Slowly, Mizuki’s eyelids opened and they let out a yawn as they got up to prepare for the new day and probably a whole load of cleaning. Oh wait, where’s Ena? And… The mess is all cleaned up…
“What the…” Mizuki looked around their now pristinely cleaned house, all the decorations and mess now gone, all the opened gifts in a corner. Then, it all finally clicked in their head. Ena, you fox… They thought and couldn’t help but smile.
“Morning.” Ena appeared, coming out of the kitchen, a little sweaty.
“Ena, you cleaned everything up, didn’t you?” Mizuki sighed but smiled. Always the stubborn one Ena was. “I could’ve helped, you know?”
“Hey, be more thankful! I didn’t do it for nothing!” Ena blushed but she shouted not with her usual angry tone, this one had… a weird hint of affection and worry to it. “Don’t stress yourself too much… I can help too.”
“Well, I’m not completely useless. Next time ask me to help, okay? Don’t do it all by yourself… You remember the last time.”
Ena paused but then she slowly smiled back. “Fine. But don’t count on it.”
Mizuki giggled. “Come here.”
Ena groaned but she complied, walking to Mizuki. “I might smell a little bit.” Mizuki didn’t care as they wrapped their arms around her, gently stroking her hair.
She stayed silent and blushed. “I love you…”
“Love you too.” They kissed her gently on her cheek.
…Although Mizuki never believed they’d have a birthday party as big as this… This was definitely the best one they’d ever had.
