The Angelic Warriors
Rise of the New Warriors
After some time, Jacob awoke with a start, worried about Amy.
“A-Amy? Are you ok?”
“She’ll be alright, she’s just worn out.”
Looking over, Jacob saw a young girl treating a wounded Amy after her encounter with the Angel raiding party.
“W-Who are you?” Jacob was a bit surprised at the girl’s nonchalant attitude about Amy’s injuries, and was a bit worried that she may be trying to hurt her.
“I’m Sydney, Amy’s maid and one of her best friends, she teleported you both here and collapsed from exhaustion.”
Jacob relaxed a bit after hearing this.
“I see…the King hired you on as a maid?”
“Yes, his majesty was very kind to me, I was living on the streets before he found me and took me in as a maid. My family and I…we disagreed on a lot, they especially despised how friendly I was towards everyone. One thing led to another, and I ended up leaving them, even the streets were better than that nightmare.”
Suddenly, the King entered the room, startling Sydney so badly that she nearly dropped her tray of medical supplies as she was turning to leave.
“Y-Your majesty!” Sydney squeaked out.
“Sydney, is this the young boy my daughter came in with?” he asked bluntly.
“Y-Yes Sire.”
“Leave us please. I wish to speak with him privately…”
Sydney bowed and quickly scampered out. Jacob paled, worried about what was going to happen to him.
“So, you’re the boy my daughter was with?”
“Y-Yes.”
“Tell me, did she get herself into trouble?”
Jacob wanted to tell him no, but he felt something compelling him to tell the truth.
“Y-Yes…We got caught up in the Angel Attack, she saved me from getting hurt and killed their leader.”
“Sigh…Why am I not surprised my daughter would do something like that?” he said.
"S-Sire?"
"As you probably learned, my daughter is one to act rashly and not think things through."
“I suppose I can agree with that.” Jacob had only known Amy for a short while, and honestly didn’t know what to think of her, though it seem she was both reckless yet considerate.
“I sense you’re troubled, is there something I should know?”
Jacob internally panicked at this. He was terrified of what may happen, but again, something seemed to be pushing him to tell the truth.
“W-Well…I’m not a demon by birth, I’m a fallen angel…”
“Well even I can tell that. I suppose I have a secret to spill as well.”
Jacob wasn’t expecting that. What could the king possibly want to tell him, they had only just met for peats sake!
“Sire?”
“My Daughter isn’t my daughter by birth.”
“She’s adopted?” Jacob asked him.
“No, I kidnapped her when she was four years old. I corrupted her and pretended she was my daughter. You’re the first person other than Sydney and the doctor who examined her that I’ve told.”
Jacob wasn’t expecting that for sure. If you didn’t know better, you’d never be able to tell the difference without seeing her wings, at least that was his best guess.
“W-Why me? Why tell someone you literally just met, you could be making a big mistake in telling me this!”
“Because, my daughter cares for people, but I’ve never seen her care for someone as deeply as yourself. She cares for her friends deeply, but you on the other hand, she was so determined to protect you despite her wounds I had to promise her you wouldn’t be harmed to get her to rest so Sydney could treat her. I’ve never seen anything like it from her.”
Jacob was astonished. They had only known each other for a few hours and yet she was that protective of him?
“W-Wow…She cares for me that much?”
“Yes. Take good care of my daughter boy, she deserves someone she can trust.” With that, the King left Jacob to his thoughts. He was still blown away by all that had happened to him today, but perhaps he could adjust to this new environment faster than he thought. However, unbeknownst to anyone, at that moment in the Angel Kingdom, trouble was brewing.
Angel Kingdom, Project ‘Shadow’ HQ
“Well Gentlemen, are you satisfied with the project?” An angel was presenting a project to a group of scientists, commissioned by the royal family to create an anti-demon weapon that would allow them to easily win against the demons. Though, to be fair, they probably didn’t have this in mind.
“I admit she’s a powerful one, but can we trust her?”
“Indeed. We have no way of knowing what these modifications you made to her will do, and if the royals learn what we’ve been doing with the funding they’ve given us…we’ll all be done for.”
Several of the other scientists voiced their complaints as well, though some quietly slipped out of the room, knowing what was coming.
“I see. Well, now that we’ve completed the project, you’re no longer needed.”
“Wait, what are you doing Matthew!?” The scientists panicked, desperately trying to get out of the room, only to find the door was now locked.
“Shadow, kill them.”
“Yes Master.”
Shadow began to brutally dismember and slaughter the scientists, with some suffering even more gruesome fates.
As the screams of the scientists began to fade, the director smiled to himself. Soon the demons would tremble beneath them...
Chapter 3: ‘Shadow’ and Schools
A day or so after the massacre at the lab, Amy was finally recovered enough to wake up. Opening her eyes, she saw Sydney entering the room.
“Oh! Amy! I’m glad you’re ok!” Sydney said, running over to the bed.
“Sydney…Ugh…My aching head…what hit me?”
“Remember…you and that boy came here yesterday, you were pretty worn out. You’ve been recovering since.”
“Oh…Right…and since the army didn’t let me in…Ugh…I have school tomorrow…”
Amy did NOT want to go back to university at any point, let alone tomorrow as she still felt like crap.
“Look on the bright side, you’re alive and well, and in my opinion, the army was something you don’t need to be in. The demon army command is more corrupt than it should be.”
‘Perhaps some changes should be made to the armies’ hierarchy…’ Amy thought, as she went slowly about her day.
The following day, she felt slightly better, but was still annoyed about having to go to university still.
“Ugh…I hate this place…” she grumbled.
“Well I’m not surprised, Angel, Demon, Human, doesn’t matter, they all hate school.” Jacob replied
“Never thought I’d hear someone like you say that. Pegged you as the studious type.”
“Eh…Not really. I study but not completely.” He said.
“Amy!” Lisa and Abby said, running up to them.
“Are you ok!? We heard you got caught up in that Angel attack!”
“It’s fine guys, I’m not hurt too badly.”
“TOO BADLY!?” The girls were not amused about this, but after a lot of talking, they seemed to be calmed down about the injuries.
“Who’s this?” Abby asked.
“Oh, this is Jacob, he’s a friend I made a few days ago.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you both.” Jacob said.
“Well come on! We’re gonna be late for class!”
“Ok ok…Let’s go!”
However, no one noticed someone watching from outside.
“Shadow, are you ready?”
“Yes Master, I’m ready.”
“Good, this attack on one of the largest demon universities will inspire fear of you in them. Now go, and destroy this building!”
“Affirmative, commencing attack.”
Amy on the other hand was dying of boredom.
“Now, as for this problem, does anyone have any questions?”
But as she was trying to focus, she felt a tug in her mind.
‘Amy…I feel like something is about to happen…’ Jacob said to her via a telepathic link.
‘Like what?’
‘I don’t know…but it’s gonna be big…’
As the class bell rang, the two stepped into a side hallway to talk.
“So what’s this big event?”
Suddenly, the Chemistry Lab exploded in a massive fireball, sending students fleeing in panic.
“That.”
“What, a chemistry mishap? That’s normal.”
“A: If that’s normal there are some serious problems in this school. And B: That was no Chemistry mishap. Look!”
A girl, wearing a strange visor, left the chemistry lab, wielding two blood-stained swords.
“What is that?!” Amy yelled.
“I have no idea! But she doesn’t look friendly!” Jacob responded.
“Targets locked on, beginning elimination protocol.” The girl said.
“Quick, we have to transform! It’s our only way to save the students!” Jacob yelled.
“Right, DEMON PRINCESS POWER, TRANSFORM!”
“FALLEN ANGEL POWER, TRANSFORM!”
After transforming, the two charged out in pursuit of the girl.
Meanwhile, Abby and Lise were running for their lives.
“Come on Lisa, we have to keep moving!”
“What in the world is that thing!?” Lisa yelled.
“I don’t know, but it’s going to kill us if we don’t move!”
However, as they fled, the worst possible thing that could have happened occurred.
“OW! MY LEG!” Lisa yelled, falling to the ground.
“Lisa!”
“My ankle…I twisted it!”
Abby ran over to grab Lisa, only to find the girl standing over them.
“N-No…HELP SOMEONE!”
Just as the girl swung at the two, another blade appeared and blocked the hit! Abby then looked over to see another girl standing there, her blade locked with the others.
“Identity scan engaged…No match found.”
“You wouldn’t have heard of me. I’m Bree, Guardian of Darkness and the Demon Kingdom!” She then turned to Jacob and said, “Jacob, let’s put this girl out of commission. You two get out of here.”
“R-Right.” Abby grabbed Lisa and quickly fled.
The girl responded to the attack by charging violently with her blades.
“Initiating duel combat protocol.”
Jacob and Amy leapt at her, but the strange girl began deftly blocking everything they threw at her.
‘We need to overwhelm her somehow!’ Amy yelled through their link.
‘Well if someone else came up behind her, she’d likely be unable to react fast enough to block!’
‘Well who is gonna do that!?’
Suddenly, Amy spotted Abby behind ‘Shadow’ as she swung a lab breaker on her head, shattering it and causing the girl to start bleeding.
“Third Threat detected, re-evaluating scenarios.”
“Now Bree!”
“Right!” Amy yelled, slashing her legs, and causing her to fall over. But just before she stabbed her dead, she stopped.
“Bree, what are you doing!?” Jacob yelled.
“This girl is not evil, she doesn’t deserve death. The only reason she did this was because she was forced to by those that did this to her.
“So what are you going to do?” Abby asked.
“Simple, remove their control.” Amy said, beginning to glow.
“IN THE NAME OF THE DEMON KINGDOM, LET THIS POWER CLEANSE THE DARKNESS, AND BRING BACK HONOR AND LIGHT INTO YOUR HEART! DARK CLEANSING!”
The girl began screaming for a moment as dark energy began coursing through her, before a large energy surge nailed the visor, shorting it out.
“Now what?”
“Jacob, take her back to the hideout, I’ve got a little visit to pay to the Angels about this. I get the feeling they know about this whole mess.
At Project ‘Shadow’ Headquarters, the scientists were in a panic.
“Sir, We’ve lost contact with ‘Shadow’!”
“What!? Are you certain!?” Matthew, the director in charge of the project, was now very worried. That project had been a nightmare to complete in the first place, and now this!? What else could go wrong!?
“Yes, we’ve got her homing beacon, but we can’t get a signal from her comms.”
Suddenly, a guard came running in.
“SIR, WE’VE GOT AN INTRUDER, THEY’RE-AUGH!”
A sword suddenly came right through his throat, and he fell over, dead. A girl then stepped in the room.
“W-Who are you!?”
“The one who will extract vengeance.” She said. The girl went into a berserk rage, massacring the scientists until only Matthew was left.
“W-What? WHAT KIND OF SORCERY IS THIS!?”
“No sorcery, just my skill with a blade. I’m here to get you back for what you did to our people.”
“How did you even know I was here!?”
“Turns out that a little birdy told me everything about the project. Felt a connection between your little experiment and him, and he caved pretty fast. He’s rotting in a ditch somewhere.”
Matthew’s eyes went wide, realizing that someone had betrayed him! Of course it was Carson, he had to run off and ruin everything!
“Y-You don’t have the guts to finish-“
Before he could finish that sentence, Matthew found his head removed suddenly from his neck.
Meanwhile, the Angels were racing to the scene.
“What is this about an attack at a research lab!?” their commander yelled.
“I don’t know, a large number of labs for Project ‘Shadow’ got attacked, and this one is the last one!” his second replied.
“Look!” one of the men yelled.
The last lab was now ablaze, and a girl was standing on the burning building.
“W-Who are you!?” yelled the commander.
“Who am I? I am vengeance, but you may call me Bree. Guardian of the Demon Kingdom. Now I must be going gentlemen, but here something for you to look at.” She said, disappearing.
A file folder flew into the commanders’ hands, with the title being: ‘Project Shadow’
“Who is this girl…” he said.
“Commander Walker?” his second questioned. When that didn’t get a response, he said,
“J-Jamie?”
“Enough, get as much evidence as you can from those labs, we need to discover what was happening here.” Jamie ordered. “There may not be much left, but those men have done something to warrant this, and we need to find out what!”
As for Amy, she returned to the Demon Realm to find Jacob in her room with the unconscious attacker.
“So, how’s the girl?”
“Fine, I sent Abby on home with Lisa to keep her safe.” Jacob replied.
“Good thinking, I’d hate to see either of them hurt. So, who’s this girl?”
“Her name is Maya. I knew her a few years back in high school until she disappeared. Didn’t think that my people would do something this horrible to her…”
“I see, well, keep an eye on her, we’ll need to take care of this soon.” Amy said, going into her bathroom.
‘Maya…this girl…she could be interesting…’ she thought, as she began to get cleaned up.
Things in the Demon Realm and Angel Realm were changing rapidly, and now, Amy was worried what may come next.
