Chapter Text
Angelina had weird dreams. In fact, weird might be an understatement. Her vision swelled with images of gunsmoke and the sound of flesh meeting an unfortunate appointment with steel. Laying in her modest bedroom, she tossed and turned for hours, sweat beading her temples until finally (and it felt like forever), it was time to rise.
But not before seeing *them*.
They had their back to her, shoulders tight, breath heaving. Angelina felt the odd need to drink in the sight, hand coming to grasp her bed linens in the real world while the dream progressed. They visited her nightly, this faceless visage that smelled so strongly of gunpowder. Broadened shoulders held an impressive black coat, not unlike the ones you’d see at church on…priests.
“Who are you?”
They never answered- this was no church, no holy place. The miasma swirling in her mind confirmed that there was no presence worth praying to- just *them*; wordless, voiceless presence.
“Yu…”
They could speak.
“Me?”
Angelina’s breath hitched as she took in their voice, raspy and accented, familiar somehow. She could feel it, a feather touch against her ear at night, a breathless cry covered in sweat and playing off her own rapidly accelerating heartbeat.
Who WAS this?
She awoke drenched, darkness obscuring an important sense as Angelina tried to reassure herself of her surroundings. It smelled like the same shitty Rome apartment, dust and a crappy rose scented candle she’d burned before sleeping.
It was missing gunpowder.
