Chapter Text
“Alright, you boys better behave for Hao and Hanbin while I’m away. No funny business, okay?” Taerae’s mother said while directing her gaze towards Gyuvin.
“Of course mum, we always behave!” Taerae said with a big smile.
“I mean it”, she said seriously while holding onto both of Taerae’s shoulders, “keep out of any trouble little duck.”
Taerae heard a snicker from behind him.
“Mum I told you not to call me that in front of Matthew”, he said quietly through gritted teeth.
“Aw, is our little duck going to have a little temper tantrum?” Gyuvin teased.
This prompted his aunt to give him a quick slap on the back of the neck.
“Oww, what was that for?” Gyuvin complained.
“Be nice to your younger brother Gyuvin, or your aunt will be not so nice to you! Now apologise to Taerae.”
“Sorry that you’re the favourite Tae Tae”, Gyuvin smirked before quickly running away.
“OH you’re dead”, Taerae shouted before running after him.
“Ricky, Matthew…” Taerae’s mum looked at the two boys in front of her with regret that they weren’t her own son and nephew, “I’m counting on you two to make sure nothing explodes or gets broken while I'm away, you can manage that, right?”
“Of course auntie”, Ricky said with an innocent smile.
Hm why am I not convinced by that? Taerae’s mother thought to herself.
“Okay, Hao and Hanbin will be here in about an hour but I need to leave now to catch my flight…” Taerae’s mum continued while looking at her watch.
“GYUVIN! TAERAE!” She suddenly shouted after hearing a massive scream coming from upstairs, “come downstairs right now!”
Taerae rushed downstairs first, presenting his hand to his mum.
“Look at what that little shit did to me, I think my finger’s broken mum!” Tarae complained.
“Auntie, Taerae is making that up! He hit his own hand against the wall while trying to throw a beanbag at me!” Gyuvin said as he rushed into the room after Taerae.
Taerae’s mum grabbed both of them by the wrists and pulled the boys in front of her, before giving them a hard flick on the forehead.
“Ouch”, they both groaned.
“I’ve told Hao to call me the moment any of you misbehave and I’ve let them know that they can give out any punishment that they think is suitable.”
“We promise we’ll be on our best behaviour!” Matthew said seriously.
“Thank you Matthew”, Taerae’s mum said affectionately while ruffling his hair.
“Okay, I really am leaving now!” She said as she began picking up her bags in a rush, “I love you all very much.”
She quickly gave them all a kiss on the forehead before leaving out the front door as the boys waved goodbye.
“Finally!” Gyuvin said after the door had closed, looking mischievously at Ricky, “Freedom!”
“Didn’t you say you still had a bunch of school work to do, Gyuvin?” Matthew questioned.
“That’s hyung to you Matthew, and I don’t know what you mean!” He replied as he walked out of the room with Ricky, “hey Rick, that massive paddling pool with the slip ‘n slide you ordered is arriving today right?”
Taerae rolled his eyes towards Matthew. “If we get into trouble it’s going to be entirely their fault.”
“True… But maybe we should have some fun too?” Matthew said while grinning. “Wanna help me make a cake?”
“I couldn’t think of anything I’d rather do less Matt…” Taerae replied while being dragged towards the cupboard by his boyfriend.
“Great!” Matthew smiled broadly.
…
“Babe, why does it look like there’s smoke coming from your aunt’s house?” Hao questioned concernedly once he caught sight of the building.
“Oh those absolute idiots, it hasn’t even been an hour yet”, Hanbin groaned as they pulled up into the drive and got out quickly.
Hanbin rapidly unlocked the front door.
“MATTHEW! TAERAE!” He shouted from the hallway.
“Fuck, your brother and cousin are here already, we’re dead meat Tae”, Matthew whispered worriedly to Taerae as they tried to contain the smoke coming out of the oven.
“It’s fine let’s just sneak out and blame it on Ricky and Gyuvin”, Taerae replied quickly.
“Oh really, Taerae?” Someone said from behind him as they grabbed the collar of his shirt tightly so he couldn’t run away.
Taerae turned his head slowly to be met with the piercing stare of his older brother.
“Hi gege, fancy seeing you here, what a lovely surprise!” Taerae said, smiling innocently.
Hao let go of his brother’s shirt and pushed both of the boys out the way to grab the burnt cake out of the oven.
“How did you manage this then?” Hao sighed as he opened the back door and threw the big black rock outside.
“Um we may have just gotten a little bit distracted”, Taerae replied sweetly.
“Matt, do you have anything to say?”
“Uh… Sorry!” Matthew replied happily.
“Come here both of you!” Hao said as he grabbed both of them by the ear and marched them into the hallway where Hanbin was bringing their luggage into the house.
Hanbin looked at the state of Matthew and Taerae and let out a big laugh.
“Guess you two haven’t changed since the last time I saw you!” He chuckled.
“Bin-ah, you should see the mess in the kitchen. I don't know why we agreed to stay with these two…”
“Because you love us”, Matthew said while scrunching his face together into a big smile.
“That’s cute”, Hanbin said while pinching Matthew’s cheeks.
“You know what I was thinking about the other day Matt…” Hanbin started.
“Hm, what?” Matthew questioned.
“I was thinking about how, when you two were at uni, Taerae drank alcohol thinking he was an adult, but you drank alcohol with the knowledge that you were still underage and your parents have no idea that you stole the drinks from their pantry.”
“Oh-” Matthew began, ashamed.
“So I hope that you’ve got all your baking out the way now ‘cause you won’t be going back into the kitchen again while we’re here apart from to clean it!” Hanbin stated.
“I got you…” Matthew said dejectedly.
“Hey, don’t blackmail my boyfriend like that!” Taerae stepped in.
“Don’t even start little bro”, Hao said while giving his brother a challenging stare. “Also Tae, I’ve got some things to talk to you about so once you and Matthew have finished cleaning up the kitchen come and find me, okay?”
“Fine”, Taerae huffed before leaving to the kitchen.
“Where’s Gyuvin and Ricky by the way?” His cousin asked as he followed them into the kitchen.
“Dunno, haven’t seen them”, Taerae muttered.
“I think they might be in the back garden”, Matthew said.
“Alright, I’ll go look for them as soon as I’ve unpacked all of mine and Hao’s things.”
Once they’d finished cleaning up the kitchen and most of the smoke had gone, Taerae went to go and find Hao.
“Hey Tae - you guys finished already?” Hao asked once he saw his younger brother walk into the living room.
“Yea, there wasn’t even that much mess!”
“Whatever you say… Anyways, have you seen the news?” Hao asked as he showed Taerae a news article on his phone. "Disgraced President of China - Affairs, Child Neglect and Corruption.
“Oh, are we in it?” Taerae questioned.
“Yep see here, there are photos of us too.” Hao said as he scrolled down to the section mentioning them. "Zhang Hao, 22 Kim Taerae, 16 - The former president’s handsome sons who were both emotionally and physically tortured by him, completely dissociated themselves from the former president and are now living normal lives in South Korea with their family."
“At least everyone knows what a disgusting man he is now”, Taerae said sourly.
“Yeah, and we’ll never have to worry about him again.” Hao said with relief.
“Taerae…” Hao started seriously. “I just wanted you to know… That finding out that you were my brother is the best thing that’s ever happened in my life.”
Taerae looked taken aback at his brother’s confession.
“Even better than meeting Hanbin?” Taerae smirked.
“Watch yourself”, Hanbin laughed as he walked into the living room.
“You know Tae, you share the DNA of both me and Hao, you're basically like our child.” He chuckled.
“Eww, don’t talk such nonsense”, Taerae said as he got up and hurried out of the room.
Hao and Hanbin looked at each other in amusement.
“Did you find the other two troublemakers?” Hao asked his boyfriend.
“No, I was going to go look for them, are you coming with?” Hanbin asked.
“Might as well”, Hao replied as he got up from the sofa and followed his boyfriend out of the backdoor.
Hao’s jaw dropped as soon as he saw what was going on in the back garden.
“RICKY!!! GYUVIN!!!” Hanbin screamed.
Matthew and Taerae hurried out once they'd heard the scream, to be met with the giant waterpark that had been created in their back garden.
“This is great”, Matthew laughed before quickly shutting up after his boyfriend pinched his arm.
“YOU BOYS ARE SO GROUNDED!” Hanbin screamed, the veins on his forehead almost popping.
Matthew and Taerae started giggling together at the sight of it all, while Hao tried to calm his boyfriend down.
“Isn’t this great!?” Ricky shouted back through a cheesy grin as he launched himself down the slip 'n slide.
“Come and join us Hanbin hyung!” Gyuvin said gleefully.
“Oh dear... Let’s go inside so we don’t get in the way of Hanbin's wrath”, Taerae whispered to Matthew.
“Good idea cutie”, Matthew said, before grabbing hold of Taerae’s soft hand and following him inside.
