Chapter Text
“So, what’s between you and the Radio Demon?”
Vox suddenly froze at the question, straightening his back. Velvette was standing in front of him, arms crossed.
Well, it was just a matter of time before the other Vees found out about their relationship, and he was glad Velvette was the first rather than Valentino as he didn’t know how the moth would have reacted to that information.
“We are dating” Vox spat out without much thought.
He was expecting a reaction but didn’t imagine Vel would have started laughing at him
“Dating? You and Bambi?”
She laughed as if that was the funniest joke she had ever heard. That did irritate Vox
“Well, yes? What’s so funny about it?!” the TV demon frowned and raised his voice
“Oh I’m sorry it’s just… I didn’t imagine the strawberry pimp was your type”
“Just because I’ve been with Valentino doesn’t mean my type is people like him”
Velvette got comfortable on an armchair, still facing Vox, she expected this to become a long conversation.
“How long has it been?”
“Three weeks”
“Three weeks?! No way! I would have noticed much earlier”
Vox listened in silence
“Come on, I get that Alastor is not like Val but you two aren’t exactly… affectionate”
“Yes we are”
“When was the last time you kissed?”
Vox mumbled something unintelligible, looking down at the floor
“What was it?”
“W-well… we haven’t kissed yet ”
“YOU HAVEN’T KISSED ONCE IN THREE WEEKS?!?!” Vel jumped in her seat
“We didn’t have the right occasion”
“Oh lord, what then, you don’t even hold hands?”
Vox looked the other direction
“You got to be kidding me! Are you two really dating?!”
“Of course we are!”
“Doesn’t seem like it to me”
Vox felt attacked, he knew Velvette was right and his relationship with the Radio Demon was pretty uncommon but he didn’t want to admit to himself that the thing bothered him. And he surely didn’t want to admit it to Velvette.
“It’s just that Alastor is a little touch repulsed” he tried to justify.
“A little? I accidentally touched his arm once and he threatened me”
“Well, he just needs time to get used to those sort of things”
Velvette raised an eyebrow
“Is he aware you two are dating?”
“What kind of question is that? Of course he knows!”
“If you say so…”
There was a moment of silence as Velvette evaluated the situation
“Does Val know about you two?”
“Valentino shall never know about this. He’s gonna get mad”
“Yes, he will…”
“So you won’t tell him a thing, understood?” static formed around him
“Yeah, yeah, I won’t. Well, it’s not like yours is an actual relationship anyway”
“Vel!!” he was pissed at the insinuations his friend kept making
“Come on, you know it’s true. Seems to me like that radio freak is just playing with your feelings”
“I won’t let you say those things about him, It’s my boyfriend you are talking about!”
“It’s not my fault if your boyfriend is like that”
Vox stood up, his screen buzzing from anger
“You should talk with him. You can’t become a nun because he doesn’t want to touch you-” Vox’s screen glitched in anger as he raised his hand and slapped his friend
“OUCH! FUCK, VOX!”
“I won’t let you disrespect him like that!” Velvette had never seen the TV demon getting angry like that, and never he had hit her in all the years they knew each other.
“I’m just trying to help you, you can get so much better demons than someone that doesn’t even want to kiss you. It’s not good for your circuits to-”
“I’m. Fine” he snapped
“Alright then. Do whatever, I don’t care!”
She walked away furious, slamming the door behind her so hard that the walls shaked.
Once Velvette left, Vox let himself fall on the couch, holding his screen between his hands. He couldn't believe what he had just done but when Vel said those things about Alastor he had stopped reasoning. How could she say such things about the man he loved? For once in his life he felt happy being with someone and his best friend was trying to sabotage his relationship. What was even happening?
He sighed and tried to get a grip of himself and the situation. Velvette was mad but there wasn’t any risk of Valentino noticing, the cunt always only thought about himself. Still Vox didn’t feel good about the whole thing.
He decided that he would have proved Velvette wrong by catching up on all he and Alastor hadn’t done so far. He took his phone and texted Alastor, which was now saved on his phone as “Boyfriend” followed by a heart emoji. He asked the deer to go out in the weekend, at the V tower and added that he would have cooked something for him, or better, he would have gotten someone to cook for him, as he had no idea how to cook, but that wasn’t something Alastor needed to know.
Making his boyfriend come at the V tower seemed to him like a great idea to make sure that Velvette would have seen that his relationship was doing great, unlike what she thought. The only flaw of his plan was Valentino, Vox had to make sure that he would have been out all night that day but that was fairly simple, it was enough to offer him the chance to go to some luxurious party and pay some whores to entertain him all night. It would have been expensive but it was worth it if it meant that Val would have left him and Alastor alone.
The plan was set, he only needed Alastor to confirm he would have come. So he got comfortable and waited for an answer. And waited. And waited some more.
What was taking Alastor so long?! He started to become anxious at the idea that he was purposefully ignoring him, maybe Velvette was right and all Alastor wanted to do was play with his feelings and this was the proof of that and he hated him and and.
And he finally replied: “ok.”
Ok. Alastor had said ok to going out with him! His mind slowed down and calmed. Why did he even doubt him? Velvette had only put poison in his mind and he almost fell for it.
The plan for the weekend was flawless and Velvette would have seen how lovey dovey they actually were and would have changed her mind, he was certain.
