Chapter Text
HAZEL
"What?" It all made sense now. Hazel had noticed the way Frank's eyes had widened and this look of familiarity crossed him.
"Haha.." Piper awkwardly laughed, Frank just sank down his chair even more and coughed into his hand. Looking at everything and anything except for anyone but Piper.
"Frank Zhang, it's your turn.." The daughter of Aphrodite mumbled, a strained smile on her face. Frank mumbled something himself but ultimately gave in.
Considering the others were looking at them in disbelief, and well Jason was glaring and almost looked offended at the notion.
"Were, engaged." The son of Mars started. "We were engaged because my grandmother wanted us to, but–"
"Hey, that's not the story." Piper cut him off, Frank raised a brow at his ex fiance.
"Yeah it is, it was only broken off because your dad wanted you to marry someone you love."
"No. You proposed."
"When did I–?"
"You were five, I don't blame you for not remembering. But you proposed, I still have the little frog ring you gave me."
"Really?"
Piper had reached inside her shirt and hooked on her finger once her hand retreated was a cute, plastic frog ring that was attached to a necklace chain.
"Huh, well won't you look at that.." Frank said, "Doesn't change the fact your dad broke off the engagement."
Hazel caught a hint of.. Wait, was that.. Bitterness? Was Frank bitter the engagement was broken off? Was Piper like a childhood sweetheart?
"Okay, yes that he did, but I begged him not to, you know." Piper leaned back into her chair.
"You were the only boy that—"
Leo leaned into Hazel's ear, "They're worse than Percy and Annabeth.."
Yeah. They were.
Much, much worse.
JASON
Jason didn't like this. Didn't like how Piper adorned the plastic little thing around her neck like it was a once in a lifetime won meddle.
"You were the only boy that I felt comfortable and safe with, and I may had been reading a bit too many arranged marriage books.." The Cherokee ranted on, "Uh, point is I really didn't wanna break off the engagement."
Frank looked at her with wide eyes before they softened, and a smile set across his face.
They said nothing after that.
***
It was becoming insufferable at this point.
Ever since the talk during morning, Frank and Piper were inseparable. If Piper was there then the son of Mars was sure to follow, and vice versa.
Jason sighed as he sat on the Argo's couch.
Of course Frank had to be there, on his phone, scrolling through whatever. Piper was no where to be seen but she was probably clos by.
The two were practically attached at the hip at this point.
"Uh.. Frank?" Piper yelled from the kitchen, was something.. Burning?
"Yeah?"
"The toaster's on fire."
Suddenly Frank was on his feet, Jason hadn't registered what he had been heard until Frank was already in the kitchen.
"Pipes, unplug it!"
"Can you carry it—?" "UNPLUG IT–"
After the whole fiasco, Piper was sat on the couch nervously. After a tired Frank came in and passed her the sandwich that had started the whole fiasco.
It was a toasted PB and J.
".. Sorry." Frank only sighed at the response and gave her a kiss on the temple. Damn it, it should've been Jason.
This went on for weeks.
WEEKS. Even as they made it to their own camps, weeks on end. The two could still be pin pointed to be together almost every hour.
And, in those weeks. Jason couldn't even get a tile close to Piper, Frank always just seemed to appear out of nowhere like he was purposely getting in the way. (Which he was.)
So, of course.
Of. Course.
Jason had to walk in on them having one of their lovey dovey, practically married since childhood moments.
Piper sat on the bleachers as she took in the sight of Frank training, this.. Looked like the stereotypical Ares and Aphrodite relationship in shows.
"You sure you don't wanna spar?" Frank asked her, patting off his sweat with the hand towel Piper had given him.
"Nahhh.." The daughter of Aphrodite dismissed him, "I like training in the morning, the air is colder."
Also. Why was Piper even at Camp Jupiter at the moment? I mean, Jason was pretty sure that Camp half-blood was somewhere located in New York.
Reyna waved a hand over his face, raising a brow at him as he looked back at her.
"You good?"
"Yeah. I'm good."
He was not good.
