Chapter Text
John and Wendy woke up the next day. After cleaning up John's room of their pillow fort, they walked down to the dining room, where the Never Pirates (minus Jake, Jessica and Flynn), were eating.
Wendy looked reluctant to go in, until Beardini noticed her and said, "You can sit with us if you want, you know?"
Wendy was surprised. "You want me to sit with you guys?" She asked.
"Yeah! I mean, you helped calm Jake down and helped him see the truth last night." Pip said.
Wendy smiled. They finally saw her as an ally. As she sat down, she asked, "Where’s Jake and the other two?"
"Jake's still scared so Jess and Flynn are helping him out. They should be down in a few minutes." Beatrice explained.
"Why those two?" Wendy asked, curious.
"They’re the first two to see Jake like this, so they know more about what to do than we do." Dread said.
"They must really care for Jake, huh?" Wendy said, smiling.
"Well yeah, those two are his first parents." Mummy said.
"First parents?" Wendy repeated, confused.
"Yeah. Jessie and Flynn are his first parents, while Me and Hook are his second parents." Beatrice explained.
"Oh…" Wendy said. Then she thought for a few seconds, and turned to the rest. "What's your guys' relationship with him?"
"Well, it’s hard to explain. We tend to change roles from time to time. Just think of us as Jake's Brothers/Uncles/Cousins." Fathom said, the others agreeing.
"So, as Jake's family…" Wendy said, thinking about it more.
"Yep! A family I created!"
Wendy jumped and turned around, seeing Jake with Jessica and Flynn, Jake holding their hands.
"How are you doing right now, Jake?" Wendy asked, worried that Jake might have another breakdown.
"I'm fine, Wendy. Thanks for asking." Jake said as he sat down next to John.
"Okay, good." Wendy said, relieved. Then she saw John make a gesture with his hands. She was confused for a second, then remembered. "Oh, Jake! There's something I want to talk to you about."
"Hmm, what's up, Wen?" Jake asked, curious about what she wanted to talk about.
“I…I wanna learn to fight. For you guys.” Wendy said.
“You want to fight alongside us?” Jake asked.
“Yes.” Wendy said, and explained at the skeptic looks the others gave her. “You guys gave me a chance when I should been tossed aside as a loss cause. I want to repay you for giving me a chance.”
“Well, we could train you, but with how everyone else still sees you…” Jake trailed off, but Jessica interrupted him.
“We could train her.” Jessica said, pointing to herself, Dread, Fathom and Beardini.
“You sure?” Jake asked, surprised.
“Yeah, we can use that one arena here on the island.” Beardini said.
“You guys want to train me? Even after all I did to you?” Wendy asked, shocked.
“Well, yeah. You showed us you changed after you helped Jake calm down last night.” Fathom said, smiling.
“So, how ‘bout it, Darling? Want us to train you?” Dread asked as the others, minus Jake and John, looked at her for her answer.
Wendy thought for a moment, then smiled and said, “Alright. I’ll let you guys train me.”

The arena they mentioned was huge, with bleachers surrounding the arena floor. The floor itself was stone, in a dark and light brown pattern.
“Wow…” Wendy said, looking around the arena.
“Yep, this is the place where we ourselves train.” Jessica explained.
“So this is where you guys will train me while the others train the rest?” Wendy asked.
“Yep! Don’t worry, we’ll go easy on you until you’re ready.” Fathom said.
“Hey, Beardini! You mind making holo-version of us?” Dread asked.
“Already done it.” Beardini said, pointing to the holo-versions of the Four.
“Okay, let’s do this.” Wendy said, grabbing a sword.
“All right.” Jessica said, “Everything begins with your stance.” She then guides Wendy on how to hold the sword properly, as the holo-version of her came up to them.
“Remember, you do it for them, and you would do it again.” She then helps Wendy clash her sword with the holo-Jessica’s. Wendy smiles as Jesscia sings, “You do it for him, that is to say, you’ll do it for them.”
The Four then mentor Wendy on her stance.
Dread: ♫Keep your stance wide, / Keep your body lowered, / As you're moving forward, / Balance is the key♫
Fathom then crosses swords with Wendy, going more stern on Wendy to focus on her stance and target.
Fathom: ♫ Right foot; left foot, / Now go even faster, / And as you're moving backwards, / Keep your eyes on me. ♫
Days later, Wendy starts to face off against a advanced level holo, while the Four watch her.
Wendy: ♫ Keep my stance wide. ♫
Beardini: Good.
Wendy:♫ Keep my body lowered. ♫
Jessica: Right.
Wendy: ♫ As I'm moving forward... ♫
She then rushes to the holo, clashing swords with it and losing her balance for a moment.
Dread: Concentrate! Don't you want him to live?!
Wendy regains balance and continues to soar with the holo.
Wendy: ♫ Right foot, left foot. ♫
Fathom: Yes, but put your whole body into it! ♫ Everything you have, / Everything you are, / You've got to give— ♫
One night, Wendy sits on the bleachers as Beardini shows her something.
Beardini: ♫ On the battlefield, / When everything is chaos, / And you have nothing but the way you feel, your strategy and a sword. ♫
He produce a hologram version of a memory, where the Four and their crew were fighting a dragon, and watch Jake get slashed by the dragon.
Jessica: ♫ You just think about the life you'll have together after the war! ♫
The Four and their friends grew angry and stood between Jake and the dragon, the memory ending before the Wendy could see what happened next.
Dread then fight his holo, defeating it with a sword to it’s chest.
Dread: ♫ And then you do it for her, / That's how you know you can win, / You do it for her, that is to say, / You'll do it for him. ♫
From the constant training over the days, Wendy suffers minor injuries and skin tears on her sword hand.
Fathom: ♫ Deep down you know, / You weren't built for fighting, / But that doesn't mean, / You're not prepared to try. ♫
Beardini then comforts Wendy momentarily and bandages her wounds and sword hand.
Beardini: ♫ What they don't know, / Is your real advantage. / When you live for someone, / You're prepared to fight. ♫
Wendy's appearance changes drastically, as she dons on a new training outfit and her sword-fighting skill progressively gets better.
Wendy: ♫ Deep down, I know, / That I'm just a human. ♫
Fathom: True.
The Four and Wendy: ♫ But you/I know that you/I can draw your/my sword and fight. ♫
Wendy faces off with an advance-level holo again as the Four watch.
Wendy: ♫ With my short existence. ♫
Jessica: Good.
Wendy: ♫ I can make a difference. ♫
Dread: Yes, excellent!
Wendy: ♫ I can be there for them, I can help them fight. ♫
With increased agility and increased sword proficiency, Wendy successfully defeats the holo.
Wendy: ♫I can do it for them.♫
The Four and Wendy then take on a fighting stance.
The Four and Wendy: ♫You'd do it for him.♫
Jessica: ♫Okay, now do that again.♫
“Yes, ma'am!” Wendy said, a determined look on her face.
At the end of training, Wendy kneels before the Four.
Fathom: ♫You do it for him, And now you say.♫
Wendy: ♫I'll do it for them.♫
She then stands up and smiles.
“Nice job, Wen!” Fathom said, smiling.
“Yeah! You did great!” Dread said, patting her on the back.
“Thanks guys! I couldn’t have done it without you guys.” Wendy said, blushing from the praise.
“Let’s take a break, okay guys?” Jessica said, sitting down on the bleachers, the others following her lead.
“So… have you decided who’s going to be the new leader of Neverland?” Wendy asked.
“Well, yeah! We decided to have Jake as the leader of Neverland.” Dread said.
“Jake? Isn’t he… too young?” Wendy asked, trying not to sound rude.
“Well, we have a saying in the crew.” Jessica said.
“Oh?”
“Yep! It doesn’t matter how young or old you are, it’s how big your heart is that matters.” Fathom said.
“‘How big your heart is’...” Wendy said, thinking about it and agreeing with it. Then Dread said something that made Wendy realize.
“Hey, do you all think Jake might get a fairy?”
Wendy gasped, causing the Four to look at her.
“What’s wrong?” Beardini asked.
“I figured out how Peter found out about the rebellion!"
