Chapter Text
Your day at work after announcing your breakup was quite uncomfortable. Everyone seemed to know and would casually ask if you were alright before going to business as normal. Your responses were the same, "I am okay noona, thank you," and, "Don't worry about me, I'm alright really." You couldn't wait to go home and just sleep and even asked your supervisor for the next day off. Whilst you had wanted to keep your mind occupied, you realised you needed to clear your mind alone. Your supervisor probably felt the same and you genuinely smiled when he granted you a whole week off work.
You had your earbuds on, playing your happiest music cause you refused to listen to any sad music whilst you were actually sad. As you rounded your block towards your bus stop, you noticed a large group of people rushing towards you. At first you didn't think much about it and just brushed it off as one of the many protests about one thing or another you've come across. However, you felt your heartbeat quicken and panic set in when you realised these people were coming at you, for you. You removed your earbuds quickly, trying to make sense of the situation. There was a lot of anger, a lot of disappointment, a lot of hatred. "How dare you!" "We allowed you to date him and you do that!" "You broke his heart!" "You deserve to die!"
The first egg hit your shoulder and it was funny how you didn't even register fully what it was. Before you knew it, there was a cloud of white powder all over your head and it was throbbing really hard. Your first instinct was to run, but you soon realised you were completely surrounded and at the mercy of these angry people. You could vaguely register that this was about the breakup as you knelt down trying to beg for mercy but to no rescue. In that moment, all you knew was that you didn't want whatever had hit your head to hit you again and so you crouched down and put your hands above your head in between your knees. You just wanted everything to end, but didn't realise your protective position was actually suffocating you till your world turned black and quiet.
Pain, everywhere. Painful, everything. Too quiet, too white. Your throat felt so parched it hurt but you felt warm hands holding you on both sides and it gave you the strength to slowly open your eyes.
The first person you saw was Jisung. He looked like he was crying and you could see Seungmin holding his other hand whilst Minho was massaging his shoulders gently. It was Seungmin who noticed that you had opened your eyes and called in the doctor to take a look at you. Everything went by quickly. You noticed your dad standing behind your sister and her husband with your niece in their hands. Feeling relieved that they were okay and safe, you broke down and started crying. Jisung was next to you in a flash, wanting to console you but your dad came and shoved him away.
"I think you've confirmed that she is fine, you can leave now Jisung." He seethed.
"Ahjussi, with all respect," Seungmin piped in, "Please stop blaming Jisung for this."
"Then whosd fault is it? Hers?"
You felt your head ache from their exchange. "Yes, dad. It's my fault." You responded instead. "I loved a man I never should have loved." You continued even though you heardd Jisung's distant sobs and it hurt you more than thd physical pain you went through. "I was living in a fairytale, thinking love conquers all things."
"Ena," your dad tried to stop you, "It's not your fault."
You shook your head slowly, "Han Jisung, I'm so sorry to put you through all this."
"No! No!" He harshly refused, "You're not meant to be apologising, baby please."
"Ena-ssi," Minho cut in, "Do you mind telling us what's happening?"
"I need a guarantee that nothing bad is going to happen to my family," you said first.
"What do you mean?" Minho asked.
"Has your family being under threat?" Seungmin added to which you nodded.
"What?" Your sister asked from your side.
You were about to explain yourself but you heard a knock on the door and saw the rest of the Stray Kids members file in together with two policemen.
Once you were reassured that everything was going to be alright, the policeman encouraged you to start. By this time, Jisung was back to your side and your niece was sitting on your lap.
He had been hesitant at first but you reached out your hand to him and he held it delicately. He sat behind you carefully and you felt like all your problems were washing away as you laid your head in the crook of his neck. You could feel his tears in your hair and you couldn't imagine how hard all this was for him.
"A few days after Jisung and I announced our relationship," you began slowly, "I began receiving some threats in my SNS inboxes…"
You went on to give account of everything that had happened, giving the police the evidence they needed too. You had never wanted to break up with Jisung but the amount of hate and threats you were getting had become too much. At first you thought it was just harmless MinSung shippers who were upset about your relationship. However, recently, the threats had extended to your family members and there's only so much you could have done to keep ignoring the threats. A part of you had wanted to talk to Jisung about it, or maybe Chan, but that felt too burdensome. They'd be upset and worried and though they could protect you, within the threats came warnings not to let the boys know otherwise something more drastic would happen and you didn't want to find out what that meant.
"The final straw was when they sent me pictures of my niece at her daycare and my sister at work. They also sent me pictures of my dad at the farm and I knew it had gone beyond just me at this point. I jad to protect them and this was the only way I knew how."
"I'm so sorry baby," Jisung apologised. "You went through so much alone."
"We will give your family some security personnel until the perpetrators are brought in. I highly recommend you all stay together in the meantime." The policeman said and finished up their reports before leaving.
"I think we need to give Jisung and Ena some privacy for now," your sister announced as she took her sleeping daughter from your lap.
"Don't go, what if something happens to you?" You panicked.
"The police are still there outside and we're staying here in the hospital until the security arrives. Don't worry, we will keep together too. "Your sister reassured you but you looked at your dad for confirmation.
"Nothing will happen sweetheart," your dad added. "And don't think too much about us. You've only ever thought about everyone else except you. Practice a bit of selfishness will you?" And you couldn't help but smile at him as he kissed your forehead and everyone shuffled out.
As soon as the door closed, Jisung shifted such that he was now facing you. His cheeks were still moist and you took his face gently into your hands as you started wiping his cheeks.
"You must have cried a lot because of me lately," and you just shook your head as he hiccuped. "It must have hurt a lot, I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry too. I should've said something to you but I was just so scared. I just couldn't." You said back.
"I understand." He replied as he leaned in to peck your lips. "Ena-yah, you can take it all from me and it wouldn't mean anything. Turn the whole world against me as long as you don't leave."
And you drew him in for a kiss. A much needed and hurtfully waited for kiss. The moment your lips connected, you felt complete. You felt a balm heal over your heart.
"I love you Jisung." You whispered after coming up for air.
"I love you baby, so much." And he sealed his words with another kids
It was going to be tough and scary. You still had a lot of worries, a lot of concerns and fears but you knew you were going to face this together and nomatter what, you would be okay.
