Chapter Text
It’s been a few days since Higuruma treated you to a wonderful night out. That night was one of the best dates you and he spent together in a while. He took you out shopping first, letting you pick out a few new outfits, jewelry, and whatever else your heart desired. He even picked out a few gifts for you beforehand, just a few pieces of clothing he thought would fit you nicely. After the shopping, he treated you to dinner at one of your favorite places. You both enjoyed not only the meal but also the conversations you had. And lastly, before the night was over, he brought you to his place this time, and you both watched a movie while embracing each other tenderly. Seeing how pleasant you looked throughout that day only made him desire you more, your presence, your words, your touch, all of you. The day after such a blissful night, your heart was still racing. You felt rejuvenated, as though every trouble you had no longer existed. You woke up a little later than usual in Higurma’s bed alone. He always worked early hours, so that was no bother to you. Thankfully, the clothes he brought you were similar to your other work clothes, so that's what you decided to wear. Quickly, you freshen up and get dressed in your new outfit. While you admired your new outfit in the mirror, you couldn't stop thinking of his reaction to it on you. Honestly, seeing his reaction to your new outfit was part of the reason you were so excited to go to work today.
Once you were at work, you started by getting the client files you were assigned. Exchanging small talk with a few of your coworkers before heading to Higurrmas' office. You were practically skipping down the hall to him, hoping to see him. Before entering his room, you knocked a few times, not wanting to startle or interrupt him.
“Hiro..?”
You peeked your head into the room and focused your attention on the surprisingly empty chair. Where is he? You ask yourself as you fully step into his office. He wasn’t there, everything on his desk was scattered like he was rummaging for something though. Maybe he had a trail today . You left his room and then headed back to your office. Throughout the day, you kept your eyes and ears out for him, yet he wasn’t there. He usually didn’t leave his office so it didn’t alarm you too much. Yet when it was close for you to leave, you went back to his office, and again, he wasn’t there. You went home for the night with a feeling of worry stirring in your stomach. Maybe it was a coincidence that every time you checked, he was elsewhere. You tried not to worry about it too much; you both had busy work days, so it wasn’t a big deal that you didn’t see him. Still, you texted him before you turned in for the night to make sure he was okay.
“I'm fine, don't worry, I had a last-minute court hearing today, and I’ll be busy for the next few days with them as well as trials.”
That was what he told you not too long after you messaged him. Hearing that made your worry disappear finally. You both chatted a little bit after that before you both had to get some sleep. Unfortunately for you, it wasn’t easy. It took longer to fall asleep this time around, being reminded of how hard it was on you when he was busy made you feel a bit anxious. But there wasn’t much you could do about it, you both had already talked about it, so what more could you do? Eventually, you fall asleep, but it doesn't last as long as you hoped. BRINGG!BRINGG!BRINGG! The sound of your alarm clock shook you out of your dreams quickly. Still feeling groggy and tired, you drag yourself out of bed and get ready for work. You threw on the same outfit you wore yesterday and rushed to work. Not only did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, but as soon as you entered the office, you had to work. No time for coffee or social interactions, just straight to organizing and running errands. That grogginess had yet to wear off, so you made a few mistakes here and there, which only annoyed you further. For hours, you worked nonstop with what felt like 5 minutes of sleep in you. It was tiresome, aggravating, and just downright unbearable. When you were blessed with a break, you wasted no time making yourself a piping hot cup of coffee. You sat in the break room and indulged in a fresh cup of coffee. A relieved sigh left your lips as your body regained its energy from the warm beverage and rested. It wasn’t enough to wake you all the way up, but it was enough to keep you going for a while. Soon, your break came to an end, and back into the chaos you had to go. Part of you wanted to hide out in the breakroom longer, but you knew you couldn’t. So you gathered the little energy you had and went back to your office. However, you weren’t aware of the surprise you were in for. As you went to reach for the doorknob, you noticed the door was already open. Confused, you push the door open slowly, only to be met by something unexpected...
“A bouquet…?”
You slowly waltz up to your desk where the large bouquet rests. It was a beautiful arrangement of flowers. 3 large sunflowers in the middle, then a row of red roses, followed by a row of clematis, hibiscus, and finally, a few honeysuckle plants and gladiolus scattered through the rows of flowers. You rested your hand on your chest as the other reached down to grab the little sliver of paper attached to the lush assortment of flowers. In cursive, the words “For my love~H” were written on it, and soon after, a familiar voice caught your attention.
“Do you like them? I tried to get some that reminded me of you.”
Higurama was waiting in the doorway, his body leaning against the door frame, waiting for your response. You whipped your head around after you lifted the bouquet into your arms. Seeing your surprised expression made a small smile creep onto his face. You were filled with surprise and awe.
“Hiro, you didn’t have to do all this..”
“But I wanted to, so I did.”
He slowly closed the distance between you both. A small flush of warmth covered your cheeks as he did so. He gave you another smile as he reached his hand out and brushed your cheek.
“I..I thought you didn’t want to be lovey dovery while we worked..”
“I know, but I wanted to see you before my trial. The clothes I got you look good on you, I knew they would...”
He added as his fingers stroked your cheek a few times before he pulled back and tucked his hands away in his pocket. Your smile grew in size from his gesture, the coolness from his palm mixed with the warmth of your skin sent shivers down your spine. But you didn’t complain. In all honesty, that’s all you wanted, just to see him, and you got it plus more. This interaction made your heart race, giving you a mood and energy boost. You lifted the flowers to your face to get a whiff of the wonderful flora scents before you spoke again.
“I love them. Thank you, Hiro.”
“Of course.”
He paused briefly, contemplating his next actions. Then he leaned in and planted a quick kiss on your cheek. You did the same, leaning in close to him and returning the kiss. He leaned his cheek towards you, happily letting you do so. A small hint of blush spread across his cheeks and nose. He then pulled back and let his eyes linger on your face for a few moments.
“I’ll text you later, okay? Try not to overwork yourself either, don’t want you to be asleep before I can talk to you again.”
It was hard to hide that tiredness, but after this, you felt like you could get through the rest of the day with no problem. You and he share a small laugh, and you assure him you wouldn’t. He waved bye to you and then exited your office, not without giving you one last look first. Once he was gone, you let out a small sigh and smelled the flowers again. The smell and thought behind these made you feel so much better. Now you had something to remind you of him when you felt a little lonely. His touch lingered on your skin, and his words still made your heart race. All day you wanted to see him, feel him, and hear him, and now that you got all of those things and more, you felt more than better. You felt loved and appreciated, and that was what you needed to get through the day.
