Chapter Text
As per usual, Trait wakes up first. Not usual though is the fact that Stoney and him are tangled up together in Stoney’s bed. Typically Trait would freak out, but he’s trying to cherish this. He’s trying to be as quiet as possible as not to disturb Stoney, although he still opts to put his paw on the longer fur at the nape of Stoney’s neck. Gently running his paw through Stoney’s fur, Trait feels him stir ever so slightly. Rather than moving or getting up though, Stoney nestles his face into Trait’s neck and huffs with a smile. Trait, still not stopping running his paws through Stoney’s fur, has opted to sit up slightly more in bed so he can take in Stoney’s full sleepy glory. Stoney has moved his head from Trait’s neck to his shoulder, so he is still getting some form of support.
“Stoney…” Trait says with a small smile. Stoney grumbles a little bit before opening his eyes properly for the first time in the morning and glancing up at his friend.
“Trait…” Stoney says while trying to get used to the change of brightness in the room surrounding him.
“I… I really need to piss. Can you please sit up? I’ll be right back!” Trait says before quickly excusing himself to the restroom to take care of his quick morning routine. Stoney in the meantime has fully sat up and is laying back against the wall, checking his phone for the morning. Nothing new. Another small bitcoin crash. Stuff that can wait til later because Stoney knows he needs to live in the present right now.
Once Trait reemerges from the bathroom, he plops himself right back on Stoney’s bed as if he wasn’t hesitant to do so the night prior. They both glance at each other in the eyes completely unobstructed once more, no mask and no shades to block out anything. Very quickly do they begin to blush and turn away before trying to sneak a look at the other like bashful teenagers and getting more flustered.
Trait is the one to initiate the conversation again, “Um. Sorry… for all this I guess. It was stupid of me to invade your personal space… albeit a little cozy… but that’s beside the point. I’ll get out of your hair… fur… now… um.. Yeah… sorry.” Stoney grabs for Trait's hand immediately. “Oh,” is all Trait is able to muster up. A silly full smile passes his face. Stoney catches this, and as silent as he has been, wraps his arms around Trait, causing him to be leaned back onto the bed and Stoney laying on top, absorbing all of Trait’s body heat. Trait is very quick to reciprocate this action, hugging him right back and pushing his head onto Stoney’s shoulder. He goes back to what he was doing earlier and runs a hand through his longer fur on his head.
“Trait… I’m sorry if this is too straight forward,” Stoney says while trying to avoid eye contact again as Trait looks up from his spot on his shoulder blade. “Can I, um, can I kiss you?” Barely after Stoney says this, their faces are bashed together quite uncomfortably and sloppily, but passionate and caring nonetheless. It was just a kiss. There was no heat. There was no hunger. There was just love. There was just passion. There was just care.
There was just a moment where it was only the two of them that mattered.
