Chapter Text
Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin were inseparable.
Even though they may have had their differences, that didn’t change how much they cared about each other, and they had been spending all their time together since they were around 20.
Or since Rin was around 20, that is.
You see, Miku was a vampire, not a killer or anything. Miku was a good person. The best person.
Rin’s favourite person.
Rin never gave a shit about the fact that Miku wasn’t human. She never saw the need to bring it up. She could see how conscious she was about it.
Rin thought she was beautiful all the same.
Miku was the most cheerful, upbeat, gorgeous person that Rin had ever met.
She was so beautiful, even if she was a vampire, and Rin promptly fell in love with her, and she hated herself for it.
Vampires and humans aren’t supposed to fall in love. Rin was breaking every rule in the book by feeling the way that she felt.
Not to mention, time.
Over the years, while Rin had begun to grow old and grey, Miku never changed.
Miku had the exact same youthful face, youthful stature from the day they met, while Rin was growing more self-conscious of the fact that she was not the same.
Time had stolen her beauty, leaving Rin with nothing.
And so, she was too scared of being out of line, being rejected, and never told her.
Never told her that the time they spent together was always her favourite. Never told her that she had kept everything Miku had ever given her, from expensive jewellery to a jar of dirt. Never told her she still reads her birthday cards. Never told her that she is the one constant throughout the entirety of Rin’s embarrassing diary.
Because Miku would continue to exist long after Rin’s passing, where she would meet other people and eventually forget all about the girl she used to cheer up in a thunderstorm. Forget all about the girl who used to make dumb food puns whenever she was hungry. Forget all about the girl who cried so hard after watching The Great Gatsby that she threw up on the carpet.
Miku might forget, but Rin didn’t think she ever could.
Rin wanted to keep on loving Miku with all her heart, on and on, until they were forced to be separate. Until the day when she was made to part with the Earth, and the person she cared so much about, Rin would never stop.
And even when that day came, she never did.
