Chapter Text
Joe stood up and stretched his body.
Nile: "What kind of ending is that?"
Joe: "What do you mean?"
Nile: "You can't end a story like that. What happened next?"
Joe smiled while scratching his beard.
Joe: "Well, I know you don't want to hear the part of Nicky and mine honeymoon because of how you look whenever I mention us kissing."
Nile tried to hide it, but she made a face.
Joe: "And Andy and Booker. They celebrated the football victory with the Danes. And now that I think about it, it might have been the only time Andy has taken an interest in football, but only because of the free booze."
Nile: "Yeah, okay, you are right. You told me about the wedding photo, so I guess you have earned the rest of the Berliner pfannkuchen."
Joe: "I sense a but is coming."
Nile: "But I have one last question, and then you can have your cakes. Are you still getting married like you talked about back then?"
Joe: "Yes, sometimes we do it alone, other times we invite people. It all depends on whether people have time."
Nile: "If I bring a box of Berliner pfannkuchen the next time, can I get an invitation for your wedding?"
Nile handed Joe the last three boxes, which he took, but before he could eat any Berliner pfannkuchen, his phone pinged.
Joe: "Sure. You're always welcome."
Joe scrolled through the text.
Joe: "That was Andy. We got our marching order."
Nile: "Okay, and they are?"
Joe: "Andy tells us to move our stuff and abandon this safe house for good. We are to leave for Bavaria. When we get there, I can tell you the story about that time Nicky punched a Nazi so hard that the Nazi first woke days after the 2nd world war ended."
Nile stared at Joe.
Nile: "Seriously? He did that?"
Joe nodded while smiling.
Joe: "He was defending my honour and..."
Joe looked at Nile, who was smiling.
Joe: "Nice try, Young Lady, but I think we should do what we have been told to do by the Lady with the labrys."
Nile: "It was worth a try. I'll get the van, so do you mind starting carrying stuff outside?"
Joe: "Sure thing, and you're doing the driving."
Nile: "Why?"
Joe: "Because I'm getting too old to drive around with whatever Booker has brewed together this time."
Joe held up a bottle with a yellow liquid while looking worried.
Nile: "I smell another story there. Be back in five minutes with the van, so you can tell me why you don't want to drive around with that."
Nile took her jacket and left. When Joe was alone, he took another round in the safe house while thinking about all the memories there were here. When Joe came to the room he had shared with Nicky, he looked at the wedding photo again. It was in this room they had had their fifth honeymoon between two missions when it became legal to marry in Germany. Joe thought about all the memories until he heard Nile calling for him. Then Joe closed the door to all the fun memories, and he couldn't wait to show Nicky their first wedding photo again.
