A detailed retelling, festival food, and a date..
That’s what she had promised you if you had stayed put.
She even got you a dove pin, perfect for you because you were her only peace in this world.
You didn’t break the promise,
But she wished you did.
You stayed at the docks, continuing your work but when she saw the colossal titan appear at the docks a strangled cry of agony left her.
She felt as though a knife had been twisted into her heart.
In her efforts to keep you safe, she put you in horrible, horrible danger that even titan shifters would have trouble dealing with
She couldn't focus on the fight, not when she had no idea what happened to you.
Her men. She trusted them and would protect them under usual circumstances but now, they were were keeping her from you
And she hated them for it.
“No”, She thinks as her head peers up at Eren
She hates him
“Kill the founder.”
She instructs her men as she turns to position where she could attack.
Eren would pay for this.
Or at least that's what she thinks before she passes out, the fire and other injuries getting to her.
She awoke a few hours later. Her men were downed and as much as she wanted to grieve for them, she couldn't bring her mind away from the feeling that you might be there.
With everything she has left in her, she sprints to the docks.
When she gets there she can feel her hope draining and being replaced with despair.
The docks now resembled a bomb testing ground, casualties littering the area.
“Dove? Dove please!” She cries out.
Every minute she spends there is spent searching for you and everytime she sees your h/c her heart swells with anxiety mixed with hope but is left disappointed she realizes it's not you.
as she surveys the area a group of survivors, all huddled around someone catches her attention.
As she gets closer she stops.
“Dove?” She asks softly, her voice breaking
It's you, lying down against the wall, your hair moving with the wind.
But it's your eyes that made her heart stop.
They no longer held the vibrancy she came to know and love no, now they were dull.
She quickly rushes to your side
“Dove? Dove please! I can still tell you about the good things, the food and I got you this pin-” She begs, her grip on your cold arm tightening.
The survivors try to get her off but she won't leave you, not again.
“Please, PLEASE” She begs as she kneels beside you.
She doesn't even realize she was crying until she feels the cold air hit her wet face.

As the weeks go by and plans for revenge move forward, she fronts it.
Her usual soft smile was gone but there was one new thing that adorned her.
The dove pin.
Placed on her uniform right above her heart.
