Chapter Text
Before Lanolin decided to go find Tangle and Whisper she also thought if it was really worth telling them about this.
There was one reason she didn’t really want to tell them and obviously it was Tangle.
She would either tease her a lot about it or she would be completely flabbergasted and shocked she likes her childhood friend. (Not like that was a bad thing either.)
Whisper probably wouldn’t really care that much. Maybe she’s the one to talk to about this instead of adding Tangle to the discussion.
After a few minutes of thinking about it, she finally decided to just talk to them both since it seemed to be the the reasonable outcome.
Finding them wasn’t that hard actually. She originally thought it might be, but nope they were just lounging and chatting away. The only problem now was to start a conversation and talk about her feelings for the beetle.
That problem was taken care of right away when Tangle noticed Lanolin.
“Hey Lanolin! Surprised to see you here of all places. Thought you’ll still be in your little hobbit hole doing paper work.”
“Ha ha.. very funny. I came here to talk to both you and Whisper about something.”
“Oh shoot well ask away!”
Lanolin thought to herself for a moment. She still wasn’t sure is she should still tell them. Besides, what would they actually tell her? It was too late to think about the consequences since she was already here.
“Well I may or may nothavestartedtodevelopacrushojewel.”
“…”
“…”
“Oh alright cool cool.”
“WAIT WHAUHHT.”
“Yeah you know what I’ll just go now..”
“Wait no no! I didn’t mean to sound that shock. I mean I am! But like uh congrats-! Yeah?”
“..Yeah I’m leaving.”
“No no just wait a second. You clearly came here to tell us about this and you can’t walk away now so hm?”
“Yeah yeah I suppose I can’t turn back now and yes, I do seem to like like Jewel. I don’t know what to do about it and clearly you two whenever you deny it or not have a “special connection.”
“Well uh- I can’t confirmed or deny that last part, but yeah me and Whisper are pretty close right, Whisp?”
A single nod came from Whisper.
“Yeah see, but I’m gonna guess you came to us for like.. advice?”
“Yes and I wouldn’t have done it in the first place if the thoughts didn’t keep plaguing my mind.”
“Well for of all I’m gonna assume you know a lot more about Jewel and well she’s probably has mention something about her liking to minerals and stuff. She does own a museum after all so maybe just ask her to show you one day.”
“Well, yeah she has and that’s also a pretty good idea, but uh do you have anything to say on this, Whisper?”
Whisper just sat and stared. A norm for her, but during a conversation like this Lanolin was getting a little tease.
“Don’t be too shy.”
“Thanks.. I’ll take that into consideration.”
“Well, good luck Lanolin!!”
And Lanolin was off again. She thanked the both of them before she left of course, but now was the time to go talk to Jewel. It shouldn’t be that hard, right?
She made her way to Jewel’s office. Well, they both worked in the same office so technically it was also hers, but she still saw Jewel as the head director rather than a “friend.”
Jewel was almost drowned in paperwork and frankly, looked like she was almost falling asleep when Lanolin arrived. Jewel didn’t even notice her walk in until Lanolin had to tap her out of her trance from working so much.
“Oh! Lanolin! You startled me there! It seems I kinda got lost in work again, but what may I help you with?”
“Well uh, this isn’t a work related question, but I was just wondering when you, or us, we uhm, when we both have a free day off from restoration work I was just wondering if you could show me your museum that you mentioned a few times about..?”
Jewel stared at Lanolin with a little bit of a surprised shocked on her face. It was very awkward for Lanolin as this actually went on for two minutes of them staring. This was broken by some small giggles and a smile from Jewel.
“Yes, I would love to show you the museum. It’s quite a nice place and I been meaning to ask you if you wanted to see it. I’ll be looking forward to this little date.”
“Well that’s great and wait did you say date. It’s not really.. well it sorta is, but it doesn’t have to be considered one if you don’t want it to be one.?”
“It’s alright Lanolin I understand. We’ll considered this a date I don’t mind. It’ll be really nice spending some more time with you outside of restoration.”
Lanolin sighed a brief of relief. She had ask Jewel on a date and frankly she was looking forward to it. For now however, the two of them had work to catch up on. She could think about Jewel whenever she wanted to another time. She was already spending time with her anyways and that was all she needed right now. (Well and maybe a cup a coffee wouldn’t hurt also.)
