Chapter Text
Ichigo
Despite the boy's strenuous pleas, you did not agree to stay longer at his house. You met at school the next day, but then you didn't feel like listening to his stupid explanations either. That's why you quickly left the school right after class, wanting to avoid the obvious confrontation with your boyfriend. You usually walked back together along side streets. This time you decided to go through the park, which Kurosaki didn't go to very often. You were about halfway , when you heard a loud bang coming from behind you. You reflexively looked behind you, where you saw a huge monster that looked like a spider.
- "What is it?"-you asked yourself. For your own safety, you hesitantly began to back away slowly. The creature must have sensed your fear, because it began to approach you at a considerable distance. Its posture indicated that it was preparing to attack. You were right. The spider threw itself at you wanting to bite you, most likely. You closed your eyes waiting for the pain that was about to come. However, nothing of the sort happened. Confused, you slightly squinted your eyes to see what was happening. The monster fell to the ground and disappeared as if nothing had happened. Nervously, you took a few steps backward until you ran into something hard.
- "Are you okay [Y/N]?" asked the person behind you. Your pupils widened slightly and your breathing quickened. Flustered, you turned around to make sure you were definitely not hallucinating.
- "Ichigo?"-you asked, not believing what you were seeing. Your boyfriend was standing in some kind of strange black outfit, and had a large sword slung across his back.
- "You're not in danger anymore"-he said and drew you into a strong hug, which you really missed.
On the one hand, you were glad to see him. On the other hand, however, you still did not understand what was happening. You felt that what you then found in his room had a strong connection to the monster that attacked you today. But would the boy be so dishonest and unreasonable that he didn't tell you anything?
- "Ichigo"-you moved away from the boy so that you could see his entire face. - "I don't think I know you"-you added in a breaking voice causing the redhead a surge of sadness.
- "You know me [Y/N] and very well. However, there is something I have to hide from you, people in my class and even my family. Only now did I realize that I was doing the wrong thing by not telling you the whole truth. I can't lose you, so I want to correct my mistake".He said and began to tell you one by one the whole intricate story. It lasted quite a long time. You felt that the boy really wanted to shake off all the burden he was burdened with. That's why you refrained from any comment until he finished telling the story. All this was incomprehensible to you. In retrospect, you were not at all surprised that he wanted to keep it all a secret. You felt stupid for don't let him explain, which is why you kissed him on the cheek as an apology.
- "I'm sorry Ichigo. Now I feel a little silly for jumping on you like that for no reason at all...now what? Between us it's like before?"-you suggested.
The boy smiled mischievously then pulled you in for a kiss.
- "If you say so."
Renji
The next few days spent at the academy were like torture for you. You were sick and tired of it all. Studying, mean teachers and Renji were all things you wanted to get away from, at least for a while. However, it wasn't as easy as it might seem. Even though you and Abarai were in different classes, he still always found a way to sneak out of class and come by your classroom. Today was no exception at all. After many long minutes spent training Kido, you were finally able to go out and rest for a while. Tired, you sat down on a small bench next to the door and hid your face in your hands. You sat like this in silence in the empty hallway, when after less than a minute you felt someone take the seat next to you.
- "Tough day isn't it?"- said a familiar voice, and then you felt an arm embrace your figure.
You shuddered at the gesture. You deliberately jerked your right shoulder to shake off his hand.
- "I don't want to talk to you. Give me a break at last"-you said and turned so that you couldn't see his face. The boy was not likely to give up so easily, so he decided to give you an ultimatum.
- "I'll leave you then when you talk to me."
For a while you sat like that in silence. Then you wondered whether to get up and walk away as far as possible. On the one hand, the problem would be solved, but you have been avoiding it for quite a long time. There has been no sincere conversation between the two of you since that moment, and after all, how much can you run away from him. You quietly sighed and then turned your face towards him saying:
- "You have a minute. May you have a good explanation"-you crossed your arms over your chest.
You yourself, however, could not believe that you had agreed to listen to him. So many times you told yourself that such people are not given a second chance, but even though you didn't want to, you were still drawn to him. And that's the only reason you agreed to talk to him. Of course, the boy took your words seriously and without thinking announced:
- "I want to apologize to you for all this. I don't know how many times I've said it's not my fault but it actually is."
You looked at him with abashed eyes. The fact is that he told you many times that it was Kuchiki who kissed him. To you, as a person watching everything from the sidelines, it didn't look like something he didn't want. And that's what you wanted to use as an argument.
- "Even if you're right now, and in fact that kiss didn't come from you, it's unlikely you defended yourself against it. I can even say that you didn't mind," you trew quietly.
The boy leaned his head against the hard wall a moment thinking about the answer.
- "I was shocked. I knew that Rukia had feelings for me, however, I thought that if she knew about our relationship, she wouldn't show it."
You had to admit that his defense sounded reasonable. But was it all true? Even if you let him off the hook now, what would happen to the two of you next? This was the question you feared the most. However, you decided to give him a break, because deep down you felt that he was really sincere with you.
- "Okay, apology accepted," you said, and then got up from the hard bench.
However, your conversation did not end there. The boy quickly grabbed your hand and looked at you sadly.
- "So what's going to happen to us now?"
You sighed expecting this question to be asked in your conversation today. You felt silly to walk away like this without an answer , but did you want to give him any hope? Despite strong resistance, yes , you wanted to.
- "Maybe we can still fix what was between us. I'm sorry, but I have to go to class,"-you said and walked away into the depths of the corridor.
Aizen
As you might have expected, today once again your boyfriend stayed at the office late into the night. It was four in the morning , and he still wasn't home. Day by day, you were losing more and more hope that he would still come back. Your efforts to somehow repair your relationship burst like a soap bubble. That's why you decided to dress in your standard shinigami attire and head to your beloved's quarters. You took the overdue report in one hand and the meal you had handmade for him in the other. The road took you only a few minutes, and being near your unit's building, you saw that the light was on in the captain's office. This didn't particularly surprise you. You had already found such a sight many times when you went to visit him. You decided not to add to the trouble and instead of going up the stairs, you jumped onto the railing, where there was a door opposite. You knocked a few times and entered the room.
- "Good evening captain. Wait, maybe I should rather say good morning." - you said in annoyance as you saw Sosuke sorting through the documents.
Hearing you, he immediately welcomed you with his relieving smile.
- "Hello [Y/N], what are you doing here so early?"-he asked causing you another uncontrollable surge of anger. You didn't give him the satisfaction and decided to continue keeping your nerves in check.
- "What am I doing here? You better talk about what you're doing here."
Aizen lifted the papers up so you could see them better.
- "I'm finishing the job that was left to me by Captain Hirako. As a new commander, I had to do it, so I stayed up for a few nights to get it over with ."
You sighed sadly and then placed the food and report on his desk.
- "Keep it so that later you don't spread around the division that I'm starving you,‖ you said and headed for the room's exit.
Just as you grabbed the handle with the intention of leaving, out of nowhere your boyfriend appeared in front of you and held the door so that you couldn't leave.
- "Why are you sad [Y/N]?"
You looked at him with soft tear in your eye. You felt that you didn't need to tell him anything. He already knew everything anyway.Instead, you hid your face in his haori crying out everything that lay in your heart.
- "Don't cry [Y/N], things will change now.".-he said stroking your [H/C] hair.
You looked at him with hope then asked:
- "Do you promise?"
The man smiled and in a soothing voice answered:
- "I promise."
Byakuya
That same day in the evening you sat alone in your quarters. Further insulted and offended by your guy, you buried yourself under a blanket not knowing what to do next. For a good hour you sat in total darkness dully staring at the ceiling and reflecting on your messed up life. Unfortunately, you were also adding fuel to the fire yourself, because right next to your bed was a cabinet with a framed photo in which you must have been obviously immortalized with him. Several times you even threw it to the other end of the room, but as a result you picked it up and put it back in its place anyway. After many long minutes of catcalling yourself with your shared photograph, you heard a quiet knock on the door, followed by the sound of the handle being turned. You could confidently guess who it was. The door slowly swung open revealing the silhouette of your beloved. The man didn't even bother to ask you if he could do it. He simply walked in and sat on the edge of your bed.
- "You've been sitting here all day. I've been worried about you"-he said, taking the broken photo frame in his hand.
You rolled your eyes more carefully covering yourself with a blanket.
- "That's nice of you. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm anxious to sleep, so I'd appreciate it if you'd leave"-you muttered, turning your back to him.
The man looked at you with his standard gaze , then grabbed strands of your [H/C] hair in his fingers asking:
- "Are you still angry with me over this situation this morning?".
You had to admit that your guy was an unusually default person. It takes a captain to figure out that this was obviously about your morning argument. However, you didn't feel like talking about it so you didn't answer him. He, as if out of spite, continued to drag the topic by talking:
- "There's one thing I didn't tell you about. Before I met you I was in a relationship with that girl you saw in the picture. Her name was Hisana and she died a few years ago."
Unmoved by the short story, you snorted arrogantly under your breath :
- "Why are you telling me this? Do you think I'll feel sorry for you? I'm not that kind of person if that's what you mean."
Byakuya sighed quietly while continuing to play with your hair.
- "I'm not looking for comfort in this matter. I'm more concerned with making you understand that a lot of time has passed since that moment. All that matters now is you and nothing will change that."
Slightly touched by his words, you turned so that your head was lying on his thigh.
- "Are you serious?"-you asked to be sure.
The man with a small smile nodded his head and then kissed you.
- "Seriously.
Ukitake
Annoyed by an argument with your guy, you sat down on a chair behind your desk. You felt that no one understood you and didn't want to understand you. You only worry about the most important person in your life, and what do you get out of it? One big nothing. You couldn't count on your fingers how many times you sat next to your captain's bed praying that his condition would get better. And now you see that your loved one is playing with fire and doesn't care. I don't think he even cares that by acting in this way he is hurting not only himself, but also you. It hurt you a lot , but who would care about your opinion? You were just a poor member of the thirteenth division. You thought about it for a long time, and sometimes wondered if moving from the fourth team was a mistake. These were the thoughts going through your mind when Ukitake quietly entered the room. He suddenly stepped around you from behind and then put his hands on your shoulders saying:
- "I'm sorry. I didn't want you to get upset."
You rolled your eyes as you heard the same sentence for the hundredth time.
- "Spare yourself Jushiro"-you frowned leaning against the back of the chair.
The man gently smiled under his breath and after a moment squatted down next to the offended you.
- "Understand, just because I'm sick doesn't relieve me of the duties that are imposed on me as captain. Besides, I prefer to do something and not sit on leave forever."
You looked at him sullenly.
- "Yeah, and what if by your eternal risking you die? What will then happen to Soul Society, the troop, me? Have you thought about that for a moment?"
The man tangled his fingers in your hair , then pulled you into a hug.
- "Then you will be the one to take command here. I does not accept refusal."-he joked, and you, slightly surprised, punched him in the stomach.
- "Don't even scare me"-you replied, and seeing the joy on his face a gentle smile instantly dawned on your lips.
A little lifted in spirits you cuddled tighter into his torso.
- "Promise me you'll look out for yourself. I'm not ready to take over your responsibilities yet."
- "I don't know if I will be able to carry out this command, but I promise, future captain."
Hisagi
You couldn't believe what had happened. Your captain, the person you admired most in the world, left you like that. You will remember these days as the worst time of your entire life. Not only did Aizen betray you, Hinamori was injured and you had a fight with Hisagi. Now you had no one to complain to. You were left alone like a finger. Even meetings with other lieutenants no longer helped. You were sick of the anguish. You just wanted to live in peace without worrying about the next day. And now? All the tasks rested on you. The fifth division lost two of its most important people and overnight you became the key player here. You had to work hard to catch up with all your superiors. That's why you sat in the office most of the time. Today your routine looked the same. From the morning you took care of reports and the like, and in the afternoon you took a well-deserved break. While you were eating your meal , in the meantime reading the first better book pulled from the shelf, a quiet knock on the door came to your ears. To your surprise Hisagi stood in the doorway.
- "Good morning, I've brought the report you asked me for," he said, putting the pages down on the desk.
Surprised, you raised one eyebrow.
- "If my memory doesn't deceive me, I asked Umesada and not you"-you said in a pinch, although after a moment you mentally high-fived your forehead cursing yourself in thought for your stupidity.
- "I am a lieutenant, or rather an alternate captain. Now I have to perform most of the duties. For the rest, you know this very well too...but I can see that I'm not welcome here, so I'll go now"-he said, and you stood up and grabbed his uniform.
- "Don't go"-you said squeezing his clothes tightly. - "Only you don't leave me now"-you added hiding your face in your hands.
The boy looked at you and then sat down on the desk.
- "Don't worry [Y/N], it will be fine"-he comforted you.
You couldn't count how many times you had already heard those worthless words. How many people have already tried to lift your spirits with them? None of them succeeded, and they hit you even harder.
- "Nothing is going to be okay. This is the worst nightmare that could ever happen to me. I was left alone with all this . I certainly can't handle it." - You clenched your fists angrily, and the boy wiped away the tear running down your cheek and wrapped his strong arms around you. Only now did you realize , how close you came to losing him. Although you told him a few harsh words he did not give up on you and continued to do his job.
- "Don't cry anymore. I will help you, you are my girlfriend and I will not let you suffer."
Hirako
You were extremely remorseful. You were angry with yourself over the argument with Hirako. After all, he was only concerned about you, and you were self-absorbedly dismissing his concern with senseless arguments. From that moment on, you didn't speak a word to each other. You felt that things were beginning to break down between the two of you, but neither of you wanted to give way to the other and only waited for one of you to break through first. Of course, it had to be you, because he was able to ignore you literally all the time, and you were already starting to get annoyed. Therefore, when the boy happened to pass by your room, you quickly pulled him into the room and seated him on a chair standing in the middle.
- "We need to have a serious talk Hirako"-you announced crossing your arms over your chest.
The boy didn't answer anything, but at the same time he was interested in what you had to say to him.
- "You won , good? You were absolutely right. I'm not ready to go back to any tasks yet. I was foolish to think so, and you were right as always. Do you fit such an apology?"- you asked, hoping that you would finally be able to talk to him normally.
The satisfied boy bared his white teeth and then began to tease you:
- "I knew you would be the first to apologize to me. And what, was it worth arguing with me? Ehh [Y/N], you will never learn that older and wiser people should be listened to.
You thought your vein was about to burst. You clenched your fists in annoyance and barely held back to slap his face.
- "You know what, now I regret that I apologized to you at all. I might not have spoken to you and there would have been peace of mind."
The boy laughed under his breath and then stood up and patted you on the head.
- "Okay okay, calm down. After all, I'm joking. Don't get so upset."
Satisfied with the course of your conversation, you hugged his shoulder and then asked:
- "So what, truce?"
Without thinking, the boy nodded affirmatively and said:
- "I don't mind, but I'll give you some advice [Y/N], listen to me and you won't die."
You rolled your eyes in annoyance and muttered under your breath:
- "Idiot."
Shunsui
You didn't know what to think about all this. Were you so naive to believe that Shunsui really loved you? In fact, you might have expected that. After all, of all the captains in the Soul Society, he is the one with the reputation of being the biggest womanizer. That's why you yourself were surprised that you let yourself be carried away by his charms and didn't notice that he was just toying with you. You resented yourself for this, so you decided to forget about him and the relationship you had been building over the past months at all costs. This task was extremely difficult for you. Since you belonged to his ward, you had to see and talk to him every day. As you decided for yourself, the conversations were only about matters related to your division and nothing else. At the end of one such meeting, when you and a few others were about to leave his office, he stopped you by saying:
-[Y/N], I would like you to stay a while longer."
Without objection, you sat back in your chair and waited patiently for the others to leave the room. When you were completely alone, the man leaned back in his chair.
- "How much longer are you going to ignore me? This is getting slowly boring"-he complained and you raised one eyebrow.
- "Really? Have you already forgotten how you treated me?"
The captain leaned his head against his hand trying to remember what situation you had in mind. However, nothing came to his mind.
- "You can tell what you mean, because I don't understand too much."
Dismayed, you high-fived your forehead.
- "About you cheating on me with Nanao"-you guided him, and after a moment's thought he experienced a dazzle.
- "That's the point. Well [Y/N]-chan, I have to worry you but I have never cheated on you in my life and I would never do it. And certainly not with Nanao"-he said smiling, which made you angry once again.
Abashed, you stood up abruptly from your chair.
- "Don't try to pull the wool over my eyes Shunsui"-you wagged your finger at him as a warning.
- "I'm not doing anything like that. I just think you shouldn't jump to conclusions if you don't know the whole truth"-he argued, and you shook your eyes in amazement.
- "The whole truth? What do you mean?"
The captain of the Eighth Division nodded his head in pity.
- "Nanao is my family. In other words, my brother's daughter. So much for the subject"-he explained.
For a brief moment you froze in place processing his words in your head. You didn't know if it was a good move to take his word for it. According to you, they didn't resemble each other one bit. You had no way to find evidence to confirm his words either. But a voice in your head told you that he was telling the truth. Calmer, you sat down on a chair.
- "Really?"-you asked for certainty, and the man corrected his straw hat.
- "Yes. Did you seriously think I wasn't honest with you? [Y/N]-chan, have more faith in your guy"-he snorted with laughter , and the corners of your mouth went up.
- "You're right. Forgive captain."
