Chapter Text

As the space station crashes into the rings in the distance Rain turns the ships autopilot course to Yvaga

Rain sits Kay onto her bunk. "I just need to stop the bleeding before placing you into a pod.. okay?" Kay nods slowly as Rain places her jacket over her. Rain turns to face Andy who's sat next to the ships main computer. "I'm just going to plug you in okay? You'll be on low power mode or whatever.. we'll get to Yvaga."

"but what about-" Andy begins, referring to the fact he was an synthetic and that he had no access to Yvaga. "don't worry, you're coming with me." Rain assures her brother before placing her forehead onto his. He smiles when she pulls back. "I think we need a new objective.. we do whats best of us." She says softly, "Done." Andy beams. They both share a grin before he turns to the ships monitors. Rain turns to Kay again, her eyes fluttered shut as she holds Rain's jacket to her face. All snuggled up like a child.

Rain sits beside her, her hand moving to find hers. Kay's eyes open hesitantly meeting Rain's. She tilts her head slightly before speaking, "hm.. lets get you cleaned up." she says lowly, obviously trying to drive Andy's attention away from the fact that its painfully obvious that they wanna spend some time alone together. "I'm just gonna go help Kay clean up, okay?" she nods to Andy before helping Kay stand, taking her hand and leading her downstairs into the cargo bay where the pods were being held.

-

Rain redirected them into a side room, her free hands moving across the wall to find the trigger to the door. she let out a soft "ah" when she had found the button. The door opened to reveal a small closet-like interior that held a bunk and a storage container. Rain sits Kay onto the bunk before pulling out a first aid box, the door closing behind them. The room acted as a small medbay. "I'll be quick.." she assures her, pulling out an alcohol bottle and some cotton. Kay nodded as she pulls the straps of her overalls down. She moves her hand to pull the collar of her shirt down beneath the wound but Rain stops her, moving her hand to latch onto hers. "just take your shirt off." Rain realizes her boldness and immediately cringes at her words. She pulls her hand away from Kay's, letting out an annoyed breath. Kay laughs at her flustered state, "okay boss" she moves her hands to the body of her shirt and pulls it over her head. Revealing bruised and damaged skin. Kay tosses her shirt to the side as she places her hands behind her to give her support to sit up. Rain had to fight every bone in her body to stop herself from staring. She felt stressed enough as it was that Kay was literally topless infront of her. Her bra worn with a strap drooping, Kay's eyes follow Rain's as they scan her body. Out of the small box Rain picked up a small needle, the words "Emergency anaesthetic" taped messily over it.

Rain moved it towards her neck, the tip a few inches away from her skin. "This might sting.. hold onto me if you'd like" Rain spoke quiety and gently, it felt as if Kay was speaking to someone completely new. She'd never seen her so focused before, so concerned. Kay smiled, "okay." as her hand drifts towards Rain's thigh, clumsily gripping onto her pants. She inserts the needle, pushing it through the thickness of her skin. Emptying the barell she places the needle back into the box. She takes Kay's hand from her cargos, both hands clasping around hers. "I'll wait a few minutes before doing anything else, this'll take some pressure and pain off your shoulder." Rain explained, her eyes shifting to the wound. "I might have to do two sets of stitches." she adds, referring to the fact the xenomorphs tail went right through her. She sighed, her fingers rubbing circles across her knuckles. Kay remained quiet, listening. Although she could feel herself become light headed, "Okay I'm going to start now.." Rain spoke, her words breaking Kay away from her dizziness for a split second. Their hands seperated Rain picks up a bottle of alcohol and a few cotton balls. "I'm just going to clean your other wounds first, get you used to the anaesthetic somewhat."

Rain moved up her body, taking care of every blemish and cut. Her touch delicate and gentle, like she was afraid she might break her. Rain finally found her way to the wound on her shoulder. Moving to sit next to her they were close, Rain avoided her gaze knowing that if they locked eyes she'd get all flustered and she'd stumble over her words. Kay kept her head straight, tilting her neck to the side sligtly so she had more access. Rain scanned the wound before applying anyting. "It's stopped bleeding but I'll need to apply the stitches now... you okay with that?" she finally spoke, her eyes dragging up to meet Kay's. "of course." she mumbled, her words slurred. Rain bit her tongue, picking up the alcohol and cotton. "now this will hurt Kay, please tell me if i'm hurting you." Kay turned to face Rain, a little surprised with her choice of words.

Kay nodded hastily, "okay I will.." she repositioned herself, moving her body to face Rain's. They sat closer now, sitting across from one another. Rain looked to the wound as Kay watched her think. She began by tipping the bottle of alcohol onto the cotton ball and dragging it across her skin, Kay winced at the contact. Rain's gaze shifts to meet hers, "you're doing good." she speaks softly. Rain moved to pick up a curved needle and needle holder. Kay felt her body tense up, her hands moving to Rain's lap. Her hands latching onto her cargos once again. Rain lets out a breath before moving closer to her, from here she could smell her. A mix of blood with whatever purfume she had put on before leaving Jackson. She wondered if Kay could smell her too, a mix of sweat and oil most likely. Although she had no time to think about that sort of thing, she had to focus, attempting to swat the thoughts away she brought the needle to her skin. She picked the edge of the wound with a toothed forecep, raising it just enough for the needle to insert into the skin. Kay tightened her grip as she moved the needle. Inserting it 3 times clockwise, 2 times anticlockwise and 1 time clockwise again. It didn't take long but for Kay it felt like forever. She grumbled and squirmed in pain. "We're nearly there, you're doing so amazing.." Rain's words of praise actively helped, each time she spoke her grip on her pants eased. After Rain finished with the stitches she cut the string and tied it into a knot.

"I'll put something over it until it stops bleeding-" Kay couldn't even bring herself to reply, she let her head fall onto Rain's shoulder. She let out a sigh of relief. Rain paused, moving a hand to the back of her head. "Well done Kay." she smiled, moving enough to kiss her head gently. "Ah I'm sorry-"

Kay couldn't even muster up a reply, she just started chuckling. Rain surrendered her hands, confused. As her laughing eased to a grin Kay wrapped her arms around Rain's waist. Feeling her body freeze up Rain began to wonder if this was something to do with the injection she had given her. "you'd be an amazing doctor.." Kay began, her voice wobbly, "I bet Tyler was never lucky enough to get such care." she laughed giddily, her chin placed on Rain's shoulder as they held eachother. Rain loosened up, her hands landing softly on her shoulders. "no you're right. i guess he never showed me that side of him" she shrugged, her head moving to lean onto Kay's. Appreciative that throughout it all Kay still showed her affection through physical touch it made Rain think though, why it felt so much different to when she was with Tyler. So different that she didn't want to cringe and to isolate herself. "Why did you go out with him anyways.. he's boring and stinky" Kay grumbled, her eyebrows furrowed as her eyes fell shut.

Because he was the closest I could get to you?

Rain tore through her thoughts, thinking of a reply to muster up that Kay would actually believe. "I could treat you better than any man." Kay boasted, her fingers pulling her shirt into a fist. Rain remained quiet, what was that even supposed to mean? she was so lost for words she froze up. "he messed up with you." she added, Rain's arms tightening the embrace. "I don't think I can believe that." She finally replied, her voice low and sounding rather sheepish. She would regret it if she said something stupid, she kept the things she wanted to say to herself. She'd hate to make herself be seen as so pathetic, "tell me Rain.. have I really ever lied about something like this before?" Kay's words began to sound more genuine, it was as if she was watching a drunk person sober up in real time. Rain shook her head, "I guess not."

"Tyler may have wanted you but Rain Carradine you shall be mine." Kay yapped, chuckling to herself softly. She sighed, "sure Kay." she spoke, a hand patting the back of her head. "let's get you to sleep huh?" Rain added, pushing herself up onto her feet. Moving Kay's shirt under her head for a makeshift pillow. Kay grumbled as her touch left her hands. "I'm still here." Rain assured flipping off the switch to the rooms lights and sitting next to Kay on the medbay's bunk. It wasn't long until Kay properly fell asleep, Rain chewed at the inside of her mouth. Attempting to tear apart what had just happened, she hoped that when Kay would wake up she'd forget what had been said. Rain cringed, pulling a bandage from the medkit and placing it over the stitched wound. "I'll be in the cabin." she whispered before leaving the room, the cold air of the ship hitting her face as she opened the door.

She moved up the ladder, wandering into the cockpit. "You were down there awhile, is she alright?" Andy reactivated, greeting Rain with a soft smile. She nodded, "I think so, just had to apply some stitches." she spoke, falling into one of the ships seats. Swivelling the seat round to look to the ships monitors she flipped through the cameras, the final one landing in the medbay. She let out a breath, not realizing she had been holding it for quite some time. Andy nodded, "I don't think I've seen you so.. concerned." he murmured, his eyes blinking slowly. "of course I'm concerned I-" she snapped, immediatly realizing she withdraws her words. "shit I'm sorry." she cursed, bringing her face to her hands. "hm.. I thought so." Andy grinned, "what?" Rain turned her head to face him, "you thought what?"

-

It must've been a few hours before Kay awoke, she pulled herself up. Clutching her shoulder in pain, "ah fuck.." she cursed, the touch of her hand against the bandage made her realize she was topless. Bandages messily placed across her shoulder and arm. She looked around nervously, glad that no one was there with her. She couldn't seem to find her shirt where it was earlier, she pulled her overalls over her torso as she sat up, letting out a relieved sigh. Her eyes adjust to the darkness of the room. the only visible light was a small exit sign above the medbay's door. She hummed a response before stumbling to her feet, her shoes making contact with the metal.

She staggered out the door, her eyes darting across the ship cargo bay. The cold air hit her skin like a bus, she gained goosebumps rapidly. It was awfully quiet, the only sound that could be heard was the low hum of the ships engine. She headed upstairs, using the small elevator that headed up to the cabin. She opened the cabins door. Her eyes fell upon Andy, sat up straight in one of the ships seats - all strapped in and plugged into the system. It made her wonder if Rain needed the quiet. She chuckled silently to herself, Rain was always the type to prefer silence to chatter. She's more of an observer than someone who experiences.

She found her eyes looking to Rain, laying on the cabin's bunk. Her head lay upon Kay's shirt, her arms wrapped around her stomach - as if she was hugging herself. She moved to sit on the edge, her curls falling upon her bare shoulders. "Hey Rain." she spoke softly, quiet enough not to alert Andy. Rain's eyes darted open, shooting to meet Kay's. She grumbled, moving her fingers to rub against her eyes. "shit I didn't mean to fall asleep- are you alright?" she rambled, her gaze moving across her torso. "yes I'm fine, please quit worrying." Kay smiled, her hand moving to meet Rain's. Their fingers intertwining. She blinked a few times before connecting the dots, "thank you for fixing me up, you do a lot for me. I feel like I don't say that enough." Kay explains, her eyes falling to the ships floor. Rain was puzzled, she moved to sit up next to her friend. Their hands still connected. "huh? I mean I wouldn't let you bleed out-"

"I think I love you Rain."

Rain was lost for words, she fell silent. Kay let out a sigh, "I don't think I could've ever told you if he was still around." she added, letting a soft sigh escape her lips. Rain chewed on the inside of her mouth, she could fell her palms start to sweat. "Who? Tyler?" Rain finally replied, attempting to act slow to see if Kay was 100% herself. She'd kick herself if she was to say something on a whim that she didn't fully mean. "Yes Rain. Keep up." She frowned, her eyes shifting to meet Rain's. Her grip tightened on Rain's, "shit.. today I nearly died. I'd be stupid not to say something. I meant to tell you earlier but I just couldn't." her head dropped slightly, she could feel her body start to relax. It was as if a shit ton of weight was being lifted from her shoulders.

It all happened to fast, Rain could barely remember everything they had to go through to get back to their ship. She was already starting to tune it all out. "why didn't you say anything sooner? I mean.. other than Tyler" Rain spoke up, her voice uneasy. Kay felt her chest tighten, her breath stuck in her throat. "I already told you, don't you believe me?" Kay moves to meet Rain's gaze again.

"No I just.. I also planned to tell you sooner.. I guess we're in the same boat?" Rain explained, her thumb grazing against Kay's fingers. "or well.. ship?" Kay chuckled softly followed by Rain's quiet cackle. Her hand moving to cover her face. After their laughter siezed Rain turned to Kay, a soft smile lay upon her lips. "i love you too Kay, and I'm sorry I didn't realize sooner." she murmured, wiping a bead of sweat from her forehead. Her other hand squeezing Kay's.

Silence fell between the two, Rain avoided her gaze - her eyes drifting across the cabins monitors.

"Shit I'm no good in these situations-"

"Can I kiss you?" Kay interupted, her head tilted to the side. Rain quickly looked to her 'friend', her expression full of pure shock. It was so obvious she had never been face to face with this kind of situation - even with Tyler, she couldn't even recall if she had kissed him properly before. Her jaw clenched, what if she were to mess up?

"I mean if you want to." She swallowed, her breathing changing pace rapidly. Kay moved to look to her, her eyes falling upon her soft features, scanning her face. "I'd like to." she added, finally gaining enough courage to hold eye contact for more than a few seconds. "okay.." Kay spoke, her eyes drifting to Andy and then back to Rain. "Follow me."

-

She led her down to the cargo bay, back through the medbays door and onto on the bunk again. Rain grew restless, unable to keep herself still. Kay sat across from her, her eyes searching her body. Their eye contact was heavy, laced with so many emotions. All the years of waiting, Rain had begged to experience something like this. Kay moved her hands to sit on Rain's cargos, her face growing closer.

Rain remained rigid, she went stiff. Kay couldn't help but laugh quietly to herself before placing a kiss on her lips. They were soft but worn, it was easy to tell that she had been biting and pulling at them out of nervousness. She could feel herself loosen up, her hands shifting to Kay's waist. Her hands gently caressing the seams of her overalls. Kay's hands moved up her cargos to her shirt. Rain squirmed under her touch, not expecting this type of behaviour so suddenly.

The sudden contact stressed Rain out, she felt hot and mushy. Kay moved up her face, kissing along her jaw and cheeks. Rain was confused and flustered but she let it happen. She tensed up, feeling her body stiffen she closed her eyes. Kay brought a hand to her face, gently caressing her skin while she kissed her cheeks and nose. Rain was unsure of where to put her hands.

Kay relocated her hands to find Rain's waist, her dark curls brushing her face. Sweat beaded at Rain's skin, her hands fell to her lap. Clutching at the pockets of her cargos as she remained quiet. Kay continued to kiss her skin, her hands moving up the back of Rain's Weyland-Yutani tee. Her fingers brushing against her bra. Rain was unsure of how to react, torn between the fact she'd never gotten this close with anyone and that she was making a complete fool of herself. She had to remind herself everything she had risked for just this moment alone. She'd daydream most days about shitty scenarios that she'd thought would never happen.

But here she was, sitting idle, letting Kay kiss and tease her skin. She cursed herself, wanting to force herself to move but she knew if she did she'd probably regret it. Where was the adrenaline and confidence from earlier? Did she really need to be on the verge of death to act on her feelings?

"Rain you're beautiful.." Kay purrs, her breath hot against Rain's cold and damp skin. She can feel her words vibrate throughout her body, enough to bring her out of her daze. Her body trembles, her eyes scanning the wall behind Kay. "hey it's okay... are you- are you alright?" she adds, pulling her lips away from her neck. She pulls back far enough to view the entirety of Rain's face. Her dark brown eyes gaze into Rain's. Her breaths become shallow and rapid, her hands find their way to Kay's arms. She grips onto her skin for comfort. She closes her eyes slowly, "Rain?" Kay speaks, bringing a hand to her cheek. Rain whimpers as tears begin to form in her eyes. She shakes, attempting to stabilize her breathing. They remain silent for a few seconds, Kay searches her face for a sign. Maybe she was in pain and Kay didn't realize, maybe she went too far.

"wait if I went too far i'm-"

"please don't apologize." Rain managed to reply, interupting Kay she opened her eyes once again. Tears brimming her eyelids. "I didn't mean to push it.. we can do something else if you'd like-"

"no you don't understand." she interupts once again, "I want this.. I want you." Rain whined, to be honest it was pretty pathetic but her tone only made Kay want her more. She loosened up, moving her hands to touch Kay's face. She pulled her forehead to her own. Kay remained quiet, listening to Rain's voice was soothing. "I just.." Rain began, her eyes falling shut. "I don't want to fuck this up." she confessed, she acted as if Kay was glass and if she stood out of line she'd break. Kay snickered, moving a hand to cradle her head. "You won't break me Rain.. I'm tougher than you think." it didn't help the fact that both had lost their entire crew, their friends, their family. Rain felt sick, she chewed the inside of her lips.

"I know I know.." she mumbled, their breathing starting to sync. She'd lost everyone else, she couldn't live with herself if something were to happen to Kay. "but.." Rain opened her eyes slowly, gazing lowly to Kay's lips. "you saved my life, we're still here aren't we?" Kay added, her voice soft and slow. "I was so scared to lose you." Rain murmured causing Kay to smile. She felt giddy, like some teenager had just confessed to some crush but to Rain, Kay was so much more than just some crush. "I know you said it to me earlier and I didn't think about how to properly react but.. I really do love you Kay. I know I already said that but-" she rambled, her eyes blinking slowly as her tumbs caressed her arms. "yeah I know."

Rain sighs, a wash of relief fell over her. She hesitated before moving her lips to collide with Kay's, she remains gentle, wishing that time would stop so she could experience this forever. Each kiss was more loving than the last, Kay moved her lips in rhythm with Rain's. Her hands moving through her curls. It was as if each glance and touch laced with want made this all worth it, something Rain would think about on the regular. Looking into Kay's dark eyes, wishing she could read her mind.

It didn't last long until Kay was pulling at Rain's clothes, nipping at her lips and pushing her tongue into her mouth. Rain accepted the contact, between breaths she loses the shirt. Pulling it over her head to expose her body. Kay gawked, admiring her like she was some medival painting. She couldn't deny it, Rain was stunning, her toned arms and hands glided across her skin. They found their way back to eachothers lips, Rain moved her hands to her thighs. Pulling her up onto her lap. Rain could finally think straight, she knew what she wanted. She had her adrenaline to thank for that.

"I want to touch you Carradine.." Kay mumbled between kisses, straddling her lap as she messily left kisses across Rain's jaw. She hummed a response before kissing her some more, nibbling at her lips before upclasping her bra. Kay took this as a sign, guiding Rain's hand to her breast. Inhaling sharply Kay cups her face, leaving Rain to discover her body for herself. Her fingers proceeded to drift across her skin, identifying every divit and imperfection on her skin. Although she found it ironic, from what Rain had seen she was perfect inside and out. Rain pulled her lips away, moving down her face and jaw. Letting out soft grumbles and whimpers Kay lets her head fall back. Allowing the sensation of Rain's lips to become her center of focus. Her free hand massaging Kay's thigh, moving up further now and then towards the band of her pants.

It was as if Rain's hands had their own mind, grazing her skin in such admiration. She couldn't look at Kay without feeling herself turn red, lucky to be so close to someone so.. flawless, so unique. She was like a model, like one on those shitty posters Tyler and Bjorn used to collect. Kay cursed under her breath, the heat of Rain's lips against her skin drives her crazy. Her hips loosen up, moving to hover over Rain's thigh.

Rain freezes up, her lips hovering against Kay's skin. Her eyes open hastily, her breath quivering. Kay takes the lead, her lips clashing into Rain's, knocking her off balance and onto the bunk. Rain winces as her back collides against the thin and hard surface. "'m sorry baby.." Kay purrs, her lips coasting across her jaw. Rain's hands shift to make contact with Kay's back. They kiss again, their tongues interwined. Shifting her weight onto one arm Kay moves her hand below Rain's bra. Her fingers moving across her rough skin, slipping into the band of her cargos.

Rain whimpered into her mouth as she made an attempt to pull her pants down. The tattered fabric gliding across her thighs and down her legs. Kay switches hands, one finding its way to cup Rain's cheek as the other inches towards her panties. Her breath hitches in her throat, praying the slight wetness didn't give her away too much.

Kay began to kiss down her neck and her chest, her hands following down her body. Her lips left a sloppy trail of kisses down her stomach, her fingers grabbing a hold of Rain's pants. She felt herself begin to lay back, leaning on her elbows her eyes follow Kay's lips trail down across her navel. Kay pulled her panties down her legs and tossed them aside.

Rain's head fell back with a grumble, she wasn't sure if it was dread or excitement. Her eyes shut, she let Kay make the move.

Kay’s hands fell upon Rain’s bare thighs, the contact made her shiver. Kay began to pry them apart. Her eyes began to search for Rain’s, “i’ll take it slow, okay?” Rain’s head shot up, nodding hastily. Kay nodded a final time before diving in.

Her tongue glided across her skin, Rain attempted to keep herself from clenching. Her hands grabbed at the mattress of the bunk, she felt her face scrunch together. An attempt to contain herself.

She moved a hand to cover her mouth, muffled whimpers escaped her lips. Kay found herself at Rain’s clit. Her tongue drawing circles of her insides. Rain let her elbows fall, laying on her back she lets her eyes close. A hand moving to meet the back of Kay’s head. Her fingers interlacing with her curls. She began to grow comfortable, letting herself breathe as she moved her hand from her mouth to her side.

The room was dimly lit, the soft glow of the medbays lights casted long shadows across the walls. Rain was left to her thoughts, she had started to think about how the events of the previous day had been able to lead them both here. Rain could feel her heart racing, her skin becoming clammy. Her breaths became elongated and loud, she was able to follow Kay's touch, her touch slow but deliberate. She was able to explore every curve and contour as if she was attempting to memorize Rain's body. The warmth of Kay's breath sent chills up Rain's spine. She was completely lost in Kay's movements. Their bodies moved together as if they had always known each other this way, the rhythm building between them, a perfect, unspoken understanding.

Kay's mind was a blur, focusing on the sensation of their skin colliding but also the fact her tongue was literally inside of her. Rain's grumbles and breaths kept her going, her pace varied but she was consistent. The pulse of desire kept growing, she could feel it consuming her. Kay's name slipped from Rain's lips, barely audible, but it was full of everything she felt. Every ounce of pleasure, affection and need.

Time seemed to lose meaning as their movements grew faster, more urgent, both of them chasing the peak of pleasure that hovered just out of reach.

-

They lay in a comfortable tangle of limbs, the rush of their shared breath beginning to slow. Kay's hand traced lazy circles against Rain's skin. Rain shifted, moving her face to look to Kay. Nestling into eachothers arms their skin rested against one anothers. Rain's thoughts drifted as she lay there, Kay was right. She can and will treat her better then any man.
