Chapter Text
It had arguably been a slow day in the Seventeen dorms, with most, if not all of the members going off to do their own things.
As per usual, Woozi was stuck in his studio with S.Coups working on some rap lines, while Hoshi went off with Dino to practice some new dances. Wonwoo was showing Joshua upstairs how play his latest favorite a video game. Seungkwan had taken Vernon out so they could get some food at a local cafe.
This left only Minghao, Mingyu, Jun and DK in the house. Jeonghan had decided to leave Minghao to his meditating, especially after that last encounter, not wanting to feel seen again. He had already teleported (at least he thinks that what humans called out, Angel's had their own term but teleported sounded cooler to him) from place to place checking on each member. He had just come back to the dorms from checking on S.Coups and Woozi, when he saw three members in the kitchen.
It seemed like Mingyu had started boiling some ramyun, stalking 30 packages on the counter. Even after about a year, the amount of food he saw simply disappear was astonishing. Either way, Jun and DK had joined him, mostly just watching Mingyu fish around for stuff to add and chat.
"What were you thinking of adding Gyu?" asked DK as he passed the boiling pot.
"Well, we have some mushrooms and carrots that the manager bought last week that I plan on using ... Oh! Jun can you grab the gochujang while you're there?" Mingyu asked as Jun passed the fridge.
"Sure," Jun replied as he grabbed his grapefruit drink and the first gochujang container he saw. "Carrots and mushrooms too? I see some kimchi leftover if you want that."
"Uh yeah, that'd be great, thanks," Mingyu replied, too busy getting out his other kitchen supplies to notice what Jun had put down on the counter behind him.
So far, everything seemed to be going well for the chef in the kitchen. Jeonghan decided that it was safe to leave the boys to their own devices for a bit and transport to how Hoshi and Dino were doing in the practice room.

Back in real life, Mingyu had started preparing a batch of kimchi since he had only done it once or twice. Wanting to match his mother's recipe, he was going back and forth between his phone and the ingredient all around him on the floor. The sound that broke him out of his trance was the sound of the boiling stew for the ramen overflowing.
"YAHH! DOKYEOM! JUN HYUNG! COME STIR THE POT, HURRY!" shouted Mingyu, as he felt too trapped by the pile of kimchi prep around him.
PATTER PATTER THUMP THUMP were the only sounds heard before DK came crashing into the kitchen trying to stir the pot. He kept turning and looking around the counter.
".... Dokyeom... the spoon is on your left behind the bowl," said a nearly disappointed Mingyu staring at his friend from the sidelines.
"I knew that... just wanted to make sure you were paying attention is all," DK quickly retorted back.
"Sure," chuckled Mingyu, going back to his kimchi, making. "AH AH AH, grab the pot holder first or else you're gonna burn your fingerprints off."
"I knew that too..." pouted DK, going on to stir the pot. "Did you want me to add anything else right now?"
"Oh yeah, um, put in three scoops of gochujang that Jun-hyung put on the counter. Then turn the temperature up a little higher."
DK took a fresh spoon and put in three scoops like he was told, but decided that a little more wouldn't hurt, besides it was the regular gochujang. Hmm, ok maybe one more for good measure, DK thought, turning up the heat and closing up the kimchi. He then set the towel down on the adjacent burner so it could hold the spoon.
"There. Ooh, let me help you with the kimchi," DK said, excitedly paddling over to Mingyu on the floor and joining him.

10 minutes had gone by with Mingyu and DK being preoccupied with not getting red paste all over the nice white carpet of the living room (Seungcheol would kill them for sure). Meanwhile, the kitchen had been left to its own devices, doing much more than boiling the contents in the pot. It had turned out that the burner DK turned up was not for the pot, but for the adjacent one... the same one that he had put the towel on. And it had decided to start catch a flame.
At that same moment, Jeonghan had decided to teleport back to the dorms, only to find the two men preoccupied while a fire was starting in their kitchen. Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit. Jeonghan thought as he ran through what he could do to get someones attention before things got worse. JUN! That's right Jun is still here, now I just need him to get here.
After teleporting to Jun's room, using telepathy, Jeonghan made Jun think that he needed a snack. I feel hungry, I should get a snack. Dinner shouldn't be done for a while so something small wouldn't hurt, he made Jun think. So, instinctively, Jun got up to go to the kitchen.
********************
As if by coincidence (which it wasn't), Jun had walked in right at that very moment to grab a snack, only to be met with a towel on fire.
"YAH!!! YOU IDIOTS THERE IS A FIRE HERE!!" Jun yelled in a panic to his members.
"WHAT?!" The two men shouted, rushing over.
Sure enough, just as Jun had said, there was a fire. The blaze had started spreading, almost reaching onto the counter on the right.
"WATER, WATER! DK GET A POT! JUN HYUNG CLEAR THE SINK!" Mingyu shouts from the top of his lungs while grabbing the now 80% black towel (it used to be a very pretty shade of green mind you) with grill tong.
DK and Mingyu absolutely drown the towel in the sink, while Jun turns the burner off and checks the boiling pot. Everyone just stands there and stares, taking in what had just gone on the last 10 minutes.
Jeonghan was holding his breath the entire time, glad he was able to get to the home in time and catch the near catastrophe. As for how the boys didn't smell it sooner... he has no clue. These boys... I swear if I wasn't already dead. Letting out a huge sigh, he decided to stay in the kitchen for the rest of the time... just in case.
"Well, good news is we didn't burn the food or the kitchen, right?", DK starts, trying to lighten the mood. Based on how heavy Jun sighed and how heavy Mingyu was still staring into the void that was the sink it did not do as he had hoped.
"How about we just watch the pot from now on? I'll do it since the pot ramyun is almost done anyways." Mingyu stated cautiously. "DK, let's clean up the kimchi first. Hyung, can you check the pot again please?"
"Sure thing," Jun agreed. Looking at everything splayed out, and with the still burning smell in the air, Jun couldn't smell all that much coming from the pot. Gochujang should help, was what Jun chose, yet again, to add more flavor to the groups upcoming meal along with the rest of the ramyun packets. Turning the heat lower, the right one this time, he left right as Mingyu was coming in. Due to recent event, a snack was not needed to entertain him for the time being.
********************
With the members all back at the dorm, the noise of 12 men waiting for a pot of ramyun enough for a military camp was much less chaotic than the events earlier.
"EVERYONE! RAMYUN IS HERE!" Mingyu tried to shout over the noise while bringing the pot to the table. Everyone started filling their bowls and munching down. To their immediate surprise however...
"YAH! WHAT THE FUCK! COUGH COUGH"
"WATER! WATER! COUGH COUGH"
"MINGYU!!! HOW MUCH GOCHUJANG DID YOU OUT IN THIS??!!!"
Jeonghan could only watch as the kitchen was once again on fire (thankfully not literally this time) due to another stupid mistake by the boys. Trying to see himself what the cause could be, he took a look at the fridge. And low and behold, there were two containers of gochujang right next to each other, the only difference being a very, very small label at the bottom indicating spice level. But one was opened, with the other not. He could already guess what had happened then.
To everyone's horror back in real time, the ramyun was unexpectedly way too spicy, that is except to Jun of course. "I think this tastes completely fine guys," Jun stated while quickly slurping away.
"That's cause we don't have the devil's spice tolerance like you, Hyung," Seungkwan managed to squeeze out between shoving ice cubes in his mouth.
"I don't understand, the gochujang I told Jun-hyung to grab wasn't supposed to be spicy." Mingyu wondered aloud, having chosen a frozen popsicle to cool himself off.
Vernon, ever so calm and collected, had made his way over to the fridge once he had taken care of his own spice shock. He saw exactly what Jeonghan had seen himself, and made the discovery known to the boys. "The one he took was the extra spicy one. I guess you bought two different types by mistake at the store Hyung."
"And I put in 5 scoops in when I was supposed to put 3..." DK horrifiedly spoke up, full of pain. Whether it was from the pain in his mouth or his conscience, he didn't know.
"Then I put in an extra scoop after we put the fire out.." Jun embarrassedly admitted, having enjoyed the meal much more than his brothers.
"FIRE??!!!! YOU GUYS ALMOST SET A FIRE IN THE KITCHEN?!" S.Coups shouted, already done with the events of the day.
"NOT ON PURPOSE HYUNG! IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! AN ACCIDENT!" Mingyu fought to defend himself against the leaders' onslaught of accusations. Jeonghan really thought he looked like a puppy caught making a mess.
"Ahhh Kim Mingyu really.... haaaa," Woozi exasperated, honestly not too surprised that Mingyu had been clumsy, even in his own element.
Watching the group relax in defeat of an unexpected spicy ramyun night, Jeonghan let himself enjoy the honor of successfully completing his job as a guardian angel for another day and making sure the boys didn't die or get seriously injured. Would this incident happen again? Probably. But would he have it any other way? Never.
