Chapter Text
Your first mission with the legends was chaotic, well, chaotic for you, normal for them. But there was no doubt in yours or Behrads minds that you were a great fit with the team. You provided that slight edge that legends had always needed, your clever nature helped Ava and Sara make plans for missions and your fathers interest in nerdy things led you to be a great fighter as well. Not to mention with Ray on the way out, your experience with future technology also came in handy. It was a resounding ‘yes’ from almost everyone involved, almost .
Behrad, who had recently watched his best friend die and come back to life, couldn’t stop imagining you dying. It would be so easy , he thought, they don’t have any powers or way to protect themself aside from some rusty sword moves .
“No,” he blurted out, cutting off what Sara was saying about you moving your things into the spare room onboard. “You can’t, you don’t have any powers or anything, how are you going to protect yourself?” Behrad continued, frustration clear in his voice and his eyes piercing your soul.
“Isn’t that what the team is for? Watching each other's backs?” you countered, crossing your arms over your chest.
“Yeah! We’ll take care of ‘em B, don’t worry!” Nate clapped him on the back, but Behrad still wasn’t convinced.
“What if we’re all occupied? Or- or knocked out or something!” his hands dropped to his sides in exasperation.
“I’ll train them, how about that? And they won’t be allowed in the field until we all feel comfortable enough, okay? How does that sound Behrad?” Sara offered. She briefly looked at you to which you nodded in agreement.
“Fine,” he crossed his arms and left the room.
Sara, Nate, Ava and Ray were all super helpful and accommodating while you were getting settled in the Waverider. But it couldn’t help but bother you that Behrad seemed to be avoiding you. You had missed him, these past couple years when he’d been gone, and you couldn’t stand the thought of him being mad at you any longer, he was just gonna have to suck it up, you were part of the Legends now and he would have to deal with it.
That night, around 10pm, when you knew Behrad would be getting his nightly munchie restock, you sauntered to the kitchen, clad in only your pajamas, but still confident you could get B to change his mind.
“Hey,” you leaned against the counter opposite the fridge, causing Behrad to jump in surprise at the sound of your voice. He had almost forgotten what your nightly meetings had felt like, almost .
“Hey,” he said, turning to you with a tight lipped smile.
“You think you could drive me home?” you batted your eyelashes at him. He shot you a glare, “What? Zari fell asleep on me, again ,” you rolled your eyes dramatically. He knew what you were doing of course, trying to cater to old feelings and break down the wall he had built up.
“Why don’t you ask Maman or Buba?”
“They’re already asleep, you know that,” you rolled your eyes again, “can I at least hang out with you for the night?” you gave him the sweetest look you could muster and swayed back and forth on the spot. Behrad looked at you, and for a moment, you thought he might say no.
“Fine,” he sighed, gesturing to the door with a bag of chips. You grinned happily back at him and started walking towards the lab.
You plopped down onto the couch in the lab, tossing your feet onto the coffee table, “So, what are we playing or watching tonight?”
“I was gonna play Breath of the Wild,” he sighed exaggeratedly.
You raised your hands in surrender, “By all means, play on,” you grinned. You were always happy to watch Behrad play video games, he was always so much better than you and you felt whenever the two of you played together, you brought him down. Behrad booted up the TV in complete silence. You popped open a bag of his favourite chips, offering it to him. Behrad smiled to himself at the thought, before he remembered he was supposed to be mad at you, and he went back to staring blankly at the TV. “Oh, come onnnn man!” you complained. “You can’t be mad at me forever! So what! I joined the Legends, it’s not like I’m gonna be out in the field in any foreseeable future. And annnddd I did this cuz I missed you and I thought it would be fun! But it’s not gonna be fun if you’re mad at me all the time!” you confessed, Behrad looked at you, a shocked expression covering his face.
“You did this for me?”
“Duh dude! You were like, my best friend behind my best friend!”
“Oh,” he looked down at his hands, fiddling with a controller.
“Annnnnnddd, I might, sort of, kind of, like you,” you added.
At the confession Behrad perked up, “Really?” he asked incredulously. It was your turn to look down at your hands. “Because, I might, sort of, kind of, like you too,” he grinned. You glared at him, and he raised his hands, “I swear! That's why I’m being so protective of you! You’re like the best thing to like, ever happen to me, besides the Legends of course, but yeah!” you leaned forward and pressed a searing kiss to his lips.
