Chapter Text
It was a Wednesday afternoon at Rosemeadow High School, the music club (Jake Sterling, Hailey Austin, Zander Wickham, Luke Peterson, Milly Brooks, and Sean Everett) have finished another practice for the band competition that was coming up, Hailey walked over to Jake and said "Great work Jake." Jake smiled and said to her "Thanks, that was a good practice for the band competition, looking forward to more practicing with you guys."
"Yeah Jake," Hailey said, smiling at him as she said "Let's hope tomorrow we can do more practicing to improve and getting ready for the band competition." Jake Sterling nodded, he let go of the microphone and walked out of the room with Hailey Austin, Zander Wickham stared with skepticism and said "You two better not be doing anything stupid like holding hands or something."
Luke Peterson looked at his boyfriend with a bit of annoyance and said "Zander? They're not going to do anything stupid, they're just going to go home like we are. Let's go." Luke grabbed Zander's hand and the two began walking away from their instruments, leaving Milly and Sean behind as Luke looked behind and said "We'll see you two tomorrow, bye." Sean and Milly waved goodbye to Luke before he disappeared from the room with Zander, who seemed to be calm and accepted what his boyfriend was suggesting.
Sean looked at his laptop, grabbed it and placed it inside his bookbag where he noticed Milly looking away, zoning out of the room and standing at one place. Milly had her head down and she wasn't feeling right to go home, Sean walked over to her and asked "Aren't you going to go home?"
Milly shook her head, she took no as an answer, she doesn't want to go home and deal with her parents, at all. She hates her parents so much, she doesn't want to deal with them at all, that made her feeling very uncomfortable to go home today.
"Are you okay?" Sean asked, Milly looked at Sean and answered "Yeah, I'm okay... Just, I don't really want to go home right now, can we stay for a minute or two?" Sean didn't understand why Milly didn't want to go home, he just simply nodded and accepted what she want.
"Sure I guess..." Sean said, he looked at his watch and said "It's 5:30, I have to sweep so we can talk while I clean, how does that sound?" Milly smiled and nodded, Sean grabbed his broom and began sweeping the floor of the music room while Milly said "It's just that... I don't think I wanna go home today."
"Why not?" Sean asked, he was listening to her while sweeping the floor with his broom, who he calls him Mr. Broom for company and stuff. Milly lend against the wall of the music room and continued "Because I have some problematic parents... My mom and dad are very strict towards me on a daily basis, they expected me to do what they said and when I disobey... They intend to go too far like if they broke ever bone." Sean was surprised by what Milly have shared, her words were like sharp knives around the circle and Sean felt one of them on his heart.
"Oh..." Sean said, feeling some kind of feeling that wasn't described "What Else?" Milly looked at him as she continued "My parents were never good parents since I was young, they' have been strict towards me for years... Like if I mess up or disobey, they would grab those leather belts and hit me whenever they can, like a poor child being hit constantly, being belittle over again and I barely get any attention. So... I'm having some difficulty at home with bad parents and I wish I had someone to talk to."
Sean looked at Milly, who had tears in her eyes after explaining everything to Sean, she hasn't cried in a while so she felt a lot of emotions on her face and seeing herself cry made her feel like an abomination.
Sean left his broom onto the wall, making sure Mr. Broom was still and walked over to Milly, he said to her "Milly... I didn't you that you had a struggle life, I also have some problematic parents at home, they argued a lot and hearing your story made me think that you don't deserve to be in that home environment."
Milly looked at Sean, her tears streaming down her cheeks and said "I don't know if I should go home... I don't want to go home and deal with my horrible parents." Sean laid his hand on Milly's shoulder and said "You don't have to go home if you don't want to, I like to stay after school to avoid my arguing parents and not to mention that I have some problems as well."
"Like what?" Milly asked, looking confused at Sean before he confessed "Like I said, I have arguing parents who are on each other's throats all the time and they never really have time for me." Milly looked surprised about his home life, Milly said next to Sean "I really don't want to go home and deal with my parents telling me how they wished I was never born and stuff."
"I see..." Sean said "Say, do you want to stay and help me clean the music room?" Milly nodded, she learned how to clean anything because she was expected to do the chores at her home environment and she hates it but she would love to help her best friend.
