Chapter Text
It had been almost four and a half days since Henry called and picked up his worldview by the ass, spun it around, and gave it a sharp smack on the ass before blowing it totally of course. He had spent so much time thinking he was totally alone in this that this was a shock like no other to him.
Well, obviously he knew there had to be other queer royalty, but there was no way he could find out. It wasn’t like there was a club or anything. But now he had someone who could understand what he was going the and sympathize with him. Even better that he was someone Wilhelm knew and well— sort of trusted.
Now, He was holding his spare phone, the one Henry had called, in his hand debating on whether to press the call button or delete and block the number and binge watch whatever shitty new series Netflix had put out. He knew if he chose the latter he wouldn’t forgive himself.
All of a sudden, the decision was made for him when someone knocked on his door, startling him and causing him to press the call button.
“Shit shit shit”, he murmured under his breath as not have who ever was on the other side of his door hear him. “One second!” He called before throwing the phone and striding over to the door and opening it revealing one of his mothers personal attendants, this one, very obviously a new hire.
“Your Royal Highness” she squeaked out as Wilhelm looked at her as if to say “Go on”. “Her Majesty has requested you to join her for a late lunch at three o’clock and has asked me to remind you, her words not mine sir, ‘the phone works both ways’”
“Great anything else?”
“No Your Royal Highness”
“Ok thanks?”
“Alice”
“Thanks Alice, tell her I’ll be there”
Though their names and faces would never quite stick with him and he would end up embarrassing himself calling one by another name, Wilhelm still made an effort trying to remember the names of the palace staff. He knew that was at least more than the rest of his family had pretended to do.
Though he made of a show of accepting it, he saw his mothers invitation for what it really was. Wilhelm understood that his mother wasn’t asking for him to join her, she was commanding.
