Chapter Text

He awoke in the late afternoon, alone in the large bed. He couldn't move, his mind and body reeling from his disorienting morning. He did not feel the warmth of his wife next to him, making his heart drop. His mind plagued him with lies of how she had left once again, breaking her promise. She wasn't coming back this time, she hated him now… tears rolled down his face As he mustered the strength to sit up, preparing to come to terms with the second loss of his wife. His face flushed gold, as he brought his hands up to his face to wipe away the wetness on his cheeks, only to part his fingers revealing his wife with a tray of breakfast, a confused expression on her face.

His entire body heaved with relief at seeing her face, as she set down the breakfast in order to bring her hands under his chin, using her thumbs to wipe his tears, whispering “I'm here baby, I'm here”

Lucifer felt absolutely disgusted at his own weakness. He couldn't even be apart from her for 5 minutes without sobbing like a child. Grumbling “m’sorry” he regretfully lifted his face out of her hands, sitting up in bed more.

Quickly rising caused the blood to rush to his head, making it throb and forcing him to flop back into the gentle arms of his wife, whos fingers found the nape of his neck, stroking it.

His trembling slowed, his tears drying up on her silk blouse. They wouldn't talk about it, He preferred it that way.

Lucifer felt like hell. The panic of Lilith's disappearence had distracted him from the ache all over his body, the rough pain in his throat, and the squall in his stomach. Suddenly gaining awareness of this made him start heaving again, rapidly pushing himself away from Lilith, the thought of throwing up on her again horrifying him.

The feeling subsided after a few dangerous heaves, not quite pushing his stomach far enough to actually expel anything. He sat hunched over the bowl, shivering in the air conditioned room.

Lilith had slid back to him, not holding him from the back, using her long nails to massage his back. After the heaves stopped completely she pulled him upright, propping him up on the copious pillows in their bed.

“Can you keep some toast down right now?” Her voice was sweet and deep, as she slid the breakfast tray over to him, a plate of buttered toast and strawberries.

His night of vomiting had expelled what little food was already in him, and he was starving. He inhaled the meal as Lilith watched him, rubbing his leg through the covers. Once finished, he fell into the soft mass of pillows, sinking down like a stone in a river.

He motioned with his hands to Lilith for her to come sleep with him, and she happily obliged him, wrapping her arms tightly around his small frame, her hands searching all over his body to find a nice place to rest. He sighed into her shoulder, feeling better. Not great, but at least a little better.
