Chapter Text
He’s not much into romance, more of a slasher horror guy. Sure everyone likes to give him shit for how much Courtney has him wrapped around her finger while they were dating, but Duncan is not one of those love sick suckers.
Or so he thought.
Seeing her up on the balcony, in full costume as a princess. His nickname for her that started off as a diss, then turned into an affectionate endearment.
He feels as if he’s transported into the Romeo and Juliet movie he definitely wasn’t paying attention to…
Mirroring Romeo’s expression as he sees his Juliet make her grand entrance. Their eyes meet, she smiles and he’s a goner.
His heart thumps rapidly, he’s always known Courtney’s beautiful. It’s why he was drawn to her in the first place, but seeing her like this?
His princess, straight out of the movie screen. He knows he’ll never be the same again. Now if only he can win back her hand.
She’s not much into romance, not even really into movies in general. Sure everyone likes to think she would be into the genre, since she’s a girl, but Courtney isn’t fond of making herself a love sick fool.
Unless of course… the recipient of her affections is Duncan.
Seeing him now still sends her heart soaring, until she reminds herself she isn’t the star of a romance movie. At least not one that ends happily.
She feels as if she’s transported into the Romeo and Juliet movie. The very one she used to make fun of, even when she and Duncan somehow stumbled upon it on the T.V one day. Back when they were still together…
She wasn’t really paying the movie any attention, knowing Duncan he probably could care less. Though she swears his eyes lingered on the screen for a moment, it was the scene where they first meet at the ball.
She remembers the look on his face when she was his world, it looked exactly like the way Romeo gazed at his Juliet. Too bad their life isn’t like the movies.
Or maybe it is. Except instead of their tragic love affair ending in double suicide, it just ends. In a cheating scandal, no less.
Romeo would never, or maybe he would. He did move on from Rosaline awfully quick…
Point is, what did she expect? She signed up for a reality show, not a fairytale.
“Baby, our love ain’t like the movies.”
She remembers agreeing with him back then, how wrong were they?
It’s just like the movies. Following the path of star crossed lovers can only end in tragedy.
He didn’t even call her princess when he broke her heart. He called her Courtney. That’s how real it was.
