Chapter Text

Virgil woke up on the floor.

Gods- he hated mornings, and it certainly didn’t make it better waking up on a barely-carpeted floor.

His back ached.

Blinking the sleep out of his eyes the best he could, (not rubbing them, he didn’t want to ruin his eyeliner) he sat up.

He turned, yawning, towards the other end of the room behind him.

A version of Thomas’s well-worn sofa sat there.

He smiled slightly.

Patton & Logan were laying back against the base of the sofa, Patton’s head on Logan’s shoulder.

It was… adorable- I mean not adorable. At all.

He took a picture of the scene- purely for blackmail purposes.

*click*

Patton stirred

Oh shit- he hadn’t meant to leave the flash on…

“Huh… oh! Virgil! You’re up! Goodmorn…ing?”

Patton looked over at Logan

“Whoops! Don’t want to wake Logan up,” changing his tone to a whisper, “how’d you sleep?” He asked.

“Great.” Virgil grimaced, “woke up on the floor.”

“Oh,” Patton frowned sympathetically, “sorry kiddo.”

“It’s… fine.”

It was hard to stay grumpy when Patton looked at you like that.

“So you and Logan fell asleep after me huh?” Virgil asked, “how was the end of the movie then?”

“Oh…it was ok I guess, there were parts of it that I didn’t.. really like-“

“So you got scared.. and fell asleep on Logan again?” Virgil guessed.

“…maybe..?” Patton admitted

Virgil grinned, “don’t worry Pat, next time you can choose the movie.”

Patton brightened up at that.

“…Oh! Should we wake Logan up?” Virgil asked. “He said he meant to work on a project early today- and it’s already,” Virgil checked the clock, “12:37.”

“Oh, yeah probably!”

“Maybe- you should do it.” Virgil said nervously

“Ok!”

Patton leaned over and gently shook Logan’s shoulder

“Hey, Lo, good morning, sleepyhead!”

“Mhm, in a minute” Logan mumbled.
Then he shot up- “my project!”

Patton laughed nervously, “sorry about that-“

“It’s not your fault-“ Logan smiled slightly,
Then frowned, clearing his throat; “I must get my notes in order, I shall return promptly.”

Logan marched off

Virgil paused, then headed through the entry to the kitchen.

He started a pot of coffee, gods he might need it today-

All the light sides had been having a movie night yesterday, and ended up staying up far later then what was healthy.

It was worth it, but probably want good for Thomas’ mental health-

The other sides seemed fine, then again Virgil was usually the most tired side so that made sense.

Patton walked in behind him, he sighed

“Logan’s been overworking himself again, that’s why I thought the movie night’d be a good idea… but now he’s back at it again..”

“He’s okay Patton,” Virgil sipped his coffee, “this is what he does, y’know? He likes to stay busy.”

Patton sighed softly, but nodded in a sorry of acceptance.

The coffee was much too hot, Virgil was sure he must’ve burned off a couple of his remaining taste buds-

Presently, Logan walked into the kitchen, folder in hand.

He filled a cup of coffee for himself, then sat at his table sorting through the papers in the folder.

“Alright. If you all do not mind, i would like to discuss our schedule for the day.”

He checked his watch, grimacing
“…or whatever we can accomplish in the time remaining today.”

Patton grinned sheepishly

Logan cleared his throat, looking up at the other two,

“Oh, uhm, perhaps we should fetch Roman. He is a rather crucial part of our plans.”

Virgil nodded.

He had been focusing on the other two and had almost forgotten about the prince entirely-

“I’ll get him.” Virgil shrugged.

Come to think of it it was really strange that the Prince wasn’t already down.
Sure- he had been up as late as the others watching the film, but he had fallen asleep down with the others… or Virgil had thought he had… plus Ro was a sound sleeper. Virgil doubted he had woken up and moved to his room.

Whatever.

Virgil climbed the stairs up towards the hall connecting the light sides rooms.

He passed by Logan’s room to the left, then Patton’s, then his own, finally stoping at a bright red door at the end of the hall.

He pounded on the door,
“Hey, princy. We need you downstairs.”

Several seconds passed

“HEY! PRINCY! Are you up??”

Virgil tapped his foot impatiently,

“Ugh… I’m coming in!”

Roman never locked his door.
…plus, even if he did, Virgil could pick locks.

The skill was picked up after one too many nights sleeping in the imagination after Remus locked him out of their room to ‘redecorate’-

He swung the door open, leaning through the door frame.

“Hey sleeping beauty, you feelin’ sociable yet?”

Virgil eyed the prince’s canopy-ed four-poster bed.

“Roman?”

He approached the bed.

Getting closer the lack of a certain fuzzy headed royal became obvious, the bed didn’t show any signs of being slept on at all actually-

Not here either…

Where else would he be?
The imagination?

He groaned, chasing after Roman was definitely not something he had hoped to do today.

He turned, exiting the room and carefully closing the door behind him.

He headed back down the hall, stopping at his own room to grab his headphones; just in case they did search the imagination- that could take hours…

He set them around his neck, heading further down the hall, then back down the stairs to the living room

Logan looked up when he entered, as did Patton, who smiled at him brightly.

“Is Roman coming?” Pat questioned

“He wasn’t in his room. I bet he headed out to the imagination when he woke up.” Virgil shrugged.

Logan sighed,

“I shall tell him the plan when he returns then. We must discuss now, that is the only way if we truly want to get anything done with limited time.”

“Alright, lay it on us Logan.” Virgil sipped his coffee

It had cooled a little, no longer actively murdering his cells.

A shame honestly, the pain worked twice as well to keep him vigilant.

The door burst open

There stood, in all his manic glory, Remus.

“Sup Dorks!” He shrieked cackling like a madman

Logan raised an eyebrow

“Greetings, Remus.”

Virgil mentally facepalmed, of all the sides to come barging in-

“Have you seen my dear brother-? He promised he’d spare with me todaaaaayyy…”

He looked over to Patton

“What’s wrong padre, trying to hide him from me again?”

Patton shifted uncomfortably, eyes on the floor

Logan frowned, “As a matter of fact, we were just searching for him ourselves. We haven’t seen him all day.”

“Ca-LEARLY you didn’t look very well then- I don’t see him here-!”

Virgil scoffed

Remus’s eyes snapped to him, though the rest of him remained frozen facing Patton

“Ohhh, what’s got your panties in a twist-? What? Gonna hiss at me?”

He grinned evilly, reveling in the anger on the emo’s face

“Go away Remus, we don’t need you right now.” Virgil scoffed, faint embarrassment showing in his face.

“Awww, it seems like you guys never need me at all! I’m sooooo boreddd… oh well, gives me an excuse to keep trashing your parties.”

“You mean crashing.” Logan deadpanned

“I said what I said.” Remus brushed him off jovially

“And you’ve said enough.” Virgil glared at him, “go away.”

Remus shrugged

“Eh, I was planning on going anyway- I think I’ll go try to poison Janus again…”

Patton looked up, a horrified expression on his face

Remus looked over at him, “chill out pops, Janus can tooootally handle it!”

Patton looked, If possible, even more horrified than before

“Ta-ta for now, losers.”

With a final manic grin, Remus vanished into a cloud of putrid green smoke.

After they all eventually stopped coughing, Logan straightened up (the best he could xD) adjusting his glasses.

“Well, that was…”

“Unexpected…?” Patton squeaked

“Unwanted.” Virgil huffed.

“So, Roman is missing- should we… y’know- go after him?” Virgil asked

Logan looked back at his notes, sighing, pain evident on his face.

“Yes… we should split up. With a lot of luck we will find him before our schedule is laid to ruin.”

Patton glanced at him, a sorry expression on his face- the emotional side clearly feeling Logan’s deep and overwhelming pain at the loss of his so carefully constructed schedule- truly gone too soon.

“Ok. Virgil; you head towards the castle, Patton and I will go through the north east part of the wood towards the dark side of the imagination. We meet at the crossroads in two hours. Understood?”

“Sir yes sir.” Virgil huffed and Patton giggled.

Virgil hid a pleased smile beneath his hoodie

Patton grabbed Logan by the hand, leading him through the entrance to the imagination, then farther down the eastward path.

Virgil sighed, pulling his headphones over his ears.

Then he headed down the middle path towards Roman’s castle.

Hopefully they did find the prince soon, Virgil only had so many hours of MCR to listen to on the way.
