Chapter Text
At the turning of the seasons, there exists a certain inescapable need to look back at the past. As the years go by, the images start to become blurry, the days of spring seem to become a distant dream.
“Spring blossoms and autumn moon - when will they end?”
The melody that once rang out in spring has now turned sorrowful; the tree that once stood proud has had its branches wither and its leaves fall off.
“I ask you, how much sorrow can there be?”
How much sorrow exists in this world? How many goodbyes can you say in one lifetime?
“It's just like a whole river full of eastward flow in spring.”
But through grief, through pain, the heart does not forget. Even before time, before this world, there existed love.
Even if the world were to end, I know that we will meet each other again amongst the stars.
In the clear wind the sala flowers get carried away. The soft sound of the breeze blowing through the trees, like a whispered lullaby, like a dream on a spring night. Darkness falls once again; in this world, everything must eventually come to an end.
“I ask you, how much sorrow can there be?”
But the light will never fade. The love that was born during those precious days of youth will not go away. Across the ages, across the universe, love will exist.
Like a red string of fate tying them together, there are people that are destined to meet in each lifetime. No matter the time, no matter the place, their souls will forever be interwoven with each other.
And so again and again, they will return to meet. Beginnings and endings, reunions and separations, laughter and tears, finding each other until the universe disappears.
But for now it is time to bid goodbye. You're going back. To where we all come from. To a time before memory.
But I will remember. How your hand felt in mine, tracing the lines on our palms, fate tying us together.
You're going back. Back to the beginning.
The end was moments ago, the beginning is moments away; that infinite second of light when we will be perfect.
Goodnight, travel well. Until we meet again.
