Chapter Text
"You got in a fight again?" Izuku asked, walking faster so that he could see his cousin's face. Mayumi was still holding gauze to her nose, trying to get the bleeding to stop.
"And suspended. Asshole barely got reprimanded at all." She replied bitterly, turning her head to spit blood into the grass along the sidewalk. "Katsuki didn't do a damn thing either."
Izuku shrugged, a guilty look crossing his face. "He uh, you know how he is-"
"I do, still would have been nice. Is your mom home, or do you know when she'll be back?"
"Uh..." Izuku looked at his watch. "She'll be home in about half an hour, why?" He asked, looking back up at her.
"The nurse said that I should go to the ER if it was still bleeding when I got home."
"What about Hayami? She has her license now, right?"
Mayumi shrugged. "No, she doesn't. She's not allowed to drive even if she did."
Izuku glanced away, his voice a bit quieter than before. "I don't like your dad."
Mayumi sighed. "I don't either. He's gotten worse since... what happened with mom, but whatever. Just what I have to deal with."
"What happened with her was his fault, though." Izuku led Mayumi up the stairs to his apartment, pulling out the key to the front door. He fumbled with the lock a little before finally unlocking the door.
"What are you talking about?" Mayumi followed Izuku inside, setting her school bag on the ground next to the door. She wadded up her jacket and tossed it in the washer, setting it to a quick cycle before pulling back a chair and sitting at the dining table.
"Like... he was bad then, that's why she did it. You know that already, there's no way you wouldn't."
Mayumi inhaled, looking around uncomfortably. "Right, I guess so... she shouldn't have gotten into that in the first place, but whatever." She pulled the gauze away from her nose, seeing that it very much was still bleeding. "Ugh. You have gauze here, right?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah." Izuku looked over. "Geez- are you sure you're alright?" He walked into the kitchen, shifting through the cupboards next to the fridge before pulling out a first aid kit.
"Kinda? I mean, it doesn't hurt anymore-?"
"That's gross," He replied, pulling out another piece of gauze to hand to her. "Give me the that one."
"No, it's fine, I'll just-"
Izuku shook his head before snatching her bloodied gauze away. "I'm already up-"
"Hey- I need to wash my hands anyways-" Mayumi stood, trying to grab it back as he took it to the trash. "Ugh, whatever."
"You know, if you just used your quirk when you get into fights then you wouldn't get beat up like that."
"You know how insanely strong it would probably be, especially if I were angry? Besides, I'm not allowed to."
Izuku rolled his eyes. "You're not allowed to get in fights either, and what does he know about it? It's not like they'll tell him you used it or not."
"He's not stupid, he'd be able to tell by my lack of injuries. Especially given how crazy everyone there is, if I'm not bleeding I'm either a liar or a cheater."
"It's not cheating, it's just being smarter. And they use their quirks anyways."
Mayumi smirked. "Only because they know they're gonna lose."
"No-" Izuku sighed. "That is NOT what I meant."
"Close enough, and you know I'm right." Mayumi looked over to the television, seeing a report about a supposed "villain" duo. "Ugh... is there nothing else on?"
Izuku glanced into the living room briefly. "Uh... I don't know. But you don't like how they're reporting it either?" He asked, glancing back to his cousin.
"Ew, no. They demonize them so much."
"It's most likely because of their quirk type. Blood-based quirks are usually not very liked... especially since theirs are extremely violent..."
"Okay, since you know so much what do they do?"
"Oh- well the sister can make bladed weapons out of exposed blood, like from cuts and splatter, and the brother can make exposed blood and either burn it or blow it up."
"...Of course you'd know that, why did I expect that you wouldn't-"
"Well- that's what it looks like from footage- some of the videos on YouTube are better than what they show on the reports."
Mayumi scoffed at the television one more time before looking at the gauze again. "Even on the reports it's obvious they aren't villains. It's crazy how many people think they are just because some stupid middle-aged man on their tv told them as much. Newscasters are just puppets. You can tell even he doesn't believe it."
Izuku grabbed the remote and switched off the television. "Doesn't matter anyways. As long as they don't get caught, they'll keep doing these reports. But if the heros wanted to catch them, they would have a while ago."
