Chapter 2: More Than Friends

Chapter Text

It was already morning, and the first thing Yuu noticed was that his phone was dead due to his lack of attention the day before. His almost-kiss with Mika turned everything into a blur, and obviously, being a big idiot, he must have left it poorly connected.

He slapped himself before properly connecting and got up to find some clothes in the complete mess he had left in his room. It was a medium-sized room with white walls, LED lights on the ceiling, a TV, a desk, a sofa between the TV and the bed, and some cabinets to store his mess.

Yuu finally found an acceptable outfit: a white shirt, tight jeans, and a black hoodie. As he put on the hoodie, his phone rang with a special ringtone he had set for Mika, a reminder of the events from the night before.

He jumped onto the bed and grabbed his phone, checking the battery symbol still charging, and answered Mika. "Hi? Yuu-Chan?" Mika's calm voice echoed through Yuu's room. "Hi, Mika," he said, a smile brightening his face.

Yuu swung his legs like a love-struck girl in a teenage movie, his face beaming, and his heart drowning out all sounds except Mika's gentle voice. "Do you... want to go to the movies later?" Mika asked, making Yuu freeze momentarily, overwhelmed with joy.

Nervous, Mika worried he might have given the wrong impression, despite genuinely wanting to invite Yuu out. "Like, the last time I came to Japan was a year ago, just for a week, so I didn't get to do much besides helping with the autumn collection runway," he explained. "I DO!" Yuu shouted as he snapped out of his daze.

"Great! Are you free at 2:30?" Mika replied excitedly. "Yes, the whole day, no plans," Yuu confirmed. "So, 2:30 at the mall where we used to go with the orphanage group?" Mika asked. "Yes, that's fine. Is the cinema still in the same place?" Yuu inquired.

Mika, searching for a specific outfit, continued, "Yes, and do you have a movie in mind, or shall we choose one when we get there?" Yuu nodded, then realized they were on a voice call. "Yes, I've been wanting to see a movie for a while," he said.

"And which one?" Mika asked, now hunting for a particular sock. "It's a romantic comedy about a barista and a young model, a silly, funny, and cliché romance. I like that kind of cliché," Yuu explained. "I have nothing in mind. You got any preferences?" he added.

Mika expressed surprise, "No, I like romcoms. Always thought you were more into action." Yuu laughed, "I do enjoy action, but romances are nice, and this one caught my attention." They shared a moment realizing the main actresses resembled them.

"It seems kind of cute, right?" Yuu admitted, a bit embarrassed. Mika found it adorable, and the discovery of Yuu's interest in romance was unexpected but a new common ground. Mika heard his father calling, "Yuu, I'll call you later; my dad's calling. See you at the movies!" Mika reluctantly hung up.

[《◇》]

Mika hurried down the stairs. "Dad, what's up?" His father, sitting at the kitchen table, shifted his gaze to Mikaela.

"What do you want for coffee?" He put down his phone. "I don't want to eat much... I agreed to go to the movies with Yuu later, so I'm saving myself for popcorn," the younger one headed towards the stove and turned it on. "And what about you?" Shikama stroked his son's head. "That dish you made yesterday."

Mika gave his father a disdainful look. "Again? It's the fourth time you've asked me to make that..." A vein popped on the blue-eyed man's cheek. The graying man whistled, avoiding eye contact, and upon looking at his son's face again, burst into laughter.

"Sorry, it's just so good. Your son is good at everything he does with his hands." His laughter died down when he realized the double entendre in his words, deciding to tease his son further. "Yuu-Chan is one lucky guy!" He leaned his face on his right hand, displaying a playful smile.

Mikaela turned as red as a tomato. He used to be innocent about these jokes, or he ignored them, but his father always brought up Yuu when making them, leaving Mika in his current embarrassed state.

"Dad, be quiet..." He pretended to be annoyed and returned to the pot. Shi laughed at his grown-up baby's reactions. "Are you going to use your abilities at the cinema today with him?" Mika turned off the stove and gave his father a deadly look he learned from his adoptive mother.

"Okay, okay, I'll stop." The golden-eyed one said; he wasn't afraid of his son and knew Mikaela didn't intend to scare him. He just made this sulking cat face when he was in a bad mood or annoyed.

"Hmm..." Mika rummaged through the cabinet to find the ingredients after heating the pot. "But seriously, I hope you two share some kisses at the cinema. It's the perfect setting, dark without parents. Today's a weekday, so it won't be too crowded – a great environment for the kisses you owed each other yesterday." Mika paused for a moment.

"I don't think anything will happen. Sure, Yuu likes guys; he told me himself yesterday, but... I doubt it was more than a spur-of-the-moment thing, you know?" The blond had a tendency to talk a lot when he was upset, nervous, or excited – a shared characteristic with Yuu. "He didn't even mention it when I talked to him just now. Maybe I should pretend it never happened..."

The older Doji stood up and caressed his newfound son's head. It had been a shock for him to discover he had a lost son, but he had always wanted children. However, he never had a girlfriend long enough to consider having children with her or adopting a child. Small kids are a handful, and he didn't want to burden a babysitter with raising his child. Although he hadn't raised Mikaela, Shi did his best to be a good father, thankful to Krul for raising him well.

"You worry too much, son. Why always think of the worst option?" He sighed dramatically. "I'm not thinking of the worst option; I'm thinking of the most likely one," the younger Doji started a repetitive monologue about how Yuu would never see him in that light. Shi simply continued to stroke his son's head, having heard this same speech five times the previous week.

》>♧<《

Yuichiro was heading towards the cinema, thinking he had arrived earlier than Mikaela. To his surprise, Mika was already sitting on one of the benches doing nothing.

"Mika!" He ran towards the blond, shouting his nickname. The slightly older one (by a few months) turned his sky-blue eyes towards Yuu, almost causing him to faint. How could Mikaela be so angelic and divine?

"Yuu-Chan?" Mika snapped his fingers to snap Yuu out of the trance he unintentionally caused. "Ah, sorry." He chuckled, scratching his head before noticing how Mika had dressed – a slightly fitted white shirt that didn't cling to his body but outlined his silhouette nicely, and white sweatpants with golden markings. His hair was down, just like the day before.

Yuu's face turned red, and he laughed a bit more. "Shall we? I saw on the app that there are screenings at 2:45 PM until 4:00 PM and another at 3:00 PM. Let's check the showtimes." He took Mika's hand, who blushed this time as he was dragged to the ticket machines.

Considering the time, they chose the 3:00 PM screening to have plenty of time to settle in and buy popcorn, seventy types of candy, and various snacks from the counter – just to feel sick afterward.

Yuu carried the popcorn and sodas, while Mika had some candies and snacks they had also ordered, not to mention the 5729262 candies he had stuffed in his pockets.

"Yuu, are you sure you don't want help?" The blond felt a bit guilty for letting Yuu carry everything alone. He looked like a penguin hugging those themed popcorn buckets and one-liter cups each.

The line seemed enormous, probably due to some highly anticipated sequel premiering today. However, Yuu wasn't interested since the last three installments of the franchise had been horrible, so he didn't bother getting excited about these sequels.

The blond stole the cups from Yuu's hands. "Mika!" The one with blue eyes took a sip of his soda. "What? You'll die from so much stuff." Yuu pouted and muttered some things that Mika didn't bother paying attention to.

They headed towards the cinema hall, and Yuu stole some popcorn from Yuu, whose protests were completely ignored by Mikaela... again.

"What's our seat?" The green-eyed one focused on the blond, who checked his pocket to ensure he had the correct seat numbers in mind. "H4 and 5." As soon as he heard the seat numbers, Yuu ran up the stairs, threw himself into the chair, unintentionally spilling a lot of popcorn and seemingly not even realizing.

Once they finally sat down, after a random woman caused a scene because her child wanted their buckets, and Yuu almost slapped the kid – stopping only because Mikaela resolved the situation by giving the child a pack of sour candies he didn't like but had bought two of each item at the candy counter – the emerald-eyed one, for some unknown reason, started burying his face in the buttered popcorn bucket.

"Yuu-Chan, what the hell is this?" The dark-haired one jumped in his chair and stared into the blond's soul; his eyes were dull, as if he had lost his soul (imagine Yuu's lizard-like eyes). "I don't want to get my hands dirty with butter; I'll mess up my glasses, and you can only clean grease with detergent." He said calmly and gave a somewhat creepy smile.

Great, Yuu was possessed by the Salt King again – as Yuu had a serious issue with salt, and he always over-salted everything, the orphans at the orphanage started saying he had a spirit in his body called the Salt King. This "possessed" state, which even he didn't understand, was when he was possessed by this being.

His head turned slowly back to the front while his smile still lingered.

"Yuu-Chan, do you want me to put the glasses on you later? I'll only start eating when the movie starts anyway." Yuu took his face out of the popcorn bucket, licked his nose to remove a stuck popcorn, and said, "Sure, the glasses are in my pocket." He raised his shoulder to make room for Mikaela to grab the 3D glasses.

Yuu had his mouth stuffed with popcorn, grabbing handfuls and shoving them into his mouth as if it were nothing. He also took out his phone once every three movie trailers. When Tepes looked to see what on earth he was noting, he was shocked to find a note in his notepad app that had 200 pages with random names, probably movies and series he wanted to watch.

His shock didn't go unnoticed by Yuu. "What's wrong?" The doubt was clear on Hiragi's face. "Why so many pages?" The one with sky-blue eyes pointed to the phone in Yuu's butter-covered hand. He had stuck his face in the popcorn bucket to avoid dirtying his glasses, but he didn't think twice about smearing his entire phone with butter. Go figure.

"Oh, the name of the note is pretty self-explanatory." He scrolled through his list and showed Mikaela the name of the note: "Movies and series to forget to watch." It was indeed quite self-explanatory. Yuu probably noted the movies and series he wanted to watch there and then forgot about them later.

"It's started!" The green eyes turned to the screen in milliseconds. Mika stared at him until Ichinose realized that something was missing when he heard Mika laugh and a plastic noise.

"Mika..." The blond was holding back from bursting into laughter in the no longer silent cinema. "Hi?" Yuu licked his fingers. "Am I forgetting something..."

The black-haired one blinked slowly, trying to remember what he had forgotten. It was on the tip of his tongue; he just couldn't force himself to remember.

"Yuu-Chan," Mika drew his attention, pulling him out of his thoughts and putting the 3D glasses on Yuichiro. "Seriously, did you manage to forget?" He pretended to look annoyed and then laughed at the pamonha face the other Hyakuya was making.

"Don't laugh!" The one with emerald orbs felt his face warming up and his heart racing with that laughter. Since he was little, Mika's laughter had made him feel this way – discomfort in the stomach, a strange warmth on his face. He wanted to know why, as only Mikaela did this to him.

The movie began with the introduction of the protagonist, an orphan with a tragic past who is insecure with herself and works in a relatively famous café.

Her life changed when a model she admired rushed into the shop. Despite being clearly stressed, the model was kind and friendly. She confided in the protagonist, entering the shop to evade her ex who had been tormenting her for years. They became close friends and exchanged contacts.

The romance between them progressed slowly and lovably, with some occasional meetings. The protagonist gradually improved – having been dragged to a psychologist by the model-

However, as they began to realize their feelings, the protagonist remained clueless and didn't pick up on all the obvious signals from the model – even accidentally – and that deeply irritated Yuu.

"Girl! She's into you, get a clue!" He whispered in a shout. "Yuu-Chan..." Mikaela laughed foolishly. He kind of understood; she didn't pick up the signals. It was clear she was a bit slow, so not realizing the other's feelings or her own was acceptable, or at least not forced to drag the plot.

What really annoyed the blond was the model being overly insecure. She understood the protagonist's signals but always thought it was just in her head. Every time she gathered the courage to confess, that courage disappeared the moment she saw the other's green eyes.

"Seriously? Again? The first time, the Gay Panic excuse was somewhat acceptable, but this is the damn fourth time!" Like the brunette, the blond whispered while shouting. "I found it funny." Yuu was still smiling after his laughing fit caused by the Gay Panics.

The movie was good, except for these small details they didn't like. The film ended with them coming out to the media, and the ex received a slap from the model.

As soon as they left the room, Yuu rushed to the bathroom. He drank all of his liter and a bit more of Mikaela's – who had a few meltdowns towards the end due to the indirect kiss, okay?

While waiting, a girl with slightly wavy, blue hair cut just above her shoulders poked Mikaela. "Miss, can I take a photo with you? You look a lot like the protagonist of the movie I just watched with my girlfriend!" Mika looked at the woman who was about 20 cm shorter than him. "I'm not a woman... but sure..." The girl widened her eyes but still hugged him and took the photo.

"Sorry for mistaking you!" After the photo, she apologized, and Yuu, who had seen it from a distance, came running towards them. "Mistaking what?" He appeared like a ghost with a neutral expression.

"Hi-Hiragi-San?!" Red orbs contracted; Yuu was relatively known – he was handsome and the adopted son of a wealthy family with scandalous parents, so people recognized his face.

Another woman, a bit taller than her, appeared after also leaving the bathroom. "Chess?" She called her girlfriend. "H-Horn!" The poor girl had tears in her eyes – let's say the Hiragi family wasn't known for being friendly. The blonde looked at Mikaela, who looked back at her.

"Aren't you Crowley's assistant at the Japan branch?" Yuu positioned himself next to Mika, staring at him. "Ah, Mikaela-Kun? What a surprise to see you here. Ferid told me you found out who your biological father is." She smiled at him kindly, and the other seemed to panic even more upon hearing Mika's name.

"Yes, yes, what a surprise to see you here." Mika smiled, and Chess buried herself in her girlfriend, murmuring and shouting something about being dead.

"What?" The brunette was lost in that conversation. Who were they talking about? Did they know each other? Why was the blue-haired girl crying?

"Oh, Yuu-Chan, Crowley is my uncle. There's a branch not far from here, and he's the owner since he's been living here for a few years." Something clicked in Horn; so, this was the "Yuu-Chan" Crowley complained about because Mikaela only knew how to talk about him.

"And it's a surprise that you're friends with Hiragi-San. You also came out of the cinema, right? What movie did you watch?" When his brain started working again, the brunette already smiled at the shorter girl. "That one about the model falling in love with the café attendant."

Bele detached her face from Horn's chest. "REALLY?! Us too! What did you think of the blonde?" She said excitedly to Yuu. "I found her very beautiful, but women are not really my type. On the other hand, that blond friend of the protagonist was VERY handsome!" Bele widened her eyes briefly before responding even more excitedly. "Yes!!! He's a hottie! And mind you, MEN are not my type." They both laughed in unison while the blonds watched them with passion.

"And Yuu and your little boyfriend?" Horn whispered, and it was possible to see a blush on the ears between the blond strands. "N-No! No, we're just good friends..." The shorter one let out a soft laugh and said goodbye to them, pulling her partner, who had already exchanged numbers with Yuu – they realized they had common tastes regarding movies (and people) – and bid farewell with a pout from her.

>《》◇《》<

They held hands and walked through the mall with no specific goal in mind.

Mikaela was filled with a mix of feelings and uncertainties. Yuu was the one who took his hand, but Mika used to grab Yuuchiro's hand and drag him around when they were younger. So maybe he was just doing what Mika used to do when they were kids? Or maybe he... NO! Absolutely not, Yuu was just a friend, even though he had conflicting feelings for him, the brunette didn't see him in that way...

Either way, why was he even thinking about this? It wasn't a good time to ponder his crush on the younger Hyakuya.

They continued aimlessly wandering around.

But something was bothering Mikaela. That lump in his throat, the tightness in his chest, the guilt that made him want to cry, but above all, the overwhelming desire to kiss and hug his Yuu-Chan as if he would lose him if he didn't.

He was losing himself in his paranoid thoughts again. They were the reason he didn't have a good night. I mean, Ichinose might be acting like everything was normal, but he knew it wasn't, not after almost kissing Yuu.

Yuu was probably a bit drunk last night. He had a glass of wine when Mika arrived on the balcony, who knows how many others he had already had! Mika almost took advantage of his drunk best friend! He was a terrible friend! Yuu probably didn't even remember it, so he was acting as he always would, but Mika was keeping it to himself.

Suddenly, Hiragi pulled Doji into a jewelry store?

"You proposed to me here when we were younger, remember?" Yuuchiro smiled and pointed to the showcase. "How could I forget?" Mikaela laughed along with him, but those negative thoughts made him want to cry.

"They still sell the ring you promised me!" Yuu laughed, pointing to an engagement ring with a gem matching the color of his eyes, surrounded by gold with black obsidian details.

"Is it still standing, huh?" Tepes' eyes widened, and his face blushed. "What's still standing?" Yuu wasn't serious, was he?

"Well, the promise you made to me here: 'if you don't find anyone by the time you turn 30, marry me, okay, Yuu-Chan?'" The brunette imitated the voice of his 12-year-old self surprisingly well.

"Okay, okay, if you're still willing to keep your promise when we're 30..." He forced a smile; his chest was hurting more and more...

Should he tell Yuu? Or should he do the same thing Yuu was doing and pretend nothing happened?

He was trying to push these thoughts away, he really was! However, they kept resurfacing with every subtle romantic gesture from the brunette.

A faint hope was rising, hoping that the negative thoughts wouldn't follow.

•●◇●•

After being dragged through the entire mall, the blond-haired Hyakuya offered to take the brunette to his house.

"Thanks, Mika. I would've been bored if I had to go all the way back alone." The other smiled, and he smiled back.

Something was wrong. Was Mika feeling unwell or something? He had been forcing a smile since they left the cinema. Did eating so much candy affect him? Was he trying to pretend everything was okay to avoid their encounter?

"Hey, Mika, is everything okay?" Yuuchiro looked deep into Mikaela's eyes, who returned the gaze. "...no..." He had to talk to Yuu about what he felt. He had to tell him. He had to talk about yesterday but also be honest about his true feelings for his Yuu-Chan.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? I shouldn't have bought so much candy!" The brunette gestured wildly. "No, it has nothing to do with the candy..." The captivating blue eyes diverted away.

"A-About yesterday..." Mikaela's face turned red, and the boy with emerald eyes blushed as well. Yuu was hoping Mika would never bring it up because he would absolutely combust.

"I...," Tepes sighed, "I don't think we can continue being friends, Yuu-Chan."

The eyes of the younger Hyakuya widened. Why? Why couldn't they continue being friends? Yuuchiro was about to invent an excuse about yesterday, like he was drunk or something, he just couldn't lose Mika! He couldn't!

"Because I... really like you that way." When he finally looked back into Yuuchiro's eyes, his expression was sad. "I like you, Yuu-Chan... no... I love you. Not as a friend or family, and I've been trying to pretend that I don't feel this way about you. But our almost kiss made me realize that I'm not being a good friend. I almost kissed you yesterday, and I'm sure you weren't completely sober. It hurts, and I'm being selfish now because it always hurts to know that you don't see me as anything more than a friend or family." He forced a smile after avoiding Yuu's eyes again.

"I'm really sorry. I'm being completely selfish now, I know that, I just... can't take it, it hurts so much, really..." Yuuchiro wanted to say something. He wanted to say he wasn't drunk, that he didn't see Mikaela as just a friend, that he loved him!

...he loved him. How had Yuu never realized this before? Mika was practically the center of his life. Everything he did reminded him of Mika; any hint of happiness reminded him of Mika. Whenever he was sad, he thought of Mikaela, and it always improved his mood.

He was so stupid not to have noticed this before. How had he never noticed?

How much he loved Mikaela...

When Yuu's body finally reacted, a black car, obviously expensive, stopped right next to them.

"My dad's here." Mikaela had asked his father to pick him up in front of Mahiru's residence since he would be returning with Yuuchiro. "Goodbye, Yuu-Chan..."

He went towards the car, and Hiragi froze again. He felt his eyes welling up. What should he do? The blond didn't want to be his friend anymore because of his feelings for the brunette, but the brunette reciprocated those feelings.

Should he tell Mikaela that he also liked him? Or should he just say that everything was fine and continue being friends? What the hell should he do?!

The only people he could think of asking for help were Shinya, Shinoa, and Mahiru. He quickly put his hand in his pockets, but the keys weren't there.

He searched all his pockets; none of them had the key. Did he forget? DID HE REALLY FORGET THE KEYS?! CRAP CRAP CRAP!

Great, now he had to call home or jump the wall. Jumping the wall would be faster; Shinya and Mahiru would either be fighting or making out with Guren.

He gave himself an impulse and clung to the top of the wall, then threw himself from there. If it weren't for some bushes that Mahiru insisted they should keep, he would have broken at least 2 or 3 bones with the fall.

He ran straight to the front door, which had a spare key under the entrance mat. He almost broke the door down, and Shinya, who was sitting in an armchair next to the sofa in the living room, jumped up.

"Oh my god, Yuu, what happened?!" He dropped the book he was reading and rushed toward his son.

Yuu closed the door. "...hm, don't worry, Shinya-San." Shinya held his son's shoulders. "How can I not worry when I see you crying like this?" The moreno's eyes widened.

Was he crying? Since when? Was it because of the fall?... Was it because of Mika...

"Ah," Yuuchiro laughed. "I forgot the key and jumped the wall, didn't even realize I was crying." The grizzled man furrowed his brow. "Yuu..." He dragged his son and threw him on the sofa, sitting next to him.

"Spill it, or I'll tell Guren."

"Oh?" The younger Hyakuya asked confused.

"I'll tell Guren that Mikaela made you cry."

"How do you know?!" The confusion increased even more. "So it was him?!?" He brought his father to his side again, and it was possible to hear clear anger in his voice.

"No no! Mika isn't to blame... maybe a little, but it wasn't on purpose!" The older one crossed his arms angrily. "Hmm?" He raised an eyebrow.

"He said he likes me..." Shinya jumped in place, but before saying anything, he recomposed himself and put on a fake angry expression that elicited a chuckle from Yuu before continuing his speech. "And he said he couldn't be my friend anymore, like, I don't know, he said it hurt him to know that I only saw him as a friend."

He hugged his own legs and lay on Shinya's chest, who was hugging him from the side.

"And he ran off when his dad arrived and didn't even let me say anything... I like him too! And he ran away without even- without-! I want to hit him and then myself for only realizing that I liked him now..." Shinya laughed. "Sorry, sorry, but did you only realize that you liked him when he said he liked you?" He caressed Hyakuya's hair.

"Yeah and no? Like, I always knew he was more than a friend, I just never understood and named it." He put his knees down and pouted. "What a beautiful moment, huh?" They both laughed. "Need a hand? I don't usually make alliances with Mahiru, but I can make an exception for you." He smiled gently.

"Thanks, Da-" Ah, crap, he did it again, almost called Shinya Dad... he was just taken by surprise with Shinya almost crying because of this-Sorry, I just got very happy. You can call me Dad; it doesn't matter. You're my little baby anyway!" He hugged Yuu again and started pinching his son's cheeks.

"Hmm..." Yuu felt embarrassed but happy with the situation.

《¤•♧•¤》

The moment Mikaela got into the car, he broke into tears, and his father practically threw the computer away to see what the heck was happening.

"Sorry, didn't mean to worry you, Dad... I just... I WAS A COMPLETE IDIOT! Telling Yuu that I don't want to be friends anymore?! He must hate me now. I was a selfish idiot." Shika Madu embraced his son. "I shouldn't have told him; I shouldn't have confessed! It would have been better to pretend everything was fine!" He clung to his father; it was still a bit strange, but Shikama Doji always did his best to be a good father to Mikaela.

"I don't think it would be better, son. Imagine if you hid that feeling forever? It would be horrible, wouldn't it?" The blond sniffed. "I don't know..." The grizzled man caressed his son's hair. "I just know I messed up. How am I going to face him again? I simply told him I couldn't be his friend anymore! Why did I say that?!?!?!" The younger Doji threw himself back and hit his head on the door, making a noise that sounded like he might have cracked his skull.

"Ow..." He cried this time, mixing the pain from hitting his head with his sadness and self-anger. "Paimon, go to the hospital!" Amber eyes stared at Mikaela with concern and panic. "Dad, I'm fine; it was just a hit. I'll put ice on it at home." The Tepes sat back down.

"Son..." Shika Madu wiped away his son's tears. "I don't want to intrude, but if we really go to the hospital, you'll have to cancel your appointment with the Hiragi. Traffic is terrible," Paimon (Shikama's assistant/driver/secretary) said politely.

"Tell them I'll be la-NO! Dad, I'm fine." Mika cut off his father's words. "Let's go home; it's just hurting a bit... please..." A look of doubt appeared on Shi's face, but in the end, he sighed and gave in. "Alright, let's go home." A pause. "Son, explain to me what happened with Yuu just now."

The blond explained the situation to his father.

"Dear, do you think YUUCHIRO would hate you for this? I knew about his existence even before knowing you were a bad son because of him. When I met that child, he made a monologue about how similar my smile was to yours and how wonderful you were. I found it adorable to see how much he liked his childhood friend, but I wanted to tell him to shut up because I couldn't stand hearing your name anymore. Do you really think someone like that could hate you?" Mika laughed, then started crying again, this time from laughter.

"That's so like him; he always started with monologues about anything he liked. I should have talked to him properly. I'M SUCH AN IDIOT!" The older one held his son's head protectively, as if to prevent him from hitting it again.

"You're not an idiot; you're a teenager. There's a big difference." The elder Doji handed a tissue to his son to wipe his nose and then reached for a bottle of water. "Baby, I don't want you dehydrating because of a boyfriend." Mika laughed a bit more.

"But what should I do? How should I talk to him?" Shika Madu put his hand on his chin and closed his eyes as if thinking. "I have no idea. How about we think about it while watching movies and stuffing our faces with popcorn?" He smiled at his son, who laughed like a silly child.

"Sure, Dad, and Monday." Mikaela rolled his eyes, as if not taking his father's offer seriously (he really didn't). "What about it? Can't I watch movies with my son just because it's Monday? And don't roll your eyes at me, young man!" The grizzled man pretended to be irritated while pointing a finger at his son in warning.

They laughed and hugged each other on the way back.
