Peter paced in front of Doctor Tobias. He was wringing his hands. He was ranting.
“Now she’s a hero? New evidence proves her innocence? Why can’t they see what a monster she is? She’s not even human anymore!”
Doctor Tobias’s eight eyes followed Peter as he ranted through his impotent rage.
“First it was Gwen, she was like my sister. Now even J. Jonah Jameson is singing her praises. Its like she’s infected them.”
Doctor Tobias finally spoke when Peter paused in his tirade.
“I told you the cost of my assistance Peter. Call it a test to see if you have the courage and fortitude to survive the transformation.”
Peter paused and stared at the man-spider.
“You swear you can make me strong enough to stop this madness?”
“Yes, of course, Peter. You can crush Spider-Bitch, then show the people what a real hero looks like.”
Peter’s face hardened and he nodded.
“I’ll do it.”
Doctor Tobias’s mandibles clicked in anticipation.
“Excellent. Let’s start small. I have several emergency caches hidden around the city… With all the chaos in the streets any missing persons might just be considered casualties of the invasion.”
