Chapter Text

Izuku blinked. His eyes adjusted to the light that was hitting his face, streaming in through light green curtains. He rolled over, groaning into his blanket. His body was sore and no part of him wanted to wake up. He buried his face into the blanket and pillow. The blanket was soft and smelled distinctly of grapefruit. It was soft and the futon he was on equally as comfy.

That's not right… Izuku's bed never smells like grapefruit

Izuku quickly sat up, looking around the room he was in with wide eyes. His heart was beating quickly as he took in the new environment.

The room was small and traditional looking. There was a chabudai table pressed up against the wall, acting as a desk, with a small zaisu-style chair tucked neatly into it. An array of shelves filled with books and plants resided nearby. Beside a dresser and all the other pieces of furniture, the room was rather barren. But it was oddly warm.

Izuku's hands instinctively searched around for some sort of weapon, but none were found. He cursed to himself. How the hell did he get taken to some random place and have all his weapons stolen?!

Izuku squeezed his eyes shut, attempting to remember how he got here in the first place. He and the league were fighting against some stupid heroes… Then it got all bright and next thing he knew; Dabi was carrying him down some random alleyway. A small vision of seeing some dark figure with lights hitting behind them like a halo popped up. The person's face was obscured, other than heterochromatic eyes glowing beautifully. Unfortunately, that was the last thing the man remembered.

As much as Izuku wanted to remember what happened, he had to at least escape wherever the hell he was first. He pulled the blanket off of himself and stood up a little too quickly. His left leg throbbed sharply, practically screaming at the sudden weight. Izuku stumbled around the room and grabbed a large, hefty hardcover book to use as a weapon. He crept slowly towards the bedroom's door, holding his breath as he turned the doorknob.

The door opened without any resistance. The hallway was empty; no guards or anything like that. Izuku looked carefully around for any traps but once again, he found nothing.

Nothing at all..?

Either the people keeping him captive are really stupid for not having anything to stop him from getting out or they were really smart and had all their traps placed so carefully that even Izuku, who took notice of every little thing, couldn't see.

Izuku took small, careful steps as he made his way down the hall. Nerves slowly began catching up to Izuku, his throat tightening as walked. God, how long have I been here? Is the rest of the league okay? Are they hurt? What if they got arrested? Where the hell am I supposed to stay if the league is gone? Izuku could feel his heart thumping loudly in his ears.

After what felt like years, Izuku reached the end of the hallway. Light was pouring in from a room , so bright that the young villain had to squint his eyes to see even a little bit. He entered the room cautiously. After all, he wasn't sure what he'd be presented with.

Izuku stepped in slowly, the floorboards creaking under his weight. When his vision cleared up he was met with a simple dining room. A large sliding door was open, bringing in bright rays of the morning sun and a gentle breeze.

On the walls, there were framed flowers and a couple portraits of a couple. The pictures of the couple were interesting; there was a pretty lady with long white hair and gentle gray eyes while the other person had their face cut out. Izuku's lips quirked up into a small visual, a part of him already hating whoever that person was.

"Those are my parents. I told you about them, right kid?"

Izuku flinched at the sudden voice. He whipped his head around to see who was talking. Green eyes met turquoise ones. Dabi was grinning at him. The older man's legs were propped up on the dining table, holding a plate of american-style breakfast up to his chest as he ate.

"Dabi…" Izuku huffed out, calming immediately upon seeing him. He teetered over to the table and slumped into a seat next to the other. A piece of bacon was stolen from Dabi's plate, Izuku munching on it before speaking once again, " Uhm, Where are we..?"

Dabi stopped chewing as he took in the question. He looked at the younger villain with raised eyebrows, " Do you not remember?"

" I don't…" Izuku looked down, sheepishly.

"Hmm… That's no good…" Dabi shoveled a spoonful of scrambled eggs into his mouth. He let one of his arms rest on the green-haired man's shoulder," Well, we're at my brother's house. He patched us up nice and good after yesterday's fight. Honestly, I'm surprised you don't remember because you were ogling my brother like he was the only one in the room. It was gross."

Izuku's head shot up, face red, " What?! O-ogle?! Which brother was it? You have two of them, right? W-was it the nurse one or the one with two different-"

As if every god that ever existed heard him, said brother walked in. Each step that man took was almost like a blessing, Izuku could practically hear harps and trumpets going off as the brother walked closer to the table. Izuku gulped, nervously. He managed to pry his eyes away only to meet Dabi's glare, the unsaid "I told you so" was very noticeable.

The half and half man gently placed a plate of food in front of Izuku, who simply stared dumbly at it. He looked hesitantly up at the man," Is… Is this for me..?"

One of Dabi's hands patted Izuku's back, a look of mischief on his face. "Yes, it's for you, idiot! Hurry up and eat before I steal it all." Izuku nodded enthusiastically. Dabi stared between Izuku and his brother, his grin seemingly growing larger. He took a large bite out of a piece of bacon," So… Shou… Did I ever tell you about Izuku's first mission?"

Izuku groaned, slumping into his chair, running a hand down his face. " Dabi… No! Not that story!" Izuku whined, embarrassment brimming up suddenly.

"Oh yes, that story!" Dabi looked at his brother, who simply stared back. If it was physically possible, Dabi's stupid grin would be stretching off his face. He leaned his elbows on the table, eyes the shape of crescents," So, there we were, Me, Toga, Twice, some of the others, and little Izuku here! He was… 18, I think! And we were up against that stupid Tokyo villain group-"

☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼

Izuku still remembered fondly, it was his first official mission after all! He felt oddly giddy, a small grin on his face as soon as he woke up that day. Kurogiri had made a big breakfast for the whole league, Toga and Twice did his hair that morning and Shigaraki had given him a little set of carving knives. He dressed up in new clothes, a pair of cargo pants, a tee shirt with the word "villain" on it and a simple black hoodie.

They were against another villain organization, who had harmed Mustard and had destroyed the elementary school his younger sister, Fuyumi, worked at. Naturally, the league decided to give them a little heads up to not mess with them (or Dabi's siblings) and would take out the leader of the other villain organization. Izuku would also be the star of the show.

Izuku, Dabi, Toga and a copy of Toga made by Twice were in the boss's office, meanwhile the rest of the league kept the other people from the organization back. Dabi and the copy held down the boss by their arms and legs, their handkerchief that was in their suit jacket just a couple moments now used as a gag in their mouth.

Izuku stood above the boss, a carving knife in hand.

"Come on, kid, get rid of 'em!" Dabi whispered. He was staring into wide, green eyes.

Izuku felt a bit sick, the boss shook their head with tears pouring out their eyes, yells muffled by their handkerchief

"I…I can't…" He whispered back.

Dabi's eyebrows furrowed, " You can. I know you can. Once you do this, you'll really be in the league!" His voice had a hint of amusement in it, which made Izuku's stomach a smidge sicker.

Now, Izuku wasn't inherently upset with what he had to do. He understood why they were doing this. These people working under this person had harmed both his small league family and the actual family linked to one of the members, but there's still a nervousness to actions themself. The knife shook in his hand. Izuku hesitantly looked at the boss. Terrified eyes met his as Izuku took a step closer. Izuku reached his hand out slowly, hovering it over the boss's chest.

A small glint of light suddenly caught his attention. A framed photo of the boss and a woman, the lady's head resting against their shoulder as she smiled. Izuku felt his heart throb for a moment. It was a little embarrassing, but the way the woman looked at the boss was filled with love and admiration.

Izuku looked between the boss and the photo. He reached down to the frame; the least he could do is keep that loved one close to them. His red boots crunched under the messy ground as he took a small step towards the picture.

Suddenly, Izuku slipped forward, a small paper under his shoe making his footing smooth. He slammed his hands down, attempting to grab onto the desk but was only met with warm squishiness . He let out a yelp as the realization that he just stabbed the person and even worse, had managed to drag the knife down their chest as his hands scrambled to grab at the desk. Blood squirted out, red covering his hands and arms. Izuku felt a little helpless, eyes wide as blood spilled from the boss.

Light steps moved closer before small arms wrapped around him. "Oohhhh! You did so good, Izu-chan!" Toga, the non-copy, placed her head on his shoulder. "There's so much blood! So pretty!" She spun the young villain to face her before placing a small candy in his hand. Toga smiled up at him before walking out of the office.

Larger hands rubbed small circles into his back. Dabi smiled, almost gently, down at him," Good job, kid. You got 'em good." Dabi began walking off with the Copy-Toga close behind. The older villain turned to look back at Izuku, " Come on. You deserve a big dinner." His hands motioned for Izuku to follow.

Izuku stood by himself in the office for a moment. He gently bent down, finally able to grab the framed photo. On the boss's bloodied chest, he rested the picture and the small piece of candy Toga gave him before jogging off to catch up with the others.

"And Izuku slipped on some piece of paper! It was funny as hell, he almost looked like he wanted to cry!" Dabi wiped his watering eyes, cackling. He elbowed Izuku, accidentally hitting one of Izuku's bruises. Izuku winced slightly," He likes to think we didn't notice, but we all did! But, at least he managed to kill the guy! I remember trying not to burst out laughing when it happened."

Izuku buried his face in the crook of his elbow, embarrassed. He slumped against the table," Dabi! It was my first kill! Of course I wanted to cry, asshole!" Dabi's snicker seemed to amplify at the retort. Izuku flushed more, looking away for a moment.

Grey and cyan eyes met Izuku's viridian ones. Shouto's expression was the same usual stoic one but his eyes were the shape of crescents, amused. Izuku's cheeks turned more red, though for other reasons this time.

Did Shouto really find his embarrassment funny? Izuku sat up straighter, letting out a faux-offended gasp. " Todoroki-kun! Do you really find this funny?" He pouted slightly, only the slight tremble of his bottom lip showing it was fake as he attempted not to giggle.

Shouto's eyes widened for a moment, surprised to suddenly be called out. A soft huff of laughter came out as he nodded.

Izuku's jaw dropped dramatically, " And you're laughing at me?! How rude! And here I thought I could trust you!" With his good leg, Izuku gently kicked one of Shouto's under the table.

Shouto let out a quiet yelp before staring intensely at Izuku. The young villain found himself gulping nervously under the other's glare. Izuku opened his mouth, about to apologize before he felt something kick his right leg. His eyes widened, meeting Shouto's, which were crinkled in amusement.

Izuku's stomach fluttered, almost feeling like it would burst any second now. He wasn't sure why, but he didn't mind the feeling.

Izuku smiled and kicked back.
