Chapter Text
the sun began to dim past the horizon, orange, pink and yellow painting the sky. tim and lucy had watched it set together as everyone wandered around, drinks in hand and dancing to music. they had decided to wait to do their first dance and speeches, just wanting to breathe in the sunset together. they sat on the small hill overlooking the ocean, just a few metres away from the decorated marquee that their guests had sat under. lucy leaned into tim, setting her head on his shoulder.
"i love you," she mumbled, kissing his shoulder and turning back to the ocean. tim smiled and moved his arm around her waist, somehow pulling her closer than she already was. "i love you too."
time passed and the sky grew darker, the couple knew it was time to head back, to share a dance and listen to speeches. everyone cheered as they walked hand in hand onto the dance floor. silas, who volunteered to be the dj, played the requested song and all eyes drew to the couple who stood in the middle of the floor. they swayed to the song, tim's hand on her waist, the other intertwined with lucy's. once again, sniffles and whispers were heard. this was a moment many had been patient for.
their eyes remained locked on each other, drowning in the newlywed feeling.
tim grins. "god, you're so beautiful luce."
lucy giggled softly, "so are you."
tim raised an eyebrow then spun her, similar to that night at nyla harper's wedding reception. they let the song fade out, holding each other, lucy's head rested on his chest, whilst tim's chin rested on her head. this is their home, in each other's arms.
cheers were heard once more and they let the jumpier music play, people crowded the dance floor, some congratulating the couple, some just wanting to dance. pushing past the crowd came a very proud angela lopez, tim's best woman and friend. "finally hitched, huh?" she giggled.
tim huffs, "thanks ange." he deadpanned, both women next to him only knew the joke in his tone.
"i'm proud of you both, this has been a long time coming. congratulations guys." she hugged lucy first, then tim, giving them her maternal smile. "so when's baby bradford?" she raised her eyebrows,
lucy laughed, "soon angela, soon." tim froze, his brain buffering. soon? is she serious or joking?
the two women eyed tim, curious to see him in his frozen state. they glared at each other, breaking out laughing as angela walked away. lucy waved her bye and moved her gaze back to the buffering bradford in front of her. "how about we talk about babies tonight, hm?" tim stuttered, nodding and followed lucy's lead to dance.
for the next 30 minutes, everyone enjoyed themselves as they celebrated the newlyweds. tamara dancing with her found family, grey chatting with nyla, angela dancing with baby jack, oh how it was perfect.
then came dinner and speeches, the best woman beginning.
"the day i realised tim was infatuated with lucy, i knew he was fucked." chuckles erupted through the crowd, "like i mean do not get me wrong, look at that woman, she's stunning and she was his rookie. so it was going to be a bumpy road, and to my knowledge, i was right. it took them way too long to get their heads out of their asses. but i'm proud, i am so damn proud of tim. from the day i met him, to now, he is different. i thank lucy for that. she truly is his sunshine. you," she turned to lucy, "have really lit up his life like no other. and i'm very hopeful that you will continue that forever." lucy mouthed thank you to her. angela sighed. "now i know i said to tim that i would not embarrass him, but what kind of friend and best woman would i be if i didn't?" tim sighed, it was no surprise to him. "tim, i remember that very day you told me you had first kissed lucy, or 'juicy'. you denied each time i asked, until you caved. you were like a kid in a candy store yet you were so blindsided by worry that you didn't recognise how deeply in love lucy was with you, you guys were basically eyeing each other, matter of fact, you still do."
angela paused, letting her hold in her tears. "i may be that annoying best friend of yours, but i am so damn proud of you and i will say that till the day i die. i am glad to be a friend to both of you. so congratulations you two, and good luck." cheers, whistles and laughter echoed between everyone. tim could not help but smile. he was glad to have someone like ange in his life.
next came tamara, lucy feared that she would not hold back like lopez did. she was right. "i am glad i was allowed to give a speech, which i know these two might regret." tim and lucy shook their heads. "lucy, the day you admitted your crush on tim, it was like a wave of relief. i had waited for that day for months. from then on, you were a high school girl, all giggly and excited. every interaction you guys had was a topic you ranted about at dinner or late night tv binging. god, i don't miss those days, all i heard about was tim." lucy looked down in embarrassment as tim raised an eyebrow at her, his curious look said all. "i definitely don't miss walking in on the make out sessions. from that first kiss you guys claimed as practice for undercover, to the night before i moved out, it was bad." tim had now copied lucy, burying his head in embarrassment. "but i knew you two were meant for each other. tim has made lucy the happiest girl in the world and i am so proud and overjoyed that they're married. thank you tim, and thank you lucy. i love you guys." lucy had started bawling, tamara was a daughter figure to her. so thankful for that fateful day she met tamara. people applauded, glasses were raised and cheers were heard. lucy rested her head on tim's shoulder, excited for the rest of the night.
as it grew later and later in the night, people had slowly began leaving, ready to head home and tuck their kids and themselves into bed. once the marquee was practically empty, the newlyweds decided for a second dance, in private, just a core memory to share.
they tiredly swayed under the stars, faint music playing as the fairy lights were the only thing lighting up the place.
"tim.." lucy mumbled. tim replied, "hm?".
"i am so glad i met you." she softly said into his chest, he smiled. "me too."
they stood there for a moment, in each other's arms, their scents mixing and breathing each other's air.
a cheeky grin wiped across tim's face, "now," lucy looked up at him. her eyes twinkling in the lights. "how about a baby bradford?" he picks her up, holding his wife in bridal style. she squeals, laughing as she places her arms around his neck.
