Chapter Text
You finally felt like you could breathe properly for the first time in weeks. After tomorrow, all of your finals will be done, and you will finally have free time again. All you have left is your dance final with Hoseok, and it wouldn’t hurt to get one more practice in.
To Hobi<3:
Just finished my last final of the day :) wanna practice for tomorrow?
From Hobi<3:
I can’t today, I’m at work :’(
Your face fell with disappointment, but you could always use a chai latte and a blondie, so you decided to pay your favorite coffee shop a visit.
“Jimin, how did you know you were in love with Yoongi?” Hoseok didn’t look at his friends as he spoke. They didn’t have any customers, so Hoseok was making some drinks for three of them, while Jimin and Jungkook restocked the front counter with snacks.
“It sounds stupid,” Jimin wiped his hands on his apron as he stood up from restocking the counter, “but I just knew. He became my first and last thought of the day, and I began to care more about his well being than my own. I just kinda realized what all that meant one day when he was sick and I took him some soup. It just hit me and I couldn’t stop the ‘I love you’ before it spilled past my lips,” Jimin laughed at his memory, a fond look in his eyes, “luckily, Yoongi felt the same way and I couldn’t be happier,” he smiled at Hoseok so wide his eyes disappeared.
Hoseok nodded at Jimin’s words, soaking them in as he went back to his own thoughts. “Why?” Jungkook snickered as he spoke, “Are you in love with Y/N?”
The more he thought about it, the more it made sense. Whenever he tried a new food or heard a new song, he immediately thought of you and if you would like it. He was always worried you weren’t eating or sleeping, to the point it kept him from eating or sleeping. When you were around him, he couldn’t help but soak up every small detail about you, down to the way your eye twitched when you were tired or the way you would get cranky if you hadn’t eaten. Even now, his heart swelled just from thinking about you. “Yeah,” Hoseok responded as the bell dinged, signaling a new customer, “I think I am.”
“You are what?” You had just walked into the shop, and Hoseok immediately started to panic, his eyes as large as the moon with horror, hoping you didn’t hear any more of their conversation.
“Ready for the final dance you guys are doing together,” Jimin placed his arm around Hoseok’s shoulders as he spoke, “right Hobi?”
Afraid his voice would betray him, he just nodded in agreement, trying to not look at you for too long, but failing miserably. Your cheeks were tinged pink from the cold, and your hair had been tousled by the wind. You had on that same pink beanie you wore the first day of your dance class, and Hoseok couldn’t help but smile at how it matched your cheeks. Seeing you in person just confirmed how he felt about you. All the butterflies and warmth he felt around you, it was love. “Hoseok? Hello? EARTH TO HOSEOK?!” Jungkook hit his back as he yelled at him, pulling him out of his own world.
“Sorry to ruin your daydream, but your girlfriend wants a latte, lover boy,” Jungkook had the decency to say this quiet enough so you couldn’t hear, but Hoseok still hit Jungkook’s arm to make him hush.
“What brings you here?” Hoseok brought you your order when it was ready, joining you at your usual table after telling the other two he was going on break. He hoped you didn’t notice the slight tremble in his voice or the shaking of his hands.
“Well,” You take a sip of your latte before you continue, smiling at its warmth, “the same things that always bring me here, good drinks, good food, and you.” You smile at him as you speak, giggling at the redness in his ears from your words. “I’ve missed hanging out with you this past week. I need my daily dose of Hobi.” You playfully stuck your tongue out at him, receiving a light nudge to your leg as he pretended to think you were cheesy, but he couldn’t hide his smile.
The next morning, you woke up to two text messages from Hoseok:
From Hobi <3:
Hey, I need to talk to you about something.
From Hobi<3:
Nothing bad ^^ just we need to talk today after our final so don’t run away lol :)
You asked him why he couldn’t tell you now, be he responded that he would rather do it in person, so you let it drop and told him you will meet up with him at the auditorium. Natalie helped you out with your hair, pinning it half up in the back with soft curls falling just over your shoulders, and your makeup, making you look like a ethereal princess, your skin glowing with the lightest hint of shimmer. You dressed in a white button up blouse, so you didn’t mess up your hair, and brought your outfit with you that you were going to change into for your performance.
The two of you walked to the auditorium together, and the closer you got, the more nervous you became. “Hey, look at me.” You turned to see your roommate with a concerned look on her face. “You will do great. There is no way in hell your teacher isn’t going to pass you. So do you and don’t worry about the grade.” She smiled widely as she pulled you into a side hug, making you giggle as the two of you almost stumbled sideways.
When you get inside, you see Hoseok’s (and now your) group of friends chatting in the entrance hall. Jimin notices you first, and practically trips over Taehyung to greet you. “Y/N!! Oh my god!! You look amazing!” He pulls you into a into a hug so tight it closes off your airways.
“Thanks Jimin, but I can’t breathe,” you struggle to gets your words out, but he promptly lets you go, apologizing as Yoongi walks up beside him.
“You’ll have to excuse Jimin, he doesn’t know his own strength.” He sends a cute gummy smile to his boyfriend as he whines about being teased.
“Wow, Y/N, you look fine as hell.” Jungkook sends a look that is so predatory it makes you shiver, and Jimin slaps him for his comment. “What? She’s hot!” He gives Jimin an exasperated look, as if his explanation should make everything okay.
“I’ve got to go get ready, thank you guys for being here! See you later!!” You leave Natalie with them as you run backstage to get ready and find Hoseok.
After getting ready, Hoseok emerges from the dressing room to find you looking for him backstage. The two of you agreed to just wear all black, so he is in a pair of black slacks and black dress shoes, accompanied by a black button down collared shirt, with the first few buttons left undone, showing off his toned chest. When he locks eyes with you, his heart stutters before it picks back up and beats twice as fast. You have on a black dress with a sweetheart neckline, the bodice a satin material and the skirt is made from tule, layered so it falls right above your knees in a waterfall fashion. Your shoes are black matte pumps that make you almost as tall as he is. When your eyes meet with his, your face forms the most radiant smile he has ever seen, and he isn’t sure he could speak without the word 'love’ falling past his lips.
Hoseok should wear black more often. He looks absolutely stunning in the color, making his honey colored skin look even more delectable, and it takes everything in you to not pull him down into a bruising kiss the moment you see him. “There you are! I’ve been looking all over for you! What did you want to talk to me ab-”
“Hoseok! Y/N! You two are up next, go to the stand by area, and I’ll signal for when you go on.” The stage hand directed the two of you to the side of the stage, still hidden behind the curtains, your question for Hoseok pushed back as your nerves came back full force. Sensing you tense up beside him, he reaches for your hand, linking his fingers in yours before squeezing your hand and sending you a reassuring smile. “You’ll do great. I won’t let you fail.” He leaned down and pressed his lips to your forehead, the action so gentle and loving it made your heart flutter.
When the couple before you finished, the stage hand told the two of you to go on, but you couldn’t move. Hoseok turned your head to make him face you. “Hey, look at me. Only me. It’s just the two of us here. We are gonna just dance in my apartment again, and it’ll be fun. I promise.” You nodded and kept your eyes on him, never looking away.
He lead you to the center of the stage, never letting go of your hand, never breaking eye contact. Somewhere in the back of your mind, you register hearing a cat call from someone who sounds an awful lot like Natalie, then the music starts.
Every time the two of you touch, his fingers linger just a little too long, and his gaze never falters, sending electricity between the two of you. His breath hitches as your face gets close to his, he can feel the warmth of your breath as you exhale, your sweet scent intoxicating him, making him shudder. He looks at you with such intense emotion, you find yourself forgetting to breathe properly. At the end of the dance, when he has you wrapped up in his warm embrace, back flush against his chest, you can hear him panting in your ear, the action making you shiver. You turn to look at him, finding his gaze already on you, and after a quick whisper of “fuck it”, you find yourself being spun around to face him, and tilted back into a dip (causing your leg to kick up in the air), as he leans down and presses his lips to yours, trying to convey all of his feelings for you through the action.
The entire auditorium erupted with applause, bringing the two of you back to reality, and Hoseok pulled you back upright, keeping an arm around your waist to steady you (you were a bit dizzy) as the stage hand shooed you off stage to get the next act out there.
Hoseok pulled you into an empty corridor, and leaned against the wall as he pulled you close to him. “I’m sorry for doing that,” he started as he read the shock still on your face, “I just couldn’t help it. I’m not even sure if you feel the same way and I-” finally catching up to the reality of the situation, you threw your arms around Hoseok’s neck, pulling him into kiss so fast you accidentally bumped noses, making the two of you giggle. “I,” Hoseok sighs before starting again, “I love you Y/N, and I want you to be mine. Only mine.”
You smile at him, pulling him into a gentle kiss before reading your forehead against his. “I was always yours Hoseok. All you had to do was ask.”

FIVE YEARS LATER
“Miss Y/N!!!! Jackson won’t stop chasing me!!” BamBam ran behind your legs, using you as a shield to protect himself from his dance classmate.
It’s only been two years since your graduation, but with some help from Seokjin, and a loan from your bank, you were able to open up a dance studio, that also teaches dance classes each week.
“Jackson, be nice or Mr. Hoseok will have to have a chat with you and your mom.”
“Did I hear my name?” Hoseok walked through the door with water and fruit snacks for the entire class, setting them down on the floor and letting the kids take what they want as he pulled you to the side of the class to give you a quick kiss, causing the kids to start teasing the two of you. “Hey you are still gonna stop by my place for supper tonight right?”
“Yes Hoseok, this is the fifth time you have asked me to stop by for supper and I said yes every time. Why do you keep asking?”
He twirled the small velvet box in his pocket, holding a small diamond ring, as he sent you a knowing smile. “Just making sure baby. Now shoo! I have a class to teach.” He made a show of pushing you out of the dance room, making all the children laugh, and you shook your head, wondering how you got so lucky to have someone like him in your life.
