Chapter Text
Lucifer abruptly ended the call with the sorcerer, feeling increasingly frustrated with every passing second of the conversation.
A few moments later, Diavolo sauntered into the room, his trademark goofy smile lighting up the otherwise dreary atmosphere. As soon as Lucifer laid eyes on the charming face of his beloved, he felt a wave of relief wash over him, easing the tension in his body. He watched with a mixture of amusement and fondness as Diavolo made his way over to the desk, plopped down onto the chair, and leaned forward, resting his elbows on the surface. The prince's gaze was fixed on Lucifer, his expression one of pure joy - a sight that never failed to warm Lucifer's heart.
Lucifer smiled. "Welcome back. How did it go?"
The reason why Diavolo was gone was because he realized that he had forgotten to bring some crucial student council documents with him to the Demon Lord's Castle. "Nothing out of the ordinary happened if you were wondering." Diavolo then changed his expression from a shit-eating grin to a pout. "But leaving you here all by yourself makes me worry."
Lucifer sighed. "How? You weren't even gone for ten minutes. Tell me, did you sprint the whole way?" His eyebrows furrowed.
Diavolo tilted his head. "No, I didn't. I just had Barbatos teleport me. I didn't want to waste time getting to and fro, so I compromised!" Diavolo's smile returned in full.
"Diavolo..." Lucifer shook his head. "You can't just ask Barbatos to use his power. It's a waste if it isn't important. Next time, you can just ask someone to get it for you if you don't wish to leave my side. But not Barbatos. He deserves a break." Lucifer smiled once Diavolo had nodded.
"Did you get a phone call?"
"Oh, yes. I did. How did you know?"
Diavolo chuckled. "Why else would you be near your phone? It's not a secret. But who called you? I thought you told your brothers to call only when there's an emergency?"
"Oh, don't worry. I did. But this wasn't one of my brothers. It was Solomon."
Diavolo was surprised, his eyebrows raised. "Oh, really? Why would he call? Why does he have your number? I thought you made him delete it?"
Lucifer rolled his eyes. "I did, but I also asked him to look after my brothers now and then and I gave him my number just in case he needs something." The tiny demon shrugged.
Diavolo nodded and hummed. "Why did he call?"
"To give me news about my," Lucifer motioned towards his body. " current situation."
"So, then what did he say?"
Lucifer sighed. "He said the powder that Mammon managed to spill on me was irreversible. But he also said I should return to normal a month after this dilemma happened. He was going to say something else, but I didn't want to hear his stupid voice any longer than I needed to." Lucifer let out a sharp sound with his tongue as he recollected the sorcerer's voice in his mind. Despite his immense power, he could not fathom how that mere mortal was able to irk him more than his brothers. In certain moments, the mere thought of that human would fill him with an unexplainable hatred.
Diavolo chuckled again. "Solomon gets under your skin quite often, doesn't he?"
Lucifer had to prevent himself from rolling his eyes. "You have no idea." He muttered.
"Huh? What was that?"
"Nothing." Lucifer cleared his throat. "But it seems like I'll be stuck like this for quite some time. I don't know how useful I'd be in this form but if you need any help, don't hesitate to ask me. I'd be happy to take on a workload if it means making your life easier."
Diavolo smiled softly, yet he remained silent. Lucifer raised a brow and looked at him. "Diavolo?" Lucifer's words were cut short as Diavolo interrupted him by placing a finger on the small demon's stomach and rubbing it in a slow circular motion. "D-Diavolo!" Lucifer's face turned bright red with embarrassment, while Diavolo couldn't help but laugh as he relentlessly tickled the poor demon. Despite his attempts to resist, Lucifer soon succumbed to the tickling and began to giggle uncontrollably. His giggles soon turned into adorable laughter that only made Diavolo's heart swell with fondness for his dear boyfriend. "Hahahaha! D-Diavolo! Haha! That-That tickles! S-Stop! Hahaha! Diavolo!"
Diavolo couldn't resist expressing his admiration for the cuteness of his little boyfriend. He was fascinated by the broad grin that Lucifer rarely displayed, which revealed his sharp fangs as he chuckled heartily. Diavolo decided to be kind and removed his finger from Lucifer's grasp, feeling content with the result.
Lucifer doubled over and clutched his stomach, shooting a furious look at Diavolo. Despite his efforts, it did not affect the demon prince. Not with how crimson red Lucifer's face was.
"You're... a real piece of work, Diavolo."
Diavolo sat beside Lucifer, chuckling softly as he gazed at him with a look of adoration. The warmth of Lucifer's presence had a calming effect on him, and he felt completely at ease. As he looked at his boyfriend, he couldn't help but feel grateful for their relationship. He felt incredibly fortunate to have someone like Lucifer in his life who brought him so much joy and love. How fortunate he is indeed.
