Chapter Text
“Dami~!” Jon cooed as he practically tackled the older boy on sight when he found him on the roof top they planned to meet upon for that’s night patrol.
Damian caught Jon and the momentum made them spin a full circle but Damian managed to keep on his feet while they slid along the gravel roof top. Jon giggled as Damian’s arms wrapped tightly around his waist as if to keep from dropping him, it always made his heart flutter how determined Damian was to protect him when both of them knew he didn’t need it.
“How have you not dropped the habit of using names in uniform?” Damian chided him once they settled and stilled, still holding up Jon and the Super wrapped his legs and arms around Damian gleefully.
“Sorry, I know, I know.” Jon said as he smushed their faces together. “I just got so excited seeing you.”
“We saw each other yesterday.” Damian said but Jon could feel how Damian’s cheeks were warming up. “We must not let our personal relationship get in the way of the work, Superboy.”
“That’s impossible.” Jon said, kissing Damian’s face before dismounting from him and landing on the roof but lightly floating an inch or so above it. “But I will focus! Are you ready to put the fear of the Super Sons into the criminals of Metropolis tonight, Robin?” He grinned.
“In just a moment.” Damian said, taking Jon by the hand and pulling him close. “Just…to get it out of your system…so you’ll focus later…” He said softly, shifting closer.
“Mm, oh yes, I do need to focus.” Jon hummed amused, noticing that Damian was a little shy about finishing what he started and Jon didn’t mind one bit taking the lead.
Jon slid his arm around Damian’s waist, pulling the older boy flush up against him, his other hand cupped Damian’s rosy cheek, god he looked so cute.
“I love you~” Jon couldn’t help but coo before he drew them together in a tender kiss, one Damian eagerly pressed into.
Jon felt Damian grasp tightly to Jon’s shoulders before wrapping his arms around his neck instead, when Damian broke the kiss Jon chased after him to catch him in another. There was no way it was out of his system just yet.
“Mm, Jon.” Damian gasped pulling back again. “We’re in the air.” He said, looking down, the building they were on several feet below them.
“Dang it.” Jon said, looking down and then back at Damian. “I haven’t gotten my floating under control since we started dating, it’s kind of a hassle really.”
Damian’s face was burning a bright red and even in the dark as they left the lights of the city behind it was easy to see, Jon sighed wistfully.
“You…feel that much? Just because of…” Damian mumbled, his fingers curling against where he was holding Jon.
“Because of you~” Jon gave him a kiss on the cheek. “My love it a bit out loud, yea, but it leaves no doubts, right?”
“I have none.” Damian said quickly, looking Jon in the eye. “I…I wish to leave you none as well…but…It’s not the same.”
“Your love is a little quieter, Dami, but that’s alright.” Jon said smiling at him, trying not to let his feelings right now float them up into space right now. “But I have got good hearing and you say it loud enough for me.”
“You…are so sappy…” Damian mumbled but smiled that small genuine true smile that Jon adored. “I want to leave you no doubts.”
“Oh I have none~” Jon grinned and gave him a light squeeze, looking down again. “How about, as a new thing, maybe, and I hate to even suggest it really, no kissing until after patrol? No idea how long this will last.”
“That is a wise rule to add for the future.” Damian agreed. “But…seeing as we are already up here…” He hummed softly before drawing Jon back into a sensual kiss that made Jon shiver before jerking them both up higher in the sky.
“Ngh, Dami!” Jon sighed, hating to pull away but goodness. “Sometimes I think you are just testing if I will really take us up into space!”
“Mm, I am curious how far this reaction will take us.” Damian admitted, looking down, the building was harder to pick out now with how much height they’ve gained.
“Damian!” Jon scolded. “You cannot survive in space, you can’t, you are a human, please, don’t be like this.”
“You knew exactly how I am from the start.” Damian said looking back at Jon. “I’m in no danger, I trust you to keep me safe.”
Jon’s heart thundered in his chest but despite all of that they were just climbing higher before Jon decided to shut his eyes, concentrate and breathe it out till he felt more settled. He finally got a hold of his flight after a few minutes of this and took them back down to the building they had been on before.
“You are so…” Jon didn’t even know which word to land on.
“I love you too.” Damian said and smirked as he watched Jon float off his feet. “But we really should start our patrol now, shall we?”
Jon made a series of frustrated noise, but Damian was right, he knew exactly how his best friend, his boyfriend, was like and that was one of things Jon liked about him. The good, the bad, Jon wanted it all and Damian was willing to give that to him so Jon would deal with his nonsense when it showed up. He’d be open with Damian and Damian would try to be the same, it’s all Jon wanted…that and to kiss his stupid smirking face.
“Let’s go, partner.” Jon grinned deviously as he watched the smirk slip off Damian’s face.
“Don’t.”
“Off we go!” Jon took off, scooping Damian up like a pretty princess, his least favorite way to be carried when they flew together and laughed when Damian swatted at him.
Oh yes, this is exactly what they had wanted after all.
