Chapter Text
As Rui was about to pack up for the day, he thought about earlier. About Tsukasa. He thought about how pretty he thought he was and how kind he is. Then he remembered his major fumble that happened earlier with him. He stops in his tracks and looks into the unknown as he relives that horrifying moment, questioning why he did that.
“Oh. my. God. Oh my god. Why did I do that…” Rui says to himself. “I hate myself..” Yep, Rui’s back to his normal self again.
Rui takes a couple of moments, just thinking about it, he didn’t even hear someone else coming in
.“Rui?- Are you-”
“Huh?-” Rui looks back up, realising Nene arrived. The realisation sinks in, as he was brought back to reality and apologised. Nene was a regular that came to the shop very often, usually coming around closing time so she could talk to Rui and walk back to their apartment together.
“What did you do this time?” She asked Rui and sighed, she read him like a book, she knew something was wrong.
“I made a major mistake…” Rui says and face planted into the counter. Nene looks at Rui for a couple of seconds then tries her best to comfort him and place her hand on his head.
“So… what did you do?” She asked. She’s trying her best to comfort him but she sucks ass at it.
“So there was this pretty guy…”
“Mhm…”
“He asked me for a Venti… and I forgot what a Venti was.”
“...Rui. You work at a coffee shop.
”
Rui hit his head once more as Nene sighed at him. Then Rui spoke again.
“Exactly… I had Akito correct me… and the customer was so nice too!! Plus.. he’s really pretty… I want to see him again…”
“...When was the last time you slept?”
“Uhm… I think-”
“Yeah get some sleep Rui. You desperately need it.”
“I don’t need to sleep.”
“You told me 2 times already that the customer is pretty, you’re forgetting that you said stuff already. Get some sleep.”
Rui sighs and lifts his head up off the counter and walks out of the service counter. He then walks up to Nene and replies.
“Maybe I’ll get some sleep, If i can finish this one little project-”
“RUI.”
“Yes mam.” Rui says and begins to walk out of the coffee shop.
“HEY!!- GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE AND HELP ME CLE-”
And Rui shuts the door on Akito.
The walk back home was almost normal. Nene usually talks about her day and how it went. Rui usually just shuts up, Mainly because he’s too tired to care or pay attention. Now, he started to talk a tiny bit more about his day and Tsukasa… and he fell flat on his face from tripping on his own shoelaces. Nene notices this change in Rui. It feels odd that he’s talking about something else, or even talking to the walk back to their apartment at all. But, she feels like it’s a good change for Rui, but it’s not really for her ears and attention span.
A couple hours later when they arrived at their apartment, Nene made sure Rui went to sleep, taking all of his tools and other stuff to her room so he can’t secretly work on it when she’s asleep. As Rui finally decides to go to sleep, he lies down in his bed, feeling calm. Then he remembers his mess up again and cringes. His eyes shoot wide open, filled with energy and starts rolling on his bed, and sometimes kicking his feet.. That's really going to haunt him for the rest of his miserable life.
