Yuki said.
"We know that you didn't have evil intentions," Lune added.
Momo firmly shook her head.
"No special treatment. It wouldn't be fair." Momo said sadly.
Haru, Baron, and Toto watched Yuki and Lune look at each other nervously.
Lune sighed.
"She's right. Momo needs to be punished for her crime of assisting Kuro."
"L-Lune. . . " Yuki weakly whispered.
Lune placed a paw on his forehead to consider some ideas before looking up at the nervous Momo.
"Momo I'm sentencing you to ten years behind bars. Since my father is still king so are his laws and you wanted to be treated fairly, thus ten years. . . to life." Lune weakly said.
"Life?!" Yuki and Haru exclaimed looking towards a slightly trembling Momo who weakly smiled.
"I reap what I sow."
Muta tsked.
"Honestly, you're still being too easy on her," Muta said causing everyone to stare abruptly at him.
"Muta. . . butt out. . ." Toto said.
"No, what you sentenced her is still not fair."
Momo blinked at Muta, wondering why Muta wanted her to have a more severe punishment all of a sudden.
Haru harshly grabbed Muta's arm to lower his ear next to her.
"What are you saying?! Why are you suddenly having it in for Momo!"
Muta glared at Haru and pulled his arm away from her.
"All I'm saying is the punishment you gave her was still unjust. Look at me. I'm a criminal of the Cat Kingdom. Eating the whole kingdom's food supply and running off is treason to the Cat Kingdom too, and I got banished. I'm actually surprised The Cat King hasn't had anyone drag me out of here yet." Muta smirked and then turned to look at Momo.
"She committed treason as well, she should be banished from the Cat Kingdom too. 'It's only fair.'" Muta mocked, causing Momo's eyes to widen in horror.
"Muta! Why would you say something like that!" Toto cried.
Haru balled her furred hands in a fist. Just a while ago Momo was telling her, her worst fear was to be banished from the Cat Kingdom, and hoped it wouldn't be the case. Yet here Muta was, trying to make Momo's fear a reality. Was he doing this for his own pleasure?
Haru then hauntingly said, "W-What's up with you? Why are-!"
Before Haru could continue to yell at Muta, Baron gave Haru and Toto both looks and shook his head at them. They looked at him puzzled, why would Baron not be against Muta's harsh opinion?
Lune and Yuki looked in horror at Muta and then at Momo, who looked like she was about to lose her calm demeanor any second.
"B-But . . . I-I can't be banished. . . the Cat Kingdom is my only h-home." Momo struggled out trying to hold back her panicked tears.
"I-I have nowhere to go if I get banished. . ." Momo whispered.
The room fell silent, with the painful fact that Momo was going to have to be banished, in order for her to have no special treatment.
Baron looked at Muta, who only snorted.
"Psst! Of course, you have a place to go. You could stay with us at The Cat Bureau." Muta said crossing his arms.
Momo's trembling faltered to stare at Muta in puzzlement.
"W-What?"
Muta then looked at Baron, who only smirked at him.
"You're just going to have to live in The Cat Bureau. I did it after my banishment." Muta smirked.
Haru, finally processed what was being said, looked at Toto, who looked back at her with shock.
Yuki brightened.
"Yes, Momo! You could go live with them!" Yuki said looking at Lune, who only stared at Momo with concern, still seeing the sadness in her eyes.
". . . Yes, but. . ." Momo weakly looked down at her feet.
"It would never feel like home," Momo said looking at Yuki and Lune.
"Because you two are pretty much the only family I have left. It . . . wouldn't feel like a home without you guys, I'd be lonely without you two."
"Momo. . ." Yuki said.
Haru placed her hands on her hips and glared at Momo.
"Hey! What about us?" Haru asked gesturing to herself and Muta, Baron, and Toto.
"We're your friends, right? The fact that you said living at the Cat Bureau with us would be lonely is rude to us." Haru frowned.
Baron chuckled and wrapped an arm softly around Haru, causing her to flinch and blush at his sudden touch.
"I agree with Haru, that is very insulting to us."
Toto then smirked, catching the two's tone.
"You're saying the four of us wouldn't make you happy, Momo? We have a responsibility to take care of Haru and give her a happy future now. It wouldn't hurt to take responsibility for you too as well." Toto smiled.
Momo stared at the group, her tears of horror, now began to fall from her eyes for an entirely different reason.
Muta rolled his eyes and went up to Momo and almost roughly wiped her tears away with his paw.
"Sorry, but you're stuck with us, Peachy."
Momo then frowned up at Muta.
"Peachy?"
Muta smirked and gave Momo a flick on her nose.
"Your new nickname, Peachy."
Haru, Baron, and Toto watched the two and looked at each other, before grinning at one another and then at Muta.
"Aww, what a softie. . ." Haru smiled at Muta.
A huge blush formed on Muta's face as his hackles began to rise, making Momo giggle a bit.
"A-Anyway! Hurry up and sentence her already so we can all go home!" Muta snapped at a beaming Lune and Yuki.
"Momo, instead of spending your time ten years of life behind bars, you are hereby banished from the Cat Kingdom. You are never to set foot on these lands again." Lune said, smiling at Momo.
Yuki then came up and hugged Momo.
"You may be banished, but that won't stop Lune and me from visiting you and everyone at the Cat Bureau often."
Momo trembled happily and hugged Yuki back.
"T-Thank you," she whispered into Yuki's neck.
Lune then turned to the Cat Bureau.
"As we have left you in charge of Haru, we now leave you in charge of Momo. Please take care of them both." Lune said to Baron, Toto, and Muta.
"We will." the three of them said in unison.
Lune beamed.
"Good. And make sure to keep Momo out of trouble." Lune said turning to wink at Momo, who slightly blushed but rolled her eyes playfully at him.
Yuki giggled and smiled sadly.
"Until we visit you." Yuki smiled at the group.
"You better soon." Toto returned the smile to Yuki and Lune, as he got into position next to the large opened window, followed by Muta, who was gesturing to Momo to follow them.
Momo released Yuki from their embrace and smiled at her and Lune.
"Take care you two." she then smirked. "Don't be too miserable without me!" she laughed, her pluck coming back, as she then ran towards Toto and Muta who were standing by the window.
Lune then shook hands with Baron.
"Take care, my friend."
"You as well." Baron smiled.
Yuki then got up to Baron and gave him a tight hug.
"So long. . . Humbert. . ."
Baron smiled and hugged her back, savoring the last time he would hear her say his name.
"Farewell. . . Louise. . ."
Baron then released Yuki and nodded at Lune again, before heading towards the group by the window. Toto was already hovering outside the window, while Muta hung from Toto’s talons, and Momo sat on Toto's back.
Haru pulled both Yuki and Lune into a hug one last time.
"Visit soon!" she said releasing them as she ran to the window and jumped behind Momo on Toto's back, followed soon by Baron. The new Cat Bureau flew into the sky waving down at Yuki and Lune, who was at the window waving back at them.
"You know. . . even though we were all here together for only a little while. It's already starting to feel lonely without them." Yuki sighed.
Lune chuckled.
"Perhaps it's not them that will feel lonely, but us."
Yuki then kissed Lune's cheek.
"But not too lonely I'm afraid." she smiled.
He smiled back.
"Not too lonely indeed my dear," Lune said gathering Yuki in his arms and kissing his wife on the lips, who melted into the kiss.
"Now let's head to the ballroom and see if we can salvage anything to eat before we head on to our honeymoon." Lune laughed.
Yuki groaned.
"Hopefully they left a few scraps of food for us," she said before they burst into laughter.
Flying right out of the Cat Kingdom's exit, the Cat Bureau stared down at the world below them.
"Good to know we're not falling down this time." Haru giggled.
"Don't remind me Chicky," Muta grumbled below Toto.
Momo stared in awe at everything below.
"So this is the outside world. . . it's even bigger than I thought."
"Get used to it Peachy, it gets bigger than this," Muta said.
Baron smiled.
"And you'll be able to see it up close in person, Ms. Momo. Toto let’s fly in that area."
Haru looked behind her at Baron.
"Where are we going? Isn't the bureau in the other direction?"
"We aren't going to the bureau. We have a case to solve." Baron said.
"What case? Already?" Haru asked.
"Indeed. We're going to have to solve things with your mother, Haru."
Haru's eyes widen.
"My mom? But Baron, I can't face her like this, I'm not myself anymore. She won't recognize me. . ." Haru said softly her eyes saddened.
"Perhaps or perhaps not. But our first case will be to inform your mother of everything that has happened to you. She deserves to know what happened to her daughter. Even if she doesn't recognize you or even be alarmed by us. It'll be up to us to find a way for you and her to be able to see each other again and still be in contact. This is not an option." Baron said firmly.
Haru lost for words, beamed at Baron, and wrapped her arms around him in a crushing hug.
"Oh Baron, thank you! What would I do without you?"
Holding her just as close, Baron moved away to look down at her face.
"I think it's I who should be saying that, Haru," Baron said purring while leaning towards her.
"HEY! ARE YOU TWO LITERALLY FLIRTING IN FRONT OF US LIKE THIS NOW, REALLY?! NO ONE WANTS TO BE AROUND TO HEAR THIS MUSH!" Muta yelled up at them.
Muta then groaned. "Please tell me, things are not going to be like this from now on."
"Hmmm, someone sounds a bit jealous. . ." Toto hummed.
"I AM NOT, YOU BIRDBRAIN!"
Momo hardly believing this comic relief skit being played out right now, laughed.
"Barely in the group for a few minutes and this happens."
"Don't worry, I'm sure stuff like this will be a daily occurrence, especially with Muta around, right?" Haru said looking towards Baron.
"Yes especially with Muta around."
"Ooh, I guess I know who the troublemaker is now, huh?" Momo teased looking down at a blushing Muta.
"W-What is this?! Pick on Muta Day?!" he cried out.
"You seem to forget that ‘Pick on Muta Day’ is an everyday thing," Toto said.
"Shut up birdbrain!" Muta snapped.
"There you go with the birdbrain again, be careful, I might just accidentally drop you," Toto replied.
"Shut up birdbrain!" Muta snapped again.
"Be careful down there Fluff Puff, Toto here is gonna drop you," Momo said as she winked down at Muta.
"F-Fluff Puff?!" Muta exclaimed.
". . . I'm starting to really like you." Toto smirked at Momo, who only laughed.
"Quit bonding over picking on me!" Muta yelled up at Toto and Momo, who both snickered.
Haru smiled at the three and turned to face Baron again.
"Think you're going to like the new Cat Bureau, Baron?" she said wrapping her arms around him again.
Baron grinned and returned the affectionate gesture.
"Without a doubt," he said as they slowly leaned in towards each other and met each other's lips.
Although at the beginning I would have never guessed I would see Louise again after the war or even thought I would love again. I would have never imagined that meeting her again would be caused by me meeting with Ms. Haru. The mysterious young woman who spoke from the heart that entered the Cat Bureau one day seeking help.
Looking back if someone would have told me back then that I would see Louise again, but instead fall in love with that said brunette in the Bureau's courtyard, I would have only stared in disbelief at them. But I'm glad. . . I'm glad things have turned out the way things are. My Baroness may have returned but in the end, I chose to be with another, my Haru.
