Chapter 8: Walking

Summary:

Tommy continues to walk along the same path, seemingly to Ranboo? He encounters many interesting things along his way, including an unfunny and violent bird, a personal ad on a fishing pole, and again Niki and Wilbur, who tell him about this mysterious person called Techno.

Chapter Text

Tommy walked along a serene & snowy path, practically shivering in the cold.

After a little walking he came to a shining yellow light glowing near a bush. It reminded him of the swirls on a lolly. “What could that be?” Tommy wondered aloud, taking the light in his hands.

Suddenly, as soon as he touched the light, a new feeling swelled through him. It made him feel like he could take on the world, conquer any obstacles obstructing his path as long as he tried long enough- the feeling wasn’t confidence, though… it could only be described as determination.

Tommy felt amazed at this newfound feeling… with this new wave of determination, he kept walking on the path.
Taking an upwards turn, he came across a fishing pole fixed in a river with nobody holding it. Eyeing it suspiciously, he reeled in the fishing pole.

On the hook there was a piece of paper. Displayed on the piece of paper was a creepy picture of a monster, with a number saying to call it.

“Ew.” Tommy said, a gross expression crossing his face as he discarded the note. “Gross…” he ran back the way he came.

Suddenly, Tommy saw Niki and Wilbur standing before him in the distance, conversing.

“So, as I was saying about Techno…” Niki stated enthusiastically, before quickly noticing Tommy’s presence and turning around, Wilbur doing the same. They switched between frantically looking at Tommy and looking at each other for some time, back and forth, back and forth, faster and faster each time.

Eventually, they both turned their backs to Tommy, and Niki whispered, “Will! Oh my god!!  Is that.. a human??!!”

They looked back at Tommy. “Uhhh…” Wilbur said. “I think that’s a rock.”

“What the fuck?!” Tommy exclaimed. “I’m not a-” he realised he probably shouldn’t’ve talked, quickly shutting up.

“Oh my god!!” Niki said, appalled.

“Is…is that a human..?” She whispered to Wilbur.

“Yes.” Wilbur whispered back, his tone slightly irritated.

“OH MY GOD!!” Niki yelled, ecstatic. “WILBUR! I FINALLY DID IT!!! TECHNO WILL… I’M GONNA…” She beamed brightly. “I’LL BE SO…POPULAR! POPULAR! POPULAR!”

Tommy found this loud, repetitive talk quite annoying.

“AHEM!” Niki cleared her throat. “Human! You shall not pass this area! I, THE GREAT NIKI NIHACHU, WILL STOP YOU!”

“Go ahead and try, bitch.” Tommy scoffed.

“I will then capture you! You will be delivered to the capital, and then…! I’m not sure what’s next…anyway! Continue if you dare!!”

Tommy walked forward without hesitance. Whatever. This ‘Niki Nihachu’ was cutely immature, but he didn’t believe any of her childish threats.

“I’ll keep an eye on you!” Wilbur said, taking Niki’s hand and sprinting away with her into the distance.

Soon after, Tommy’s phone began to ring. Confused, he took the phone out of his pocket.

“Hey.” It was Wilbur. “Is your refrigerator running?”

“The fuck?”

“No? Ok, I’ll send someone over to fix it. Thanks for letting me know. Good communication is important.”

“Weird.” Tommy said, continuing to stroll forward.

Suddenly, something jumped out of the bushes at Tommy.

“Holy shit!” He exclaimed, now confronted by a cool-coloured bird. It had a scary beak and was very tall.

Tommy tried to make a joke to lighten the mood, as it seemed the bird was ready to attack. “What’s with the cold…shoulder?” He said nervously, backing away.

“I’ve heard that one.” The bird said, before throwing circles of ice at Tommy!

He dodged them as much as he could, but one hit him in the face, causing a long gash to open on his cheek. “Ow!” He said, whipping out his stick. “Okay, that’s enough!” Tommy struck the bird violently with his stick, scratching its beak.

The bird let out squawk of pain, doubling down on its attacks.

Tommy, now tired of dealing with this stupid bird, decided to make a quick escape as to save time and energy.

Tommy ran away, his footsteps crunching loudly in the snow.
