Chapter Text

Oh Wednesday, how I wish to be with you forever more, let me show you how I can be the one you date from Nevermore, I will seduce you with a hunt of foe and doe, so you can see my devotion to you, my princess of woe.

It had been a week since Wednesday made the impulsive decision to buy the Piano that now sat in her and Enid's shared dorm.

Almost every night Wednesday would play the Piano for Enid, who would sit in silent awe, phone forgotten as she listened to the Ravenette play piece after piece of both haunting and beautiful music. And Wednesday secretly preened at the attention and praise she was getting from Enid, in fact she realised she was craving it more and more. And Enid seemed all too happy to give it out, so she persisted.

Unfortunately, the Stalker, had too persisted. And had stepped up their game in their attempts to woo Wednesday

I tire of this charade, reveal yourself, so I may dispose of you in due course – Wednesday had replied, letting out a huff. She paused as the cheerful humming of her roommate floated into their dorm from their shared bathroom.

She let the sound descend on her like a plague, how delightful, her voice seemingly able to produce beautiful notes of music on their own.

See, Wednesday had a secret of her own, she was suffering with a severe case of the Addams family curse, destined to love one person and one person only for the rest of their days. She had felt all resolve fall away, all resistance became futile, so tired of pretending like she wasn't completely, blindingly in love with Enid. She was tired of lying to herself.

Her humming seemed to gain in volume, if only a tad, it sent her blood careening into overdrive, listening to such soulful sounds, her phone vibrated as a new message was received.

Nah, besides were having too much fun! You're hunting me down whilst I try to show you that I'm the only one for you! And I will prove it!

Enid stepped out of the bathroom, dressed in her uniform, her hair with two small braids that adorned the front of her hairline, Wednesday looked the girl up and down with her eyes, she was positively glowing. Until Enid saw the Raven was in a sourer mood than usual.

“Hey, you okay?” Enid asked softly, stepping towards the black haired girl, Wednesday wordlessly held out the phone to her, Enid took it gingerly between her fingers, and read the texts in a quick manner, Wednesday watched Enid's frown deepen as she scrolled through the texts at a quick pace.

“Wow....” Enid muttered “They sure know how to be dramatic don't they?” as Enid handed her back the inane device.

“Unfortunately they do seem to have such a flair for such a thing”

“C'mon we're going to be late to class” She said, tugging the goth on the arm to lead them out of the room.

Wednesday spared a chance to glare at the room briefly before following the wolf out of their dorm and down the stairs.

Enid gave Wednesday a little wave as they split off, going to their respective classes, Wednesday paused to watch the colourful wolf walk away and out of sight. Wednesday made her way to Practical Pyrokinetics, their Professor, a man in his late forties with burn marks all over his arms.

She sat sown in her seat, alone, the seat beside her was usually occupied by Xavier but the artist had been avoiding her since the she had tied up over a weekend – Good, she didn't need his unwanted presence, vying for her attention and her courtship, she felt herself want to heave.

Only Enid, and Enid alone had her attention and her affections.

Her phone vibrated in her pocket. She sighed and pulled it out, glancing at the lock-screen, the picture on her screen was of the two of them at the Rave'N, the blonde having begged her and Wednesday found herself unable to deny the wolf, her eyes rendering her a simpering fool.

  1. Unread Text Message

She opened it.

;) I think you will enjoy what I devote to you.

Wednesday snapped her face forward, her face betraying none of the irritation she felt.

The Next morning had shown the length the stalker was willing to go to. When Wednesday opened the door to their dorm, on the outside was a carefully lain dead deer, its eyes lifeless, but claw marks evident around the throat of the animal, it was a clean kill, drained of blood. Wednesday was begrudgingly impressed.

Enid shuffled up to her side and let out a small yelp at the Animal, Wednesday glared at her through the side of the eyes, Enid was incredibly squeamish, surely she would react more to a literal dead animal at their door.

“Enid” Wednesday said, the girl snapped towards Wednesday, having her full attention. “What you make of this” She asked, gesturing towards the claw marks. Enid gulped as she leant down. And looked at the jugular.

“Those are wolf claws” Enid muttered.

“So a fur is responsible?” Wednesday said.

Enid gritted her teeth “It appears that way” finding no choice but to agree.

“Hmm” Wednesday let out a hum.

There were currently seventeen fur's at the school. Including Enid. They were all under suspicion and Wednesday reluctantly added Enid to that list, finding it was better to consider all the possibilities, no matter how probable and Enid's behaviour lately was certainly making Wednesday wonder.

Wednesday took the time to question every Fur that morning with Enid close by. Most had been in bed that morning and the ones that weren't had sneaked behind the greenhouses for a cheeky smoke, Wednesday corroborated their excuses with other students that had been there, of course there was always the chance they were lying, one could never be certain.

“What about you, Enid?” Wednesday questioned.

Enid's face was flushed as Wednesday addressed her, the goth neither blinking nor faltering, lesser beings had faltered under such an intense stare.

“Um, I went out for a walk, early this morning” Enid admitted.

“Go on” Wednesday said.

“Well I couldn't sleep, left over energy from the full moon” Enid supplied with a small smile. Wednesday nodded, knowing that the Full Moon had indeed been a few days prior, Enid's energy levels had been all over the place.

“Can anyone testify to that?” Wednesday asked.

“No” Enid replied softly, bowing her head to look at her bright pink shoes.

“And you saw nothing out of the ordinary? Or hear anything?” Wednesday asked incredulously

Enid shook her head “Sorry Wends, I would have mentioned it if I knew” Enid's eyes were pleading, begging for Wednesday to believe her.

“Very well” Wednesday let it drop for now, her suspicions were now raised. Enid's shoulders seemed to relax.

“Come” Wednesday said softy, Enid raced to catch up, planting herself at Wednesday's side.

The Next Morning...

Wednesday could only sigh in exasperation as she opened the door to see a hog-tied and unconscious Xavier at their door. With an apple in his mouth to boot. The only other sounds were of Enid snoring lightly in the far corner of the room.

The text that she had woken up to had been as follows.

I will present any potential rivals to you as an offering for you to do to as you wish!

Hence why the artist was now at their door on the floor.

Wednesday grabbed her phone and started to type out a reply.

Xavier is neither a rival nor a threat. His attempts to court me were futile.

Hitting the send button, she went to place the phone back in her pocket.

There was a flash of light

DING!

Wednesday froze.

Her head turned slowly.

And there on Enid's bedside table.

Lay her pink phone.

The screen having lit up with a notification.

A mere second after Wednesday had sent her reply.

Wednesday stalked up to her roommates side of the room, Enid still peacefully asleep, a small smile on her face in contentedness, Wednesday, with the stealth of a Ninja, reached her hand out and picked up Enid's phone and clicked the on button.

The lock-screen was blank of Notifications.

But Wednesday clearly heard it, She cursed her lack of knowledge on the infernal device. She glanced down at Enid. Her heart soared for her and she wished for a fleeting moment that Enid was the stalker, that Enid was the one trying to woo her because if it were her, Wednesday would already be hers. She was already hers.

But no, Enid was gentle, kind, compassionate, sunshine in human form. She couldn't possibly be suspect, could she?

But then again, Enid's weird behaviours had been suspicious.

She had questioned Yoko if she had seen her by Xavier's art shed. Yoko had said no.

That was lie #1

She had discovered that the snapchat app, revealed one's location when the app was open, that weekend she was interrogating Xavier Enid had sent several cheerful snaps to her, meaning her app had been open, revealing her location, a setting she later learned had to be turned on.

Corroboration #1

And she had known she was with Xavier, her tone was bitter when she had talked her spending time with him, the stalker had referred to the boy as their rival at least twice

Corroboration #2

Her sudden good mood when she learned that Xavier would probably not bother her again

Corroboration #3

When she played music for Enid that first night, she had received the text saying she played beautifully, Enid had been asleep then.... hadn't she? They were in the same room when the text had been sent, there was no way that Enid could sneak a text under her very nose, could she?

The night she had played Moonlight Sonata for her wolf, a melody aptly named for her love, the stalker had said nothing the entire night. Enid was never with her or in direct line of sight when the texts were received.

The reality of what conclusions she was drawing shook her to the core. And she backed away from Enid, leaving the pink device on the night stand/bedside table where it had lain.

Too many coincidences, too many things that either contradicted each other or corroborated a little too much for her liking.

She would have to create a board, like she did with the murders, to organise her information more cleanly and accurately, establish a timeline of events and include any other evidence she could gather, the only thing was, none of what Wednesday had worked out was a smoking gun, she needed tangible proof, something that would be hard to come by.

Enid Sinclair, was suspect number one.

Thinking that did make Wednesday tingle with excitement.

Of course the Universe would punch a hole in her theory mere minutes later.

Enid woke up with a yawn and stretch, revealing a soft and smooth stomach that made Wednesday's insides melt like warm butter.

“S'mornin Wends” Enid muttered, happily, hair completely messy and unruly. She waited for no response as she padded her way to the bathroom and let the door click shut.

About ten seconds later, Wednesday's phone let out her personal notification noise ding, that of a guillotine blade falling. Of course it was the stalker, Wednesday's head shot up to see that Enid's phone was indeed on the night stand where Enid had left it the night before.

She looked at the message.

His attempts to date you were in an insult! You. Are. MINE.

Wednesday then decided to choose a different tact, typing out her reply.

Is that so? Than prove it. - the challenge to the Stalkers ego was obvious. She hit send.

Of course not a second a later, did Enid's phone buzz with another notification

Wednesday simply starred.

What in the hell was going on?
