Griffin turned his head and there they were the five boys making their way to him. He was glad that none of them where currently looking at him since they were talking to each other so he want back to eating his sandwich.
”Hey Griffin!” Said Bruce sitting right next to him, Griffin waved at him as the other boys sat in a circle with him.
“I love this tree, it looks like the one I had at my last house.” Said Robin as he took out a container from his backpack.
”The tree that your uncle cut down and you cried for three whole weeks?” Laughed Finney as he grabbed some fries from his tray.
”Yes Finney the very same.” He replied rolling his eyes and opening his container to reveal some food.
”Okay what did everyone bring for lunch.”
Griffin laughed at that, “What are we in elementary school?”
Billy rolled his eyes, “No but I just want to know so you start us off Griffin.”
Griffin rolled his eyes, “A sandwich and a bag of chips.”
Billy nodded, “Okay so I brought some spaghetti my mom made yesterday and” he looked around his backpack, “found it!, a apple.”
Finney just showed the food he got from the cafeteria, “So I got some fries and some nuggets that don’t look well done.”
“Ew, anyways I brought some arros and pollo from last night.” Robin said putting a spoonful of rice into his mouth.
”So I also got cafeteria food.” Said Bruce grabbing one of his fries and dipping it into ketchup.
”I don’t eat.”
“Great! Thank you everyone.”
The six boys ended up eating in silence with Vance on his phone, until Griffin spoke up.
”Why are y’all sitting with me, I thought y’all didn’t talk at school.”
The four boys looked at each other and all their eyes landed on Billy to talk and he sighed knowing this was gonna happen.
”Because you’re our friend.”
There it is the word friend, he’s never had a friend just 4 days ago he had zero friends and now he has five because he ran into someone in the rain.
“I’ve never had friends.” He doesn’t know why he said it but his mouth moved faster than his brain.
The five boys looked at each other before Finney spoke up, “Well now you do, and just so you know friends are gonna be with you all the time.” He said with a smile.
“Yeah you’re stuck with us.” Bruce nudged him with his elbow.
”Since he’s officially part of our group let’s add him to the groupchat.” Said Robin pulling out his phone.
Griffin looked at him confused. And Vance groaned, “That’s not fucking fair you know you guys added me to the groupchat what like three months after we all became friend and he gets two days.”
Bruce rolled his eyes, “Its because he’s way nicer than you and you always said we weren’t friends.”
”Whatever, Griffin you and I have beef now.”
Bruce just smiled and whispered in Griffins ear, “He has beef with everyone don’t mind him.”
“Okay Griffin do you have instagram?”
“Yeah I do.”
“He has a lot of followers.” Said Finney.
”No way really?”
Griffin just pulled out his phone and showed them.
”Bro your art is so cool what?”
”Thanks.”
Griffin ended up following all of the boys both on instagram and on tik tok. And he was added to a groupchat after he gave them his phone number.
Lunch ended and both Griffin and Billy were heading towards the same direction so they walked together.
“How did you guys all become friends?” Asked Griffin wanting to start a conversation.
Billy smiled, “Oh so I became friends with Finney around freshman year when we sat next to each other in English and with Finney came Robin since they’re both a package deal,” Griffon nodded as Billy continued, “And Bruce I met him because of Finney too since they both play baseball, and Vance was because of Robin.”
Griffin nodded once more as he continued to walk towards his classroom through the crowed hallways, “Finney and Robin seem to be close friends huh?”
“Oh for sure, they’ve been friends since middle school, when Finney was forced to be Robins tutor.”
”Damn, wonder how that went for Finney.”
Billy shrugged, “It looked like it worked out great for him.”
They both talked for a minute and then they both arrived to their classroom, first Griffins and Billy’s being right next to his.
”Bye Griff.”
”Griff?”
“A nickname.” Said Billy before walking in to his class.
Now Griffin always knew who each of the boys were but that’s because he mostly knows everyone from the school, after all it’s a small school. But throughout the whole day he’s noticed them WAY to much, he knew he had classes with some of them but now it’s weird knowing they’re friends.
He walked home by himself since Finney had to walk his sister to her friends house so Griffin just walked by himself, or so he thought.
Turns out the three biggest bully’s in the whole school decided to follow him, now Griffin has been beaten up by these three boys, but it’s been a long time since they’ve decided to mess with him so when Griffin looked behind him to find the three boys he hopes it was nothing until he was dragged into a alley by one of the boys. Great.
“Hey Griffin.” Said Matty.
”Hi?”
”So we know it’s been a while since we done this so how about you give us whatever money you have on you and we will be on our way.”
Well even more great, Griffin never had money on him because of this very reason, he always gets beaten up.
”I don’t have money on me.”
Buzz rolled his eyes, “Are you sure short ass? , we saw you hanging out with Bruce Yamada and that kid is crazy rich.”
”I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Griffin thought they boys were gonna ask him more questions or something but no, he felt a fist collide into his stomach and he fell hard on the ground and the other two boys started kicking him.
Griffin yelled in pain as the boys kept kicking him.
”Hey assholes.”
The boys stopped kicking him as Griffin tried to figure out where he knew that voice from, the three boys ran out the alley way so fast Griffin didn’t even realize they left. He was holding on to his stomach as he tried to get up but he started coughing and who ever voice it was came to crouch next to him.
“Griffin, are you okay?”
Griffins vision was blurry but now he knows why the boys left, it was none other than Vance Hopper who helped him.
Griffin couldn’t even find himself talking as he tried to get up, Vance saw what he was doing and decided to help him up.
Now before the boys used to just punch him a few times, take whatever they wanted from him and walk away, but today they straight up beat him up, he’s not sure if his ribs are broken or not but since he’s standing he thinks he’s fine. As fine as someone can be after getting beaten up.
Griffin doesn’t know what’s happening, until he crashed into a couch and finds himself falling asleep.
When he wakes up he realizes he’s not in a couch anymore but instead he’s in a bed, but this isn’t his bed.
The room is dark with all the lights off and a bunch of posters on the wall.
Then Griffin regains his brain and realizes that he’s in Vance Hoppers bed, after all he was the one who helped him and he helped him get up, so he assumes Vance took him to his house, not knowing where else to go.
Vance walks in with a glass of water.
“Are you okay? Do I need to call a hospital.”
“No uh thanks.” He says as he takes the glass water from Vance’s hand.
Vance nods and takes a seat on his chair, “if those dicks ever mess with you again let me know.”
Griffin nods as he finds a poster that interests him. “You’re a horror fan?”
Vance smirks, “Huge horror fan.”
And with that both boys have conversations about horror movies and music, mostly talking about the posters Vance had around his room.
Griffin ended up calling his mom that he was going to stay a bit with Vance since Vance wanted Griffin to watch the remake of Friday the 13th. So that’s what Griffin did. He enjoyed spending lunch time with his friends and spending time with Vance after getting beaten up.
He ended up having to explain everything to his mom, she understood the situation and didn’t go to the school because Griffin demanded that he was going to be fine now.
And he knows his right, even with all the mean looks and mean words Vance can throw at you, he’s a nice guy who cares about the people who care for him.
Griffin in a way finds it sweet, who would of known a tough guy like the greatest Vance Hopper had a soft spot.
Griffin also found out when you talked about something that Vance is interested about, he can go on a huge rant about it, and he’s very defensive over the things he enjoys to do.
