Chapter Text
Gil Young was finishing the last few bites of her late dinner when an unassuming thought sprung into her mind. She looked up from her bowl across the small dining table at Kwon Joo, “Kwon Joo-ah, how about clubbing tonight?”
Kwon Joo put down her spoon, her eyebrows lightly knitted together, “Clubbing? Now?”
Once the idea had lodged itself into her mind, however, she could not seem to shake it off, “Yes, after dinner.”
“Why?”
“Just because. It occurred to me that I’ve never really been to one. For fun, at least,” Gil Young explained, feeling slightly sheepish at that admission.
“You’re off tomorrow, and I have a late shift. In any case, I’m mostly interested in a short jaunt. To see what’s what. Not planning on an all-nighter.”
Kwon Joo’s incipient frown smoothed over and a small smile danced on her lips, “That sounds alright. It has been ages since I have been to one as well.”
“No driving. We will take a taxi there and back,” Kwon Joo added.
Gil Young attempted to protest, “I don’t plan on drinking, it’s fine to drive.”
“You might as well get one cocktail there just for the whole experience,” she teased lightly.
Gil Young had no rebuttal to that, so she simply nodded, if reluctantly.

“Don’t think I have ever seen you around? First time?” The bartender had greeted her with a friendly and welcoming grin. Gil Young sized him up but was abruptly reminded that she was here on the pretext of some fun, not an investigation. “Yes,” she answered neutrally but made no attempt to curb her customary curtness.
“Hope you will enjoy your time here. Let me know if you are ready to order.” The bartender gave her a polite smile before moving away to attend to another customer.
She looked around curiously. There were people milling about but not too large of a crowd given it was a weekday night. Many were in pairs and small groups, most in conversations over drinks, some on the dance floor but she also noticed a few cloistered in dark corners. She averted her eyes from said shadows.
It was less crowded and noisy than she had anticipated, though she still had to adjust to the general low lighting and loud music. Thankfully no cigarette smoke.
She could still recall the stench from the times they had to conduct investigations at bars or clubs before the smoking ban. It was something she had not been inclined to experience during her personal down time. Especially not when she had to breathe in the same at the station too.
Kwon Joo joined her not moments later, signalling to the bartender. She ordered for both of them.
They managed to find a small table at a corner and seated themselves.
“Have you been here before?” Gil Young asked, sipping on her cocktail. It was not as sweet or strong as she had expected, but she still felt the effects of the alcohol immediately. Bubbles fizzed through her blood, making her lightheaded.
Kwon Joo shrugged lightly, “No, I just heard about it from an acquaintance a while back.”
“This is not really my scene either and if you did not mention clubbing, I doubt I will step foot in here by myself.”
Kwon Joo picked up her drink and downed half of it, grinning, “Since we are here, however, might as well make the most of it.”
“Drink up and let’s dance,” she suggested.
Gil Young nearly choked on her cocktail, nerves assailing her, “I don’t know how to dance.”
Kwon Joo giggled, her gaze knowing, “That is what the alcohol is for.”

“I never knew you could dance,” Gil Young murmured in delighted surprise as she ambled next to Kwon Joo on the dance floor. She would be embarrassed if she cared enough.
“This is not really dancing. And there are still many things you don’t know about me.” Kwon Joo said near her right ear, a hand on her elbow, her tone uncharacteristically flirty. She winked at her.
A thrill sparked down Gil Young’s spine, enthralled as she was by this playfully coy side of Kwon Joo she seldom saw. She desperately wanted to kiss her but restrained herself.
The alcohol might have loosened her inhibitions - and she had noticed people doing more than simply kissing around the club - but as brash as she could be, behaviour of an intimate nature in public was anathema to her. She contented herself with small, constant touches.

“That’s not so bad. It was quite fun,” Gil Young remarked as they were ensconced in the backseat of the taxi heading towards their apartment, mood still buoyed and giddy from the lingering alcohol and clumsy physical exertions masquerading as dancing that she had attempted.
Kwon Joo flashed her an affectionate smile.
“Though I won’t care to repeat the experience anytime soon. It’s still more fun and satisfying for me to train at the martial gym,” she admitted.
Kwon Joo laughed softly. “You and me both.”
She reached across the small distance separating them and took Kwon Joo’s hand in hers, squeezing it softly.
“Thank you for indulging me.” Kwon Joo laced their fingers together, her tiny, indulgent smile dazzling.
She kept their hands intertwined for the rest of the ride home.

Gil Young clutched at Kwon Joo’s blouse, the hand at her nape firm as she nipped on the soft skin of her underjaw, “You’re so sexy tonight, Kwon Joo-ah.”
“This was all I could think of the whole evening we’re there,” she whispered as she kissed and nibbled on the column of Kwon Joo’s throat.
Kwon Joo sighed breathily, her arms around her shoulders and back tightening.
Her hands began roaming down Kwon Joo’s sides, eager for a feel of bare skin.
When their lips met again, tongues hungry for the taste of each other, Gil Young knew their night was just starting.
